Swanvale Nature Reserve
Swanvale Nature Reserve is a small nature reserve settled near the coast in Falmouth. It’s the perfect place to visit if you’re after a relaxing day out in nature, all year around.
The reserve features the pretty forested area of Willow Carr, which you and a canine companion can enjoy hiking through. During your walk, you’ll be able to spot thriving moss and ferns due to the high humidity.
After exiting the woodland, you’ll come across Swanpool. This lake is home to a wealth of animals, including swans. As an added bonus, the lake is a swimming cove, so you can enjoy wild swimming!
The reserve is home to a rare animal that rests at the bottom of the lake. It’s called the Trembling Sea Mat and you can’t find it anywhere else in Britain. It resembles a plant more than an animal and can only be spotted with a microscope.
There are many other animals dotted throughout Swanvale Nature Reserve that you won’t need a microscope to see. A couple of special birds living here include kingfishers and tufted ducks.
