  • "We had a lovely stay in this cottage by the sea."

We have visited Crovie many times and wondered what it would be like to stay here. It is such a peaceful location and I enjoyed being so near to the sea. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you need for your stay. We used the wood burner every evening and the living room was so cosy. There are nice walks from the cottage and plenty of places to visit along the coast, a really nice part of Scotland. We also enjoyed the welcome pack left for us.

  • "The communication with Steve the host prior and during the stay was great, it made me feel reassuring and welcoming."

The accommodation was great value for money especially if you stay as a family. The view in front of the cottage was spectacular. The facilities such as tv and WiFi were both very good. All the cooking equipment was more than sufficient as well. The heatings worked well as well. As it is getting cold, it might be useful to extend the programme a little. I was struggling a bit with the hot water but it was probably me. Some fellow guests mentioned about the low ceiling on the first floor; I am relatively petit so it didn’t affect me much and I think the children would find it fun and there are only two bedrooms on the first floor. Really appreciate the welcoming goodies which was a lovely gesture. Thank you!

Hi Michael, we were really sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the cleanliness of the pans and the functionality of the wood burner. This is the first time these have been mentioned in more than 80 reviews and we will fully investigate to check on the issues, as we want everyone to have a perfect stay. We hope that you enjoyed your break nevertheless. Property Owner

Lovely cottage, in a great location and very well equipped. Some really nice walks about the area with super views. Also great to sit outside the cottage, looking out at the sea when the weather is fine. On the two days that had less favourable weather, we found that the cottage can be made cosy quickly!

  • "A wonderful place and the perfect getaway for a few days over New Year."

We loved the character of the property and the village. The cottage itself was really well appointed and finished to a great standard. The beds are as comfortable as they looked, which is a rarity in holiday lets, but a very welcome surprise here. We can't wait to return and explore the area more in the summer months and would recommend you try it too!

  • "We had a brilliant time - with amazing weather throughout the week."

The house felt homely and had everything we needed. The staircase to the bedrooms was narrow and would probably be difficult for someone with mobility problems. We thoroughly enjoyed the red wine and Tunnocks left by the owners which was a lovely surprise. The road to the village was very steep but we got used to it quickly and always found somewhere to park at the bottom. Having the sea right outside the cottage was amazing. We often sat outside and watched the sun set.

Extremely clean, had everything we needed. Living room was so cosy with fire on, kitchen was spacious, large bathroom, good boot room, bedrooms spacious for lots of bags. Listening to the waves crash against the cottage at night – priceless. We were very impressed. Steve looks after this place brilliantly, is very friendly, super accommodating, answers emails quickly, let us say an extra night last minute – we would not hesitate to book again. In fact, we can’t wait to come back! Only thing I’d recommend you say to guests is to not arrive hour either side of high tide – they may get wet LOL!

49 Crovie Cottage has stolen a piece of my heart, I really didn’t want to leave. The cottage was warm and cosy and the bottle of wine and tea cakes were a wonderful welcoming touch. Everything was so clean and the log fire was all set up for lighting when we arrived. New Years Eve was so lovely with the pipers piping past our cottage. We followed them a short distance to the bonfire and midnight fireworks on the beach. Would highly recommend especially if you like to drift off to sleep listening to the sea. The property owners communication was prompt and friendly. Will miss you Crovie.

It was clean and everything was provided - including towels. Please note that especially during colder times the road up the hill can be very challenging to go up and leave the area. But other than that it was a very lovely stay (and not my last) and communication with the owners and locals was very good.

Also the height of doors entering bedrooms & lack of room height in bedroom ( i had to crawl into bed ) I am a 6' 3" man in my mid 50s & had to visit the bathroom several times each night ( which was absolutely ridiculous trying to manage all these hazards I have stated ) plus the fact how far away the bathroom actually was . The property

A characterful and quirky fisherman's cottage nestling between the base of the cliffs at the rear and the open sea to the front in the small village of Crovie.

A pathway runs along the shoreline giving pedestrian access to this row of charming cottages and the hustle and bustle of daily life is left far behind!

49 Crovie Village is a typical cottage with its gable end to the sea and quirky interior and would be ideal for a couple or small family group who want to spend carefree days walking along the rocky foreshore, watching the wonderful wildlife and soaking up the special uniqueness of the location.

There are two lovely bedrooms on the first floor both with sloping ceilings and skylight windows and the ground floor is modern and spacious.

A lovely open plan and well-equipped kitchen/dining room leads through to a cosy sitting room with a welcoming woodburning stove ensuring cosy nights in around the fire after an active day.

There are no local services in Crovie but the neighbouring and larger village of Gardenstown is just over a mile away and here there is a well-stocked village shop and local pub/restaurant.

A very pleasant walk on a good day is following the path from Crovie to Gardenstown to pick up essentials and then a return journey with different views.

The north east coast is dotted with many villages and small towns all worth a visit and the bigger towns of Banff and MacDuff offer excellent local services.

For wildlife lovers a visit to the RSPB reserve at Troup Head is a must and of course boat trips onto the Moray Firth will ensure a good view of the famous dolphins as they pass by.

This is a special cottage in a unique location ensuring an unforgettable holiday for all.

About the location

CROVIE

Gardenstown 1.6 miles.

The small village of Crovie is not only pretty but is also quite unique as no vehicles can drive through the village and access to the single line of cottages is via a path that borders the sea. Vehicles are left at a car park at the start of the village. A one time busy fishing village it is now a peaceful retreat for visitors who love the charm and gentle ambience of the community. Crovie faces west onto the Moray Firth and in the summer fabulous sunsets can be enjoyed whilst in the winter months the Northern Lights can sometimes be seen. Although a real retreat Crovie is close to the many atmospheric fishing villages all along the north east coastline each with their own history and well worth a visit.
