"Diane and Alistair were the perfect hosts."
They were never too obvious despite being in close proximity to our cottage, but always available for any query. The cottage was tremendous in every aspect, well-equipped, and exactly what you expect in a home away from home. The local area is of outstanding beauty with plenty of things to occupy a week away. The games barn, complete with a huge trampoline, simply finished off what was a memorable stay for our family. Highly recommended, and we will return again. Thank you, Steve & Lynn

"Lovely, comfortable cottage."
Well thought out and furnished. Could just have done with more serving spoons and a microwaveable dish to cook the haggis in. Many thanks

"Had a very enjoyable break, would recommend ."
Hope to be back in the future.

"We stayed for a week near the end of November."
4 adults, 2 dogs. The cottage was absolutely lovely, it's the perfect location just outside the Cairngorms for exploring and plenty of walks right outside the cottage. The owners were super pleasant too. It felt like a home away from home. Well sized cottage and garden. We'd happily come back!

"Really enjoyed our stay at Hazel Lodge."
Great cottage in a great location, a good base to explore the surrounding area. Our kids loved the games barn too, a nice touch. Perfect to keep them entertained before heading out for the day or in the evening. Would definitely return to Hazel Lodge again.

"We had a lovely 7 night stay, wonderful walks straight from Hazel Lodge, I would recommend fly spray for yourself and a tick collar for your four legged friend whilst out walking."
Hazel Lodge is very comfortable with everything you could need, plenty of space inside to retreat to, the views outside are incredible and the wildlife is awesome, we saw so much including an owl! The lads really made use of the play barn which has so much in there to do. The owners are lovely and we would definitely come back.

Fully equipped with the games barn a nice touch. Owners very helpful. Full instructions and directions giving in advance. Enjoyable stay.

"Perfect location for us and the dogs."
Large back garden for them to run around. Accommodation extremely comfortable and had everthing you could possibly need. Clean with lots of thoughtful touches. Very warm and spacious house in a beautiful peaceful location. Owners close by if you need them. Thank you again, we had a wonderful time.

"A lovely family who were totally unimposing but at the same time most helpful."
I would recommend this place to anyone. They deserve more than 5 stars!!! Such a delightful setting too. Plentiful local walks and such wonderful scenery and wildlife too. I couldn't fault the place.

"We spent new year in Hazel Lodge as three couples and it was great for our purposes."
There are three room, two doubles and one single, all of reasonable size. The living room and kitchen area are also a good size, the latter of which opens up to an outside seating area and garden. Diane was great to deal with, punctual and informative, and even went above and beyond with a couple of our group’s odd requests. She was great at providing directions and keeping in touch prior to our stay. The location was exactly what we were looking for being remote and near some lovely walks, while being a short drive to the amenities of Blairgowrie. The price we paid was great value compared to other houses we have rented. Some points to note: 1. The crockery was stacked with dirty plates below clean ones, meaning some clean plates required re-cleaning when we arrived. We re-cleaned them all out of caution. 2. Be aware to bring own supplies as the house is not well stocked. We had to buy our own toilet roll, kitchen roll and dishwasher tablets, and had to bring our own towels. The listing asks guests to bring their own bed linen but we were very grateful Diane relented on this. 3. The games room is on a rota with the nearby house and is very cold in the winter. It requires a short walk to from the property, but is well kitted out. 4. There are only enough plates, glasses etc. for six people, so the dishwasher will need to be used after each meal, especially the high ball glasses.
Thank you so much Niall for taking the time to leave such helpful feedback, it is much appreciated. Apologies you found some crockery needed cleaned, we will address this with our housekeeping staff directly. Regards linen during the covid housekeeping protocol we were requesting guests bring linen but thankfully we are now back to our usual policy of supplying all bedlinen . We supply enough toilet rolls, firelighters , fairy liquid and dishwasher tablets for a couple of days guests usually top up if required. Thank you for being lovely guests, we were happy to help with the treasure hunt! Alastair and Diane Property Owner

"Beautiful lodge in a fantastic location."
Ideal for dog owners as the garden is secure but has plenty of walks nearby. Reekie Linn falls are 5 mins away (in car) we enjoyed the views. Must say it’s not for the faint hearted as the path is on the edge of the STEEP gorge.

"Really lovely, warm, spacious and comfortable house."
Games room a great bonus!. Owners very helpful and attentive without being at all intrusive. Beautiful area, numerous pleasant walks from the front door with lots of wildlife. Would certainly recommend Hazel Lodge as a base to explore the surrounding area, or just relax in the sunny enclosed garden.

"The cottage was fabulous, very clean, well equipped and in a lovely countryside location."
Lots of walks in the area. The games barn was an extra bonus. Diane and Alistair went above and beyond to ensure we had a great holiday. We wouldn’t hesitate to book this cottage again.

"If you want a relaxing holiday in great surroundings with a well appointed cottage I can’t recommend this enough."
-
"This is a lovely Holiday Cottage, clean, warm and well presented, a large and well fenced grassed garden."
CoronaVirus was a bit of a damper, having to take and fit all bedding covers, and not having any books, or literature about local amenities. Our favourite days out were a visit to the beach, combined with shopping and sightseeing in St Andrews

"Ideal for a family gathering of all ages and physical abilities from babies to seniors."
Games barn was great fun and having the enclosed garden made it safe for our dog too. Owners were very friendly and welcoming. Lovely walks from just outside the front door. Peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommended.

"The cottage was more disabled friendly than we had expected from the description which was lovely."
It is very well equipped and the friendly owners were most helpful. The garden is a genuinely escape proof garden (for dogs that is!)
-
"A lovely warm welcome from the owners and the house had everything we could have asked for."
Tastefully decorated and to a high standard. This is a true home from home with stunning views, a great base to explore the Cateran Trial or simply enjoy the views from the lovely garden.

About the location
ALYTH
Blairgowrie 5 miles; Kirriemuir 11 miles.
Nestling in the hills of the Forest of Alyth and just south of the Cairngorms National Park, Alyth can trace its history back to the 12th century and perhaps even earlier given the remains of a vitrified fort on nearby Barry Hill. Local legend has it that King Arthur’s Queen Guinevere was a prisoner here of the Pictish King Mordred. Alyth developed throughout the 19th century both due to its textiles industry and the coming of the railway. Always a popular tourist destination due to its location and the founding of a golf course at the end of the 19th century with the original 9 hole course designed by Old Tom Morris from St Andrews and extended to 18 holes in 1934,with a further two clubs added in the area. The town today has an array of shops, bars and cafés. It is close to Blairgowrie, Kirriemuir and Dunkeld and the coast at Arbroath is easily reachable. Ideal for exploring the great outdoors, Alyth is ideal for walkers, cyclists, golfers and anglers as well as skiers.
