Newquay’s Twin Headlands
This hike is a fantastic way to experience Newquay’s beautiful coastline and expansive sea views! Read on to find out what it entails.
Start at Newquay railway station, go onto Cliff Road and turn left to cross the road, then right to join the South West Coast Path on the Tram Track. The Tram Track follows the path where a horse-drawn tramway built in 1849 once lay.
Carry on along Bank Street and then turn right onto Fore Street and continue ahead to North Quay Hill and harbour. Take the steps on the north side of the quay to continue following the Coast Path waymarkers to the Huers Hut.
Join the footpath to the right of the road to walk around Towan Head to Fistral Beach. From here you can walk to the headland and take in stunning coastal views.
Keep following the path through the dunes behind Fistral Beach and continue past the beach along the path on the right. Keep going around Swimming Cove and steeply uphill to join Esplanade Road before it hits Riverside Cresent.
Turn left and then left again to continue walking along Pentire Avenue and then Pentire Road before joining the footpath at the golf course. You will emerge at Atlantic Road which continues on to the right where you must cross Tower Road and keep going to Crantock Street.
At the end of Crantock Street, turn right on St George’s Road and then left on Manor Road. Keep going and it will bring you back to Cliff Road.
