Hesket Newmarket to Caldbeck

Park up at the free carpark next to the Denton House Bed and Breakfast before heading to the church. At the church turn left along the pavement and you will find a wall with a gate and play area. Go through the gate and follow the foot path marked for Watersmeeting.

Go past the play area and through another gate directly ahead. You will find yourself in a field, go straight to the other side and cross the small footbridge. Go through another gate and walk along the narrow path until you reach another gate. Go through the gate.

You will now be in a small field with river to your right. Follow the path as it winds through woodland and rises before reaching another gate. Go through the gate. Keep following the path through more woodland and to another gate, go through this gate.

You will once again be in a field. Follow the path, keeping the river to your right. Go through a gate at the other end of the field. Follow the path through woodland and through another gate. Keep going through a field and to another gate, go through this gate. The path divides into three sections here, take the middle one.

This path leads into woodland and takes you on a circular route returning to the last gate you went through. Before the gate you will find a footbridge, cross this bridge. Go straight on from here and uphill. You will soon reach a fork in the path, take the left-hand side. The path will ascend here before reaching a gap in the fence, go through the gap. Walk through some newly planted trees and at the end of this patch, turn left onto Cumbria Way.

Keep following the path until you reach a gate. Go through the gate and continue on the narrow path. You will reach a fork, take the left-hand side. Go through a gate and walk up the track to some water treatment works. Walk through a campsite and through a gate to enter Caldbeck Village.
