St Mawgan Church

St Mawgan Church was endowed by the Arundells of Lanherne who lived there from the 13th to 18th centuries. The century tower was added in the 14th century and the belfry houses eight bells, the oldest of which was cast between 1378 and 1407. The pulpit dates back to 1553 and the bench ends to the 15th century.

In the churchyard the stern of a rowing boat lies as a memorial for ten men who drifted ashore and were frozen to death in 1846.

Sunday services are at 11am and visitors are welcome. The church also welcomes those who simply wish to look around.

Come and enjoy a peaceful day out at St Mawgan Church….
