Bath in bedroom quaint, enjoyed using. Upstairs room fine. Stairs in our opinion dodgy, very small treads. Also steps up to lounge dodgy because of poor lighting. Flag stones not at all clean.Could not walk around in bare feet. Kitchen dark and dingy, needs more lighting. Cooker no at all clean. Did not use glass hob as dirty and greasy as was tray covered in tin foil inside oven disguising greasy tray underneath so also did not use. Kitchen table dirty underneath as only sat once with, unfortunately white trousers on. In fact such a tight squeeze not able to sit comfortably for two. Iron scorched so could not use.Toilet seat not hygienic in these times of covid. Old wooden seat. Not comfortable using so spread toilet paper all around during our stay. Appreciate history of this but repeat not hygienic. Door to toilet a waste of time. Did not sit outside due to flies and rats trying to get on the bird feeder. Every day chasing flies inside with fly spray provided despite not opening windows or patio doors. Gifts left. Very grateful, but eggs and fudge way out of date so left them obviously. Very dusty cottage throughout. Very disappointed so left two days early. No contact with us to ask why.

Dear Julian I am really sorry to hear that you never had an enjoyable stay at the Cow Byre. As you can see from all my previous feedback, we have had very positive feedback. • "The Cow Byre is one of the best holiday cottages I have stayed in."

It is so well designed, well equipped, quirky , but cosy and comfortable at the same time. It exudes peace and tranquility and makes the most of the outstanding views across the valley. Every detail and requirement is catered for and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending a stay at The Cow Byre.

  • "This is the second time we have been to the Cow Byre."

The first was in November and it did not take long to think of it when we wanted to get away after our wedding. The Cow Byre was the perfect location to relax after a busy few weeks and was excellent overall.

  • "The cottage was as we hoped: romantic, cosy, a bit unusual, comfortable, Yes, it was all of these things."

We loved the layout, appreciated the dressing gowns and slippers, cookies, essentials in the fridge. We had to turn down the radiators as it simply got too warm with the outside weather remaining mild. Bath very much impressed my wife, the quality and comfort of the bed impressed as both. We would be very happy to make a future booking.

  • "A fabulous quirky property."

Spent a couple of cold November days relaxing in the cottage watching the birds, and thrilled to see the red squirrels on a few occasions.Loved the bath and the cosiness.Only thing missing was a hot tub in the secluded area of the patio.Strange that there was a glass panel in the bathroom door ! Great value for money, and will be returning next year hopefully.
