It really is a lovely place to stay if you love the moors and the beautiful North Yorkshire coast. Welcoming and so cosy, with everything you need in the kitchen. Comfortable bed and plenty of soft towels. Dan is always around if you need anything or fancy a chat. Paddock is enclosed and safe for your furry friend. Can’t wait to go back. It really feels like home from home. Thank you Dan.

Cottage is in a great location to explore Scarborough Whitby Robin hood bay and many more. We stayed end of September for a week with Skye our dog the paddock at the back was great for skye to run around. Would highly recommend ps One of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in. Thank-you Dan

Hey there you guys. I’m so happy that you enjoyed your stay here in Snainton. It was great to meet you both and Skye. Hope to maybe see you again sometime. P.s. next time if you come again the cottage should have been redecorated as planned. And I’ve bought some new knives for the cottages that came with their own sharpening sheaths. And someone else asked me about charging electric vehicles after you had. I’m presently trying to figure out a fair way of allowing guests to charge up (if they have a charger that will connect to the mains). So now you’ve no excuse not to visit again Property Owner

Upstairs downstairs is a great cottage in a good position to explore both the coast and the moors. Everything was as expected and the welcome goodies were exceptional . The cottage was spotless with a lovely comfy bed and big fluffy towels. Dan is a great host and Bob the cat was very friendly.

It was so great to see you both again and I’m so glad that you both enjoyed another stay here in Yorkshire. It was a pleasure having you to stay. Perfect guests! And as always I can’t overstate how much I appreciate how spotlessly clean you had left the cottage. It really does make my life that little easier on a Friday changeover after a busy week of work. I didn’t even find any black and white fluff from Bob to hoover up! All the very best to you and thank you so much for your custom and great review. Danza, Bob, Dave and Charlie boy Property Owner

  • "The cottage is beautifully designed and Dan has done a fantastic job of not only saving an old building but making it really quite special."

His passion for it's restoration may have been long, and perhaps difficult, but it is something of a work of art. From the beautifully neat exterior you enter a nicely presented reception area with a beautifully designed spiral staircase, all very cleverly fitted to make the most of the space and leading to the upstairs living area. The kitchen is contemporary with lovely, quality, wooden worktops, presumably all locally made. We love cooking and it was fantastic to find every possible utensil (except one!) available and we thoroughly enjoyed working there as much as we enjoyed relaxing in the sitting room. And talking of relaxing, the bath, and bathroom, are wonderful too - warm and welcoming and plenty of towels and even flannels. The bed is amazingly comfortable, only a double but allowing plenty of space around it so you don't feel hemmed in. The garden is lovely and compact with a couple of seating areas perfect for catching the sun and keeping out of the breeze, whilst giving a bit of privacy. I was especially impressed with the clever design and spacing of the hedging - who's idea was that?! It works so well in what is quite a compact space. And then there's the communal garden with its lovely views across the fields and paddocks towards the hills of which, incidentally, you get an equally great view from the living area of the cottage. Finally (phew, I hear you sigh) the welcome both from Dan himself, and from the nice array of goodies provided, was just just perfect, all very thoughtfully done and beautifully presented. Thank you for making us feel so welcome in your lovely little cottage. Andy and Laura

Wow. What an absolutely amazing review. I’m blown away by that. Thank you so much. I’m not sure I could even come close to expressing in words how rewarding it feels to have such a great response. But make no mistake about it. I’m honoured that you have liked it here so much and it gives me such satisfaction to know that the work we put in is appreciated. See…I’m struggling to find a way to express my deep gratitude! It was lovely to have you come to stay in Snainton. Just sorry that I didn’t see much more of you (due to me and my wretched back). I really do hope that you come back for another visit next year during the summer when the sun is shining. Hopefully the young man might have shot up a few inches and he might be big enough for a ride around on the bike. He might even enjoy a trip to watch the motorbike racing at Oliver’s Mount which happens 4 times a year? That’s a good full day’s entertainment for a fairly reasonable price. • "This cottage is lovely in a really good location and has everything you could possibly need."

We have previously stayed in the one bedroom cottage next door and both of them have been finished to a very high standard. Dan is a lovely man and congratulations to him for providing the best dog friendly accommodation we have ever stayed in. The Christmas decorations wine and chocolates were a lovely touch. We would have no hesitation in recommending either of these cottages.

Comfy bed, great bathroom and spotlessly clean throughout. Great open plan living area. Minor moans, the cooker hood and workspace positions. The cottage is upside down living space includes quite a bit of the roof slope. Add in a cooker hood canopy with glass hood perfectly at eye level, whilst cooking or preparing food I constantly banged my head or my eye! Then saucepans struggled to cook 2 veg and potatoes on a Sunday lunch. Final little moan , no cleaning materials, like hob cleaner for the glass electric hob, shower or bath cleaner, these would have helped and did not feel inclined to go,and buy them! Overall though we would return just with a crash hat for when preparing food and cooking!

  • "This cottage was a real find."

I cannot believe how clean it is! It's just great, so comfortable Dan has thought of everything. We loved it, the location was excellent, within striking distance of most everything - coast, forest, scenic drives, views, really good fish & chips (next door), local Shop (all of two minutes walk) which was excellent e.g. my favourite wine at £3 less than a supermarket I use at home. On our first day they actually put some out the back for me. And such friendly people both there and in the village. Bus stop about 1 minute away either direction and if you are lucky you will pick up en-route some fresh produce, raspberries, green beans and blackcurrants being sold outside a house but be quick, they go fast! The cottage backs onto paddocks and we were very lucky to attend the Stables open event on Sunday, great fun, and we enjoyed seeing the foal each morning. Lovely garden facility and again Dan has thoughtfully provided rustic tables and chairs for guests. Neither of us are particularly cat lovers but the two resident cats had me eating out of their paws, hello Spikey and Norman. And as for Dan, well he's one of life's characters! Thanks Dan - your cottage is lovely!

  • "Gorgeous area."

Not an ideal cottage for families with small children as stairs are quite steep and open to falls. Good for older ones but very low walls / extracted fan on oven - hit my head countless number of times. Gorgeous garden to rear of property though you need to keep checking for dog poo - had a few accidents in children’s footwear. Also falling piece of wood from Window which narrowly missed my daughters head. Apart from these few issues it was nice and comfy.

Fish and chip shop next door is outstanding and we visited the local golf centre which also provided foot golf which the kids just loved.
