Flint Castle
Popular with fans of military architecture, construction on Flint Castle began in 1277 and was completed by 1284, ready to serve as a final refuge in the event of enemy attack. Built with exceptionally thick walls and equipped with a moat, imposing tower and drawbridge, Flint was the perfect stronghold.
Flint is also known as the backdrop for the meeting between Richard II and Henry Bolingbroke in Shakespeare’s Richard II.
