  • "The property was very nice and convenient unfortunately there is no shop or pub and had to go into hornsea for everything which wasn't far."

The cottage it's self was perfect and the beds were so comfortable the welcome pack was good and if in area again wouldn't think twice about staying here again I could also recommend the luck garden restaurant and mai Indian restaurant in hornsea both where excellent.

  • "The New Chapel was a pleasant development in itself, but there was no view from the windows which were very high up on the walls."

The thing that upset us most was that despite Sykes website claiming that there was a shop and a pub within 5 minutes walk there were no such facilities in the entire village. We walked all round it. There had been a pub but it was closed. I would never have booked it if I had known in advance so I feel I have been misled by Sykes. The yellow information file at the property also listed a pub as being available. But it was not true. Quiet drink at a pub before dinner would have been a joy but we had to drive miles to the nearest and therefore could not drink.

  • "It is a very clever conversion and has produced a quality cottage; only the front and the windows remind you that it was a chapel Both bedrooms have en-suite and there is a good size living area."

Parking is straight outside the chapel; the wifi is good and there is a smart TV; it is very quiet and peaceful The kitchen needs its equipment updated for those who wish to cook

  • "Pre trip cleaning was a bit patchy and having 2 bicycles left in lounge area is clearly a bad idea as is no spare bin bags,no kitchen towels and out of date info re village facilities and it should be made clear that the bike store is just a ring to put a chain on outside."

That said we had a good week in a charming cottage with good wifi and friendly and helpful host and hostess in Mike and Dawn so anyone thinking of a break in this area should be happy to use the New Chapel.

  • "Our stay at the New Chapel was excellent."

All the comforts of home. Two bedrooms with own showers and toilet and wash basin is something you don’t find in most accommodations. The kitchen also had everything you need. Over very comfortable and just like home. Just one comment to correct the information of the property. There is no pub or shop in the village.

Everything we needed was available. Bike hire available too. Parking on the road was fine as a quiet road. Local walks but no local shop/pub. Easy to travel into Hornsea town and large Tesco. Would happily recommend both Chapels as we stayed in the smaller unit before.

  • "Lovely cottage and enjoyed a wonderful stay."

Have scored the accuracy as only 3 out of 4 as the pub has now closed - some time ago by the look af things - and no site of a shop. Neither of these things bothered us but may bother some so should really be corrected. The accuracy for the cottage itself was spot on - 4 out of 4. The kitchen has everything required, lovely dining area, and the beds were very comfortable. Would recommend this cottage to anyone - wonderful base location to explore wonderful countryside and beaches. Very good communication with owners as well - no issues whatsoever.

Not near a shop but is advertised as being , local pub has very limited opening hours and is shut Monday and Tuesdays. ( no mention when booking) very poor phone reception in chapel . Lovely owners , property lovely and clean k but had we know not as listed no shop , local pub with limited opening and poor phone connection we would not have booked . Spend all holiday walking to end of road or going out, to get any phone reception , so far from ideal .

We could see and smell how clean it was when we arrived and were put at ease straight away. It was a pity that covid restrictions meant that the kitchen equipment was limited and the books and dvds had been removed. Would thoroughly recommend it to people wanting to explore such an interesting part of Yorkshire.

The owners had thought of everything with a surprise welcome box and extras like soaps and coffee and tea. The property was situated in a quiet spot, in walking distance to a nice pub and a short drive to Hornsea. In Hornsea there were lovely places to eat and we particularly loved the Italian restaurant. Would definitely recommend!

  • "We let ourselves in and found a lovely room in front of us, with 3 settees and a couple of chairs."

And a lovely looking fireplace. The downstairs loo was a bonus. The kitchen/diner had all we needed, with a lovely welcome package of beer, fizz, biscuits and uht milk in the fridge. We used the smaller bedroom, with the zip and link bed, which was very firm. There was plenty of storage space. You need to make sure the immersion heater is on, otherwise there is no hot water. Though lighting the stove adds to the hot water. We had no issues parking outside. The local pub, a 2 min walk away, serves great simple food, Wed's to Sun. A 1.8 mile walk takes you to the Falcon, in Withernwick. Well worth a visit, the food is great, the staff friendly and the prices are very competitive. Med Mex in Hornsea is good, as is Sonali spice, nearby. A drive to Spurn Point, is well worth the effort, it's an 8.5 mile round trip, with miles of golden sand, fabulous. Bridlington, was closed!, Flamborough a good walk and Filey lovely. The Trans Pendine Trail (TPT) is worth a walk or cycle, though Hull is not nice!! . Ps the outside cycle storage is not ideal, or overly safe, if you have expensive bikes, like us. Consider, carefully, storing them in the property!! We would highly recommend this property, its in a lovely village and area.

You have everything you need within a 10min drive, we took our bikes and used the cycle paths close by. The supermarket and Hornsea beach are also around 10mins away. The facilities in the accommodation were excellent, the village is small and there isn't anything there but plenty around including a pub a few mins walk away, it wasn't opened due to coming out of lockdown so can't comment. We took a drive to Hull which is around 30mins away and found a great city with lots to do(except during our time there) We would happily return one day.

Like staying in a Grand Designs home! it's been really thought out well with a designer interior and finish. Don't pack the kitchen sink! its well equipped and has an easy to read welcome pack. Just a little thing like having a plug in night light in my bedroom as well as easy to reach bedside lights was much appreciated. Amazing coast and country side around. Loved Hornsea very pretty the Mere, town and seafront, has everything you need 5 minute drive away. • "Whilst the chapel was lovely conversion - it somehow wasn't comfortable."

Major problem was the energy efficient lighting - fine in principle but impossible to find a spot where you could read a book - needs a decent reading lamp at least. Same problem in the rear bedroom which we used - very poor bedside lights - one of which didn't work. (Couldn't use the front bedroom as the rooflight blind will not close.) Range of kitchen equipment poor and of poor quality - difficult to cook a full meal with what was available.

  • "We felt that there were a few basic kitchen items unavailable, for example - a potato masher and a medium sized casserole dish or oven dish."

A larger frying pan would also have been useful, the one supplied was too small for pan frying fish. However, on the plus side, when we had a problem with the water failing to drain away in the shower, the owners responded to it very quickly and rectified it the same day.
