The Stray
The Stray is amongst Harrogate’s most renowned landmarks. This 200-acre parkland sits in the middle of the spa town and is a truly beautiful place to experience. It’s known for its connecting of the area’s many springs.
The park was part of Knaresborough Forest and was used for hunting until the 18th century. At this time, this area of the forest had lost its purpose due to Harrogate’s buildings’ continuous construction around it.
Since then, The Stray has hosted an array of different activities, from grazing livestock to featuring an airfield. An array of events take place here, too, from the Great Yorkshire Show to the Harrogate Food Festival.
However, the most notable part of The Stray is its beauty. The park is home to gorgeous cherry trees and crocuses; the best time to see these is in the spring!
It’s the place to visit when you want to escape the hustle and bustle, while still being close to Harrogate’s shops and eateries. Here, you can look forward to relaxing strolls, outdoor games and picnicking.
Enjoy a day of bliss at this amazing park…
