• "We were absolutely delighted in every way."

  The cottage is immaculate and beautifully and stylishly presented. It is also very cosy (we were there during an unseasonal cold snap) and has every facility we needed for cooking entirely for ourselves and for every other aspect of our stay. It is also brilliantly situated in beautiful scenery with mountains in very easy reach (we are mountain walkers) and next to an arterial route between east and west making day trips to either Fort William or Inverness entirely feasible.

• "The cottage was lovely, set in a very quiet area with beautiful surrounds."

  The cottage its self was excellent, very well equipped, warm and comfortable. It had a well equipped kitchen, and lounge area and the wi-fi was great. I would highly recommend this cottage, and would not hesitate to come back for another stay.

• "Lovely place."

  Very secluded and private which is what we wanted. Amazing Wi-Fi and I work from home so that’s perfect - so great if you want to be plugged or unplugged! However, there were a couple of things to address. Sykes need to make it clear with what three words where the house is. The place was hard to find. We used the address given to us by Sykes and we were not given a what three words. So we called the host and she was unable to give us a what three words when I asked even though she mentioned it first. She also seemed very unhappy with us ringing and not at all pleasant to call at all so that was pretty uncomfortable. The sofas also need to be changed. They are the most uncomfortable sofa set I’ve ever sat on to the point of giving me backache.

• "Really enjoyed my stay at Feagour."

  It is very peaceful! The Cottage is lovely. I was pleasantly surprised! The interior looked so much nicer in real life. Very welcoming! Highly recommend! Lovely walks nearby. Guest Welcome Book had loads of helpful tips for places to visit! The cottage also now had wifi which I didn’t expect! All in all a great wee haven for having a break from a busy life!!

• "Stunning. Gorgeous."

  Amazing. This has been a superb and restful week in a beautiful cottage nestled in amongst superb scenery. Words cannot describe how relaxed we are. 11hr drive made worthwhile as we opened the gates and parked the car in the driveway. We both hated leaving but will be back in the Autumn/Winter.

• "A really lovely cottage in a spectacular location."

  The owner had put the heating on for my arrival which was thoughtful. If you love walking and spectacular scenery then this is a perfect base. Very cosy and a lovely place to stay.

• "Feagour is a lovely cottage, nicely set back from the road and very private."

  There is a neighbour, but they are not that close and we only saw the residents once. There are lovely walks directly from the cottage, and it is a good place to use as a base to travel either towards Fort William or to Aviemore. The cottage was clean and welcoming, with everything we needed, including a small chest freezer, so no worries about having too much ice-cream! The porch is large and handy for walking boots, jackets and even has a sink. The woodburning stove was set up for us on the first day, so all we had to do was light a match and it was roaring. I'd return to stay here again a heartbeat!

• "The cottage is wonderful and the setting beautiful."

  A great base for walking or trips to the surrounding area. The 3 mobile phone network does not have any signal, so is worth checking coverage and possibly getting a pay as you go sim for another network. Vodaphone gets signal in the cottage.

• "Very peaceful rural cottage set well back from main road."

  Take plenty essentials as no shop on the doorstep. Very good 4G signal but no WIFI. There is a washing machine but no drier or dishwasher. The bathroom is downstairs. If you are looking for peace, quiet and walking ( some challenging) and rugged scenery this is ideal.

• "The cottage was all we could have hoped for."

  It was extremely isolated no phone or wifi (heaven). there were so many walks on the doorstep. Although the cottage supplied an Ordnance survey map, it was only for around the cottage. There is a large mountain bike company up the road within a mile. the experience f the dark sky was amazing so many stars, you got a creck in the neck just looking at them. I would recommend the cottage to anyone that needs peace, quiet and fresh air.

• "Spent a lovely week in this beautiful cottage at the end of September."

  The whole cottage was warm, cosy and extremely well equipped with everything you would need for a relaxing break in this stunning location. The area offers plenty of walks close by and we enjoyed relaxing on the patio enjoying the garden and watching the birds on the feeders as we were blessed with warm, dry weather for most of the week. We booked this cottage for the the location and as previous reviewers have noted, yes there is lodge to the left of the property with access at the end of the cottage garden but even though it was occupied we neither saw or heard anything for the whole of our stay and didn’t find this to be an issue. Would definitely recommend this cottage and hope to return one day.

• "The pictures for this property are no longer accurate."

  There is now a second property built next to this one and a fence up around the house. This completely changed it from being an isolated forest hideaway to a property where the neighbours are too close. The privacy was also ruined by a road that had been built next to the house for access to the second property - the car from next door could then sit at their gate and could look straight into us in the kitchen. Equally, from the 2nd bedroom, we could see straight into their kitchen. This was a huge disappointment for us as we had primarily selected this property based on its isolation and privacy. Very unhappy.

• "The cottage is pictured as open in the forest and Isolated and gives the impression of living in the forest, in reality the 6ft man made fence around the whole property separating it from the new lodge next door is disappointing as we wanted such isolation the A86 running at the bottom of the track was not an issue as it wasn't busy."

  The lack of matching crockery even though it's self catering and the scratchy Bath towels the shoe lace holding the shower rail up and broken window handles made for a rugged break, we were very cosy and warm and had a wonderful break away the area is truly spectacular a great base to explore, the cottage itself needs TLC the pictures need updating as the reality of the life less dark brown leather sofas and the no longer integrated fridge as pictured, we also struggled with an intermittent main oven. The slippers were welcomed and the place could be a gem with a tad more effort and cleanliness. But we thoroughly enjoyed our rugged break in the wilds and for 4 nights it was blissfully quiet.

• "Nothing major - Very nice cottage."

  Perhaps could do with a freezer... i realised when we booked it the cottage only had a fridge for food which i thought would be o.k but with the unfortunate rainy weather we decided to eat in and there was only a small ice storage compartment in the fridge. - Other than that a very nice cottage in a nice area.

• "We really enjoyed our stay at Feagour, the cottage was clean and cosy."

  The scenery was spectacular. Aviemore, The Highland Wildlife Park and Nairn are good places to visit. If you go to Loch Ness which is also lovely, I would recommend you book a boat cruise before going. The Balavil Hotel in Newtonmore serves great food.

• "This is a beautiful cottage in its own grounds and really reflected the best of the Cairngorms, it’s surrounded by beautiful countryside and is just off a drovers trail which you can lose yourself on for hours, taking you through some spectacular countryside, the cottage itself has everything you need, is clean and the grounds are kept tidy so spending time outside is a joy in good weather, we enjoyed days out to balmoral which is a stunning drive through the Cairngorms national park plus trips to Inverness, Fort William and Loch Ness, we enjoyed regular visits in to Newtonmore for provisions and found all the locals to be very friendly and accommodating, we already miss Scotland and would love to book this cottage again next year."

  And when you sit outside you can hear the cars. Luckly there is not much traffic in that area. The area is beautiful for walkers but if you want to do things it's a long drive to anything.

• "The cottage was warm and comfortable, the wood burner was great."

  The area was quite and the views were WoW. The locals were so nice and helpful, inviting us into their home. The weather was good for December but unfortunately started snowing as we left.

• "We had a great week in Feagour."

  The cottage is lovely and while it's quite near a main road, it's surrounded by trees, so is very quiet and feels very secluded. We had everything we needed - I was concerned about the lack of a tumble dryer as we knew we'd have wet clothes, but there is a big utility room with a large drying rack and a heater, so it was no problem at all. Even our boots dried out overnight. We also did lots of cooking there and didn't want for anything in the kitchen. We loved watching the birds from the cottage in the morning and the bats at night. There's plenty to do in the area - loads of great walks nearby and easy access to Fort William and Inverness with all they have to offer. Our three year old daughter also really enjoyed spotting the wildcat statues in Newtonmore, the nearest viallge. Newtonmore is about 20 minutes' drive and has everything you'd need, including a big Co-Op and loads of lovely cafes. We'd all highly recommend Feagour - we loved our stay!

• "Very nice cottage in a in incredible area."

  We were one week together with our children in the cottage. It was wunderful. It is located very centrally, so that you can make great day trips from there. In addition, the cottage is very well maintained and clean. Clear recommendation.

• "The cottage was amazing, fully equipped everything you could possibly need was there."

  The setting is so peaceful and quaint. The children 16,10 and 20 months absolutely loved it we were lucky enough to have amazing weather and they had there breakfast, lunch and tea outside everyday. Would highly recommend and going to book again for Easter and summer next year!

• "The location is absolutely superb."

  Quiet and isolated. Loads of trees and rivers and lochs.The cottage is cosy and warm and homely and well equipped. The under floor heating in the bathroom is the best and makes having a bath really relaxing, the water was very hot and overall the cottage felt like a home. Having the log burner when it was so cold made our stay. It got so hot that we needed to open the door of the sitting room, I loved the heat but my partner wasn't as enthusiastic as he found it too hot! No complaints at all about how warm the place was and it was snowing and icey most of our stay. The only negatives (but only just) was that the double mattress is a bit weird as it slopes on one side and makes you feel as if you are going to roll out of bed. The kitchen light is too dim for cooking and the hob light wasn't working! A great relaxing place to stay and was better than expected.

• "What a fantastic cottage - it exceeded all of our expectations!"

  We were looking for somewhere remote for our break away from London and this was perfect. The location was wonderful and the cottage itself was clean and cosy. Plenty to do in the surrounding area if you like walking and outdoor activities. We spent every morning watching the birds outside with our coffee. Will definitely be recommending this to friends and will be back again in the near future!
