• "Totally unique cottage, location, views and atmosphere."

  The views from the cottage were every changing with each tide. The weather was glorious sunshine on several days so we took advantage of the outdoor seating area and garden and secluded cove/beach. The beds were extremely comfortable, lined and towels were good quality. Fixtures and fittings were of a good standard. We were very pleased and had a lovely holiday.

• "The cottage is spotless and all facilities you would expect are in place, one point of improvement is the patio area where the decking and outside furniture is in need of replacement, there is some flaking of paint here and there but it is to be expected in a cottage of that age and location, the on-suit shower floor is a bit of a problem water pools around the toilet, however it is a wet room and soon dries out, one French style door does not open, it is not a detriment and perhaps safer shut."

  Seven of us rent the cottage and at no time do you find yourself on to of each other, more then enough space We can’t recommend this place highly enough, we we in 24 hour and booked it gain for July 2025 PS, it is so peaceful you don’t want to go roaming around, all the big stores will deliver supplies to the door, our car didn’t turn a wheel all week.

• "Craig y Wylan is the most amazing place in Ynys Mon ( Anglesey) Myself and family have stayed there twice and are planning to visit again."

  The cottage is situated on the rocks so the sea comes virtually up to the kitchen diner. The views from there are spectacular for all nature lovers birds,seals and porpoises can be seen most days from the property. The facilities are second to none everything that you could wish for in a home from home by the sea. In fact our party of 6 Adults did not watch the television all week, choosing to remain in the Kitchen looking out towards the bay. Download a free app and you can find out what the ships are carrying and which port they are heading towards whilst anchored off the coast waiting for escorting pilot. The location is quite central to access all parts of Anglesey and the coastal path is right next door to the property. I cannot praise this property enough it certainly gives families some quality time. We are really thankful to the Owner, whom we hope appreciates this review. Philip

• "This was a stunning location and a clean, comfortable, spacious house."

  Close to all amenities yet once you're sat in the kitchen gazing out over the bay it's your own peaceful space. We had a few high tides and it was amazing watching the water come right to the house. Loads of wildlife including seals, porpoises and kittiwakes diving for food. Would definitely book again.

• "We had a lovely relaxing stay, the cottage was roomy with plenty of space for 5 adults and a toddler, extremely well equipped and thought out, excellent heating and hot water, showers etc (just what you need after a wet walk!"

  ) The kitchen though was our go to place! Roomy comfy and cosy with Fantastic views, whatever the weather, with good sightings of oystercatchers, guillemot, porpoise and a seal! Hopefully we can return again to Craig Y Wylan.

• "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful holiday home."

  The coastal path to the side of the house was perfect for scenic walks. Each window of the house offered gorgeous sea views and we even managed to see the seal in the bay from the kitchen window. The house was so cosy, clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. This holiday home exceeded all our expectations and we would definitely recommend. We will definitely be returning for another visit.

  Had a couple of issues at beginning of holiday but have to say the owner dealt with it very promptly and it didn’t spoil our holiday.would highly recommend this lovely holiday home,and will definitely be coming back,so sad to leave at end of week.

• "What a magical seaside cottage Craig Y Weylan is."

  We spent a hot sunny week relaxing watching the stunning sunrises and sunsets from the garden perched on the best location in Bull Bay. We also watch the dolphins cruise passed from the panoramic windows in the kitchen and dining room. We also watched the cheeky seals as we swam in the crystal clear waters of the property’s own private beach. There are spectacular cliff walks directly from the property which gave us incredible views over the seascape watching the gannets dive, chuffs call and meadow pippets following us on our walk. Again, we saw dolphins, porpoises and seals swimming past so close it was exciting you could almost touch them, a wildlife lover’s paradise. The fishing was amazing fresh mackerel caught from the cottage and from Molefe went straight on the barbie. The cottage itself was all we could have dreamt of everything you could possibly need. Spotlessly clean and well presented with some lovely thoughtful extras, including games for the kids and a bottle of bubbly for us. We had a very special and memorable week in your beautiful property which I must say, provided one of the most chilled out holidays we have ever been on, thank you, we’ll definitely be back. Julie I

• "We were all extremely sad to leave Craig Y Wylan."

  What a special place to be for a week. The kitchen-diner was the perfect place to relax and spend time with the family whilst watching the oystercatchers, herons & cormorants. Loved the quirkiness of the place and the new kitchen and bathrooms were very much appreciated. Highlights were paddleboarding in Bull Bay (parents could watch from the patio), instant access to the beautiful coast path, watching the tide come in and out below us, seal watching, eating out in the local hotel, shell seeking/ rock climbing on the beach behind. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack, wine and message on arrival- it was very much appreciated. We would love to return another year . Probably the best property we have stayed in, in 25 years of summer holiday cottages.

• "Wonderful property with both the interior and garden very well maintained."

  Thank you for the welcome basket though there wasn’t a wine opener/cork screw in the house. Emailed Sykes, no response. Phoned and left a message with my name and number - took a while but received a response voicemail that said they didn’t know which house I was in - please look up my name. Lost a star as communication was difficult with Sykes when having a US phone. The website doesn’t navigate to a chat and couldn’t find where to initiate a message. Also, two people in the house and 1/2 a kitchen roll and two loo rolls? For the rental price one could include paper. Loved the house itself and will rent again.

• "The property was amazing and far exceeded our expectations We had been in awe of this house and it’s position for about 15 yrs and staying in it was a dream come true It was exceptionally clean on arrival It had everything we needed ."

  .and everything well appointed but perhaps champagne glasses? We couldn’t access the private beach sadly due to the steps not looking safe But just to sit in the garden surrounded by the sea was enough The views from every window are picture postcard The handrail in the corridor is a great idea and some nice touches throughout the house The welcome hamper was such a kind gesture and quality items too Kathryn texted us on arrival to check we were ok and again towards the end Great to deal with … very friendly and pleasant Wildlife around is amazing …. The seal we saw a few times and the porpoises on our last night. Watching the Terns diving for sand eels, diving cormorants, screeching oyster catchers , herons fly past , It has the lot .. ideally situated for access to the whole island Highly recommend Lastra farm for lobster and Anglesey mussels Other than going there just stay in and enjoy the beautiful house and setting and comfort Cannot wait to return

• "This was our second stay at Craig y Wylan and it was as wonderful as we remembered."

  There had been new bathrooms and kitchen fitted since our last stay which was super! The sun shone everyday so we paddle boarded and swam everyday. We saw so much wildlife and fished off the rocks at the side of the house. This is a very special place.

• "This slightly quirky cottage is in the most amazing location, there were wonderful views over the sea, saw porpoises every day except one and the seal was a frequent visitor."

  We had some great walks on the coast path and visited Penros Nature reserve, saw nesting Egrets and red squirrels.The beds were very comfortable and the cottage well appointed with all we needed. There were some items required which the owner dealt with very promptly. She is a lovely host. Would definitely return to this olace; it is good for the soul

• "Wow is all we can say."

  We are a family of 4 with 2 children aged 4 and 6. We have never stayed in a property with such a stunning location before. You can see the house when you enter Bull Bay and it looks like, and actually is a dream. The owners have clearly updated the bathrooms to a lovely spec and made it very homely and safe for all who stay. The beds were extremely comfy and the house so peaceful. The house is right next to a coastal walking path, has a private beach and has views that have to be seen to be believed. We saw kayakers from the windows on many occasions. This property would suit any age and we will be definitely be back with our parents too. There seems to have been some great modifications to this house to make it work for all ages. Thanks for sharing this amazing house!

• "Generally, exactly what we expected."

  Perfect location, lots of sea and lots of wildlife. Loved watching the seal everyday. We had seen negative comments from a previous holidaymaker; perhaps a bit harsh although, as one of our party was a little unstable on their feet, we did think it would have been helpful and safer if a handrail was fitted in the sloping part of the main corridor. Two other points - the welcoming instructions said nothing about how and where to turn the hot water and heating on, and, the shower water pressure in the main bathroom was a bit brutal. That bathroom probably needs modernising a bit but we managed and it was part of the quirkiness of the cottage. Our friends were in the master bedroom and they were not familiar with the system which requires you to pull a lanyard to get hot water. Again, a note to this effect would have been useful. Also, the water pressure in the ensuite shower was probably less than optimum. These points are intended by way of positive suggestions and should not be taken as negative comments. We loved the cottage and it was well-suited to our needs (2 Senior couples).

Since your stay, a brand new main bathroom has been fitted and also a new en-suite bathroom, both of which are simple to use, with no lanyards etc. Water pressure in both of the bathrooms are now equal. We have also had a brand new kitchen fitted and new flooring throughout the property. All of this gives the house a fresh, bright and airy feel! Photos of the work will soon be published on this website, (hopefully soon after the 13th April). You also mentioned that the property could benefit from a handrail in the hallway, which we have also had fitted. The welcome instructions now include details on how to adjust the heating to your liking and the hot water is permanently on. We look forward to welcoming you back to the property in the near future. • "Fantastic location, and we had a lovely holiday BUT: The en suite looked like an amateur DIY'er had done it, not what we expectedat all."

  Pipes on show, a cracked washbasin and a broken shower riser rail meaning the shower head height couldn't be adjusted, shabby grouting round the tiles, and the brass door handle had to be cleaned to avoid the smell of brass on your hands every time you touched it. No spare quilt/blankets/pillows. Existing pillows felt "cheap" and made my face sweat every night. No dryer for washing, and no clothes line to use (a bit picky I know, but what we've come to expect from this type of accomodation at this price point, although to be fair, there isn't any mention of a dryer in the property description). No parasol for the outdoor table and chairs for shade from the sun. For a place that sleeps 8, it wasn't possible to use both showers at the same time as the water go too hot (warnings were in place in the bathrooms). The welcome pack had (amongst other things) popcorn and jammie dodgers, but no milk in the fridge on arrival which is far more useful the either of the aforementioned. The kitchen worktops comprise many small tiles, and the grouting is starting to come out of a few, and the edge strip has a very small but dirty gap all along it (a design fault of the style at the time). The tiling makes wiping up difficult as crumbs etc tend to stay in the gaps between tiles. The dishwasher stank and our first task was a drive to purchase a dishwasher cleaner. The dishwasher isn't correctly fitted, it rocks too and fro when opening and closing it, and the door handle is coming loose. We had a plague of "Drain Flies" in the kitchen so had to keep the plugs in and several inches of water in each sink to keep them out. It would be interesting to know how recently the owner visited the property as (hopefully) this review will come as a surprise. I told the owner of the broken washbasin on arrival, and she said she was aware and that it was due to be replaced shortly, however I didn't bother her with the rest of what is above as there wouldn't have been anything that she could have done there and then. Nothing that a few thousand pounds wouldn't fix, and until it's been done we won't return, but if it was all up to the standard we'd expect we'd be happy to as we had an enjoyable stay in a fab location.

Now that the summer is coming to an end, we will be undertaking any repair jobs that are necessary and will be having a new kitchen and en suite fitted. With regards to the washing line, there’s no outdoor line, however, there are clothes airers in the utility area and a ceiling drying rack in the kitchen, which provides quite a lot of drying space. On the note of spare pillows, there are 2 pillows per adult on each bed which we thought would be sufficient but thank you for your thoughts on this. We hope to welcome you back in the future. • "Cottage is in a stunning location but sadly in need of some tlc."

  The floors are extremely uneven and dangerous. Beds were hard and there were no extra pillows or instructions for the heating, the gas Aga was off on arrival. Views are amazing. Sadly, we won’t return.

  Good afternoon. Thank you for your comments. We just wanted to let you know that since your stay, we have had brand new flooring throughout the house which gives it a bright, fresh and airy feel. Due to the character of the property, the small, gradual slope in the hallway still exists, but a new handrail has been fitted for anyone that should need it. We have also had a brand new main bathroom fitted and also a new en-suite bathroom, both of which are simple to use. We have also had a brand new kitchen fitted, which still includes the Aga, as well as the main electric oven and hob. As stated on the Sykes website, the aga is always left off on arrival as not all guests want it on, but the instructions for usage are written inside the aga door. We feel that all of this work gives the house the TLC it deserved! Photos of the work will soon be published on this website, (hopefully soon after the 13th April). The welcome instructions now include details on how to adjust the heating to your liking and the hot water is permanently on. New bedding and pillows have also been purchased for each bedroom. • "I couldn’t recommend this place enough."

  It was our first family holiday, 3 couples and 2 babies. My son is 6 months and my niece is 5 months. The owner was wonderful. She text to check in on the second day and offered some great advice on what was in the area. When we arrived at the accommodation there was a cute little hamper of things we might need. The whole holiday was unreal. The views are spectacular. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. There was lots of room in each of the living areas and it was lovely and clean when we arrived. I cannot wait to go back. I’m already planning our next trip! Thanks again for having us!

• "Lovely property and garden in a beautiful tranquil setting, with wonderful views."

  So peaceful listening to the waves, watching the gannets diving for food right outside the window and occasionally spotting the bobbing head of the resident seal. Really convenient having the Coastal path literally right on the doorstep, offering superb walks along the cliffs from which you can spot porpoises swimming close to the shore. The welcome basket was a nice touch as was the welcome "text" from the owner, happy to answer any queries but never intrusive. Well equipped accommodation in a superb setting, what's not to love!

• "The house was fabulous in a wonderful location."

  For a peaceful relaxing holiday it was perfect, you could really get off grid if you wanted too here. The beds were hard though which was a shame as otherwise we couldn't fault it. Will definitely return.

• "We absolutely loved staying at this cottage."

  The location is spectacular. When the tide comes in, the house is surrounded on three sides by the sea. The weather was pretty awful when we were there but because of the views, it didn't matter and added to the adventure. We saw porpoise from the kitchen window, as well as all kinds of sea birds, and seals when we walked along the headland. The coastal path runs right by the cottage, with lovely walks. Our children loved the garden, and played on the swings and slide, and there are a range of family friendly activities and places to eat nearby. The house was clean, comfortable, warm and had everything we needed. The owner also got in touch to check we were ok. It's worth noting that there is a slope/uneven floor in part of the house which can be a little tricky for young children or those with mobility difficulties. A short handrail would help with this. We were a multi-generational family group, and while some of us really liked the quirkyness of the 'inside slope', my elderly parents were a bit nervous walking on it.

  It’s setting is stunning. We saw dolphins from the kitchen window every day. Seals popped up too very close to the house. The easy access down to the water was super, especially for my boys. They went out on their paddle boards, fished, crabbed and rock pooled right by the house. The headland is spectacular to walk. We loved this holiday so much!
