Greenfield Valley Heritage Park
Greenfield Valley Heritage Museum opened in 1982 and was developed around the buildings of the original Abbey Farm that closed in 1979. Other buildings from elsewhere in Flintshire were rescued and placed here to form an open-air museum.
The woods and walks that surround the museum extend just over a mile and ancient monuments can be found scattered between the trees and alongside the Holywell Stream.
One of the most fascinating monuments within the woodland is the 1000-year-old Basingwerk Abbey ruins. You can wander through the rooms of the ruins and imagine a time when monks lived, worked, and prayed here.
You can also explore the many historic buildings dotted through Greenfield, from a Tudor farmhouse to a Victorian schoolhouse and a cotton mill.
While the park was once a hub of noisy industrial activity, it is now a haven for wildlife, so can spot anything from Kingfishers to badgers.
Bringing along little ones? They’ll love the adventure treehouse, tunnel maze, mega tower maze and water games.
Be enchanted by the woodland at Greenfield Valley Heritage Park…
