The Old Mill at Lower Slaughter (Museum)
Dating back to the 11th century, The Old Mill at Lower Slaughter is a true, historic gem! In the 18th century the mill became separate from the manorial estate. Soon after, it came under the ownership of the Wilkins family; their cousins ran a close-by mill which has since become the Cotswolds Motor Museum.
Joseph Morris Wilkins was the last of the four generations of the family to run The Old Mill. When he sadly passed away in 1958, the business closed.
The Collets went on to buy the mill and turned it into a local Post Office and Shop for Lower Slaughter, until 1992 when they closed the business. Then, in 1995 on National Mill Day, The Old Mill at Lower Slaughter opened to the public!
Nowadays, you can look forward to exploring the mill, its artefacts and its old machinery. Afterwards, pop into the award-winning gift shop where local specialities and crafts await.
An ice cream parlour also rests on site, so why not stop for a sweet treat on a sunny day?
