Holehird Gardens
Holehird Gardens boast an impressive setting overlooking Windermere. Open year-round from dawn until dusk, this gem is the ideal spot for garden lovers whatever the season.
The walled garden is the centrepiece of Holehird Gardens with its five island beds and borders planted with a variety of plants and shrubs. This area is a riot of colour during the summer months. The walled garden also houses the Victorian-style glasshouse with its collection of plants that thrive in warmer temperatures.
The upper garden boasts the most diverse range of plant life at Holehird Gardens. Here you’ll find rhododendron and magnolia beds as well as autumn and winter borders. The lower garden lies to the left of the drive and features the Gunnera Pool and Cascade, the hydrangea walk, the woodland walk and the lower terrace.
The alpine display house displays a range of plants that would be difficult or impossible to grow outside. There are more than 500 species in the collection, and they are regularly rotated for display.
