  Many thanks we do appreciate the feedback , visitors to the area help the local economy and ensure that facilities such as the pubs and shops can survive for everyone,visitors and the locals a like. We welcome constructive feedback as it help us to provide a better experience to future guests however negative unreasonable complaining without a prior conversation to the owners but to simply publish malicious nonsense is unhelpful and asks the question why should we bother ? • "Nice cottage but not worthy of 5 stars as there were a few issues with the cottage."

  1. No welcome pack, not even a packet of biscuits, milk etc. The first time in over 25 years of staying in holiday cottages that I have not had a welcome pack. 2. No information on where the rubbish bins were and what day the bins were emptied. 3. No information on where the log store was. Checked with a neighbour who showed me where the log store was but this was padlocked and no key was available in the cottage so we had to buy our own fire lighters, kindling and logs as there was only a small basket of logs available in the cottage, an expense we had not catered for. Your description clearly states all fuel for the stove is included in the rent, this is not the case. 4. One of the storage heaters in the living room did not work so it was chilly in the evenings if the fire wasn’t used. 5. Not one empty kitchen cupboard available for us to use so had to pile all our dry goods on the kitchen windowsill. 6. No storage in the bedroom as the wardrobe drawer, the wardrobe itself and under the bed was crammed full of bedding and towels. Again we had to pile jumpers on the windowsill as there were only tiny drawers available to use in the bedside cabinets and the chest of drawers. 7. No where available to store our two suitcases so we had to scrabble about under the bed (which was filthy) trying to move everything around so we could at least get one case under there. We then had to keep moving the other case around the bedroom as the bedroom is small. 8. I was informed by the owner that there was no hairdryer or iron - a 5 star property without the basics? 9. The patio area was ankle deep in leaves and clearly had not been swept in weeks. The patio furniture was also dirty and I had to wipe all this down and get rid of all the leaves before we could use anything outside. Surely the cleaners should sweep the patio and wipe the furniture down? 10. The settee in the living room was very low and there was a metal bar that stuck in you when you sat down. I know it was a bed settee but surely it would be better to buy a quality settee for a 5 star property. We enjoyed our week but the above issues did take the edge off the cottage. As I say definitely not worthy of 5 stars, we have stayed in far better properties that you have given 3 and 4 stars for.

  We would like to point out that the 5 stars are given by Sykes and not a decision made by the cottage owners. However , we are not quite sure where actually you have been staying for the last 25 years as welcome packs are a rarity and we have been staying in cottages for over 40 years and seldom see them , however we could look at adding these but in all fairness you are the first guests ever to complain...ever... There is usually a laminated welcome note that is situated on the table this lists all usual points such as bins , log store , instructions for appliance etc - obviously this has been mislaid and you could have simply made a call to us as you did when you arrived for the key instructions and we would have advised. There is always kindling , firelighters in the small basket by the fire and logs in the large basket under the stairs - enough for most people for one week The storage heater has two switches one either side of the heater - one side had been switched OFF , again the instructions for these appliances are in one of the wallets - however you could have called us.... Not one kitchen cupboard available - want on earth did you bring with you to eat ? And not much luck with the bedroom either ? , we can only think that the cleaners had not put bedding up into the roof cupboard , there are also two baskets under the bed which are for clean towels and sheets - there is plenty of room for small luggage for a weeks visit but not a month in Benidorm... There is a hairdryer in the top dresser drawer - yes no iron its a holiday cottage in the dales not a business park travel lodge Its also small , one bedroom cottage like the description not a time travelling police box... We will have a word with the cleaner but we wont be sacking anyone over such a petty issue. The bed sofa is a year old , perhaps you need to eat more and move around on your knees next time, not that'll there be a next time as your now black listed.. the b Property Owner

• "Fantastic little cottage in a very picturesque location."

  We were only the second people in after a major renovation following severe flooding and hopefully many more will follow us because there is much to admire here. The next door Red Lion pub is also excellent, nearby Reeth has lovely pubs and cafes and the entire area is perfect for walking. Great place to stay.

• "Really nice cottage for 2 people."

  Very comfortable and clean lovely bathroom, and compact kitchen with all appliances/utensils. Worth highlighting that there is no washing machine. Also that parking opposite pub is limited, and not allowed outside pub. Pub next door has WiFi connection.

• "The cottage was fine."

  Comfortable, good facilities, the bed was nice and warm. Many of the previous visitors moaned about lack of WiFi but this wasn’t stated in the blurb. What was and we couldn’t find was ‘supply of logs for fire’. We couldn’t find the logstore but plenty of cheap wood from local shops. I’m sure it will be very nice when the weather warms up and you can sit outside.

• "The t v did not work as it was by sat dish ."

  The owner came out but could not fix it he got an engineer out and he could not fix it , but no tv for a week oh joy. Great pub next door what more do you need.

• "Lovely cottage for two, very tastefully reconstructed and located in a nice, small village with a pub nearby."

  Organization was perfect, very friendly contact with the owner. Weather conditions were changing and somehow unpredictable - no surprise for us, it was a winter in Northern England...Thanks !

• "This cottage was in a gorgeous little hamlet next to an old pub, handy for walkers and cyclists."

  Gets full on darts night. The cottage was very cosy and the log burner was lovely and warming. Kitchen was so well equipped with modern appliances. We cooked most nights. The bed was very comfortable and warm, only downside was the bathroom was a bit cold in mid winter, but the shower was great. The Christmas tree was a nice thought . Good pubs in Reeth, and The Tan Hill Inn was a Good place to walk from especially in the snow.

  Small and cozy with everything we wanted. No wifi but landlady in next door pub very obliging and good for a chat. Would book again if ever returned.

  Brig End was in an idyllic location. Cottage recently renovated and finished to a high standard. The fire was an added bonus. Already booked again. Only snag coffee machine needs replacing as it didn't work. Really looking forward to staying again!
