Located near Kendal and often referred to as the gateway to the Lake District National Park is Levens Hall and Gardens.
Levens Hall is an Elizabethan mansion built around an imposing 13th Century Pele Tower, complete with the world’s oldest topiary gardens and a thriving 9,500-acre agricultural estate.
Visitors to Levens Hall are invited to marvel at the privately-owned home, where an extensive collection of Jacobean furniture, fine paintings and the earliest English patchwork await.
Once you have explored the hall, head out into the gardens, that were laid out in 1694. Largely unchanged since the 17th century, the ten acres of Gardens retain many original features including the world’s oldest topiary gardens. As well as a unique collection of ancient box and yew trees, offering a place of peace and tranquillity.
Refuel with a visit to Levens kitchen, which uses locally sourced, high-quality produce, including products grown on the Estate and in the gardens of Levens Hall. They serve homemade cakes served throughout the day, in addition to brunches from 10am and lunch between 12pm and 3pm.
Enjoy a day out with the family at Levens Hall…
