Welcome tray was lovely touch Memory foam mattress in main room made us warm and was too soft ( but this is just our personal opinion ) . So peaceful would definitely come back !

  • "The property made a lovely base for going to surrounding places in Yorkshire just 20 minutes from Skipton, a train ride to Leeds as it was the quickest way to get there instead of driving."

The Old Shippon Mews was fab in its own dark skies area when the lights went out in the evening it was bliss. Lovely decorated to a high standard. The property was warm. The shower was fab. The kitchen Island was lovely easy to wipe down. Could have done with a small drainer next to the sink as we like to wash up by hand. Also a small washing machine could have been of use as we like to wash our clothes whilst on holiday. Other than that it was a superb stay in beautiful surroundings, with the hills and short walks nearby. I'd give this property 10/10 clean and well presented.

The property was lovely and clean. Ideal for plenty of the local attractions (Malham was a 40 minute drive. Haworth and Brontë Waterfall around 20 minutes away. As well as being able to walk from the property to the pinnacle and Lunds Tower.) We arrived to a bottle of prosecco, biscuits and even some milk which is a really lovely touch.

The house is totally relaxing plus our dogs loved it too we had drinks in the lovely secret garden one afternoon. The owners live on site should you need them. Will definitely return .

  • "The cottage is beautifully appointed and styled - really comfortable beds."

But - the stools for the breakfast bar are really uncomfortable. The bar occupies so much space that there is not room for what is needed - a table around which you can gather for cards or games. Also the left hand lever on the mixer tap is not securely fixed in place - needs a grub screw tightening. There is a step into the main bedroom - the floor is so evenly coloured that the step is hard to see and I tripped several times. Eventually put down a shower mat as a reminder that it was there. Really dangerous. There are 3 doors in the property but we only had a key for one door meaning that the other two would not be available for escape in the event of a fire. The outside area available to the cottage is tiny - a table seating four in a fenced off area. Nowhere for kids to run and let off steam. All the properties in the area share the same post code. Why not use What 3 words for a precise location for navigation. It is also very expensive for what you get. One visit is enough

Beautiful outdoor scenery and a beautiful decorated cottage, with a really cozy feel. Everything is really clean and it’s all well equipped. The hosts are really helpful and constantly on hand if ever need to ask anything. We were welcomed with drinks and biscuits along with a fresh bunch of flowers in a vase (as a flower lover this just made my day). We wanted to get away and switch off from the busy world around us and this place was definitely perfect for that!

  • "Lovely cottage in peaceful and safe location adjacent to owners property."

Attractive stone cottage, beautiful open plan living area with 2 comfy sofas, tv, wood burning stove and high beamed ceilings. Neutral and calming decor. Floor to ceiling windows overlooking courtyard and French doors to drive, patio and exclusive parking area. Lovely views over landscape from the drive and patio but no views from the cottage other than owners and cottages courtyard and drive - gravel drive and attractive buildings but not landscaped and mainly cars and storage views. Kitchen well equipped except missing microwave. Coffee, tea and sugar provided but not other provisions eg milk. Very clean and tidy - some dust under sofas and tv unit. No emergency instructions or instruction booklet - some tourist leaflets in kitchen drawer. Bedrooms simple, clean and lovely bedding. Not the most comfy mattresses and a chair or stool in the double bedroom would be handy. Wardrobe in double bedroom and hanging rail in twin room. Bathroom small but large shower with excellent shower and water pressure. Bathroom generally very clean but could be made perfect by cleaning shower panel and tray joints with a toothbrush! Location great for chilling out in comfortable and attractive accommodation. Would recommend and return if I needed to stay in the area again.

  • "The Cottage was lovely and we enjoyed our stay, it was central to most places we wanted to visit and would definitely recommend it."

There were just a couple of things that would have made our stay better... more drawer space... it would have helped if the bedside tables were the same as in the 2nd bedroom, which we could have used for our 'smaller' items. And maybe a chair to use if needed. Also, l know in these times of Covid that there are no information folders, but l do feel that there could have been some kind of notice on the wall for Emergency Contacts etc., We did have contact numbers if needed, but one of the numbers was the owners and he was going on holiday. As l say just a couple of little things would have made a difference. Thanks for a lovely stay in beautiful Yorkshire.

Peaceful and plenty of walks from the house without taking the car, but take OS map. Not sure the directions to the property are accurate though. Sat nav found it OK. Would love to return sometime, and would have asked if the following week was available if we had met the owners. Please get maintenance to fix cupboard hinges and drawer stop in kitchen, plus blinds in bedrooms before they get worse. Be aware of the bedroom step! Sorry maintenance background.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Shippon Mews."

The property is beautiful and had everything to make our stay so comfortable and make it feel like our home for the week (I wish it was). It is in a lovely peaceful rural location but with amenities within a 10 minute walk away or 20 minutes in the car if you wanted to go further to Skipton which has a large Tesco and a good range of shope and restaurants. There are walks from the doorstep and if you do go further afield it is so lovely to come back to Shippon Mews. It has a lovely brand new kitchen where you can comfortably cook a meal and then relax in front of the log fire, ideal for us as we don't feel comfortable eating out at the moment. If you do, however, there are some nice pubs only a short drive away. I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes a character property in a rural setting with a lovely contemporary feel.

  • "The cottage is lovely and well decorated with quality fixtures and fittings."

I’d happily live at the Shippon Mews and the Prosecco on arrival was a lovely gesture that exceeded my expectations. It’s in a lovely scenic spot close to lovely walks and a nice local pub, the Emmott Arms. Emma was easily contactable and friendly. My only suggestions would be to have a washing machine for those that stay for a week, a normal sized ironing board and a small dressing table in the main room would be fab. The floor did need sweeping on arrival between the kitchen and living area but everything outweighed this. The blue sofa could do with freshening up a little. But overall we really like it just had a couple of recommendations. I have already started recommending this place to people and would live to have seen the Old Shippon cottage next door as it had great views from the garden. I loved the surprise that we had access to a small courtyard area too-lovely touch for sunny days. Definitely worth a stay and very close to the Yorkshire Dales via car.

The house was amazing, so relaxing and it a really peaceful location. Great places to go for walks, and shops close enough for a short drive or a little walk. About the location

COWLING

Skipton 7 miles.

The ancient village of Cowling sits across a hillside in the Pennine Hills, just seven miles from the market town of Skipton. A thriving village, built along a main high street with stone-built, terraced houses set alongside the mills of a bygone age. The village was once sparsely populated, the bulk of the population living in Ickornshaw and Middleton, and before that on Cowling Hill, close to water sources they depended on, and the main roads of the day - now used as back roads by locals to avoid the modern day traffic. In the early days, agriculture was the main occupation, with corn being grown and ground within the village. When canal transport boomed, corn became cheaper to buy from elsewhere and so the mills in Cowling turned from grinding corn to weaving during the Industrial Revolution. The village inn was once part of a farmhouse on Cowling Hill, but was sold as changes to the structure of the village began. The son of the landlord later opened the Bay Horse Hotel on the new road, which still stands as a main feature of village life. The nearby Quaker village of Lothersdale was, at one time, home to Charlotte Bronte who modelled Gateshead Hall in Jane Eyre on Stone Gappe House where she was governess. Today many visitors passing through the village are walkers, on their way along the Pennine Way on the stretch from Cowling to Gargrave. There's the large retail outlet of Boundary Mills, just six miles away, a must for lovers of shoping, and Skipton, known as 'The Gateway to the Dales' is nearby. Skipton is a lovely old market town with much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2008 the Academy of Urbanism voted Skipton High Street the best shopping spot in Britain, and The Copper Dragon Brewery, opened in 2002 is highly rated in the CAMRA listings. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the one mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short distance away. In 2014 the area hosted the first leg of the Tour De France, bringing in many visitors from far and wide to this wonderful area.
