"Amazing cottage in the most beautiful location."
Perfect size for 8 of us (all adults). The welcome pack was a lovely gesture on arriving. For a big house the Aga kept everything feeling toastie at rhe end of October (although we did do really well with the weather.) Added bonus on first night was witnessing the northern lights out the back and I've never seen so many stars. Beds were really comfortable and bedrooms were a great size. Kitchen had everything we needed although I didn't have the guts to try cooking in the Aga! We found a few things were a bit dated but it added to the whole ambience of the cottage. We had a lovely break including the dog who I think was very sad to leave!

"The farmhouse was lovely, cozy, and in the most beautiful setting."
The owners couldn't have been more helpful, especially as ours was a very last minute booking due to our original plans changing suddenly. We are so grateful to Dee for the hospitality, and for being so friendly and understanding. We are delighted we got to stay in the farmhouse, and hope we can return one day. It had everything we needed, lots of space, was clean and warm and comfortable. Thank you so much!

"A lovely farmhouse that we would use again."
Very cosy and clean with everything we needed. We had a lovely family Christmas there with a beautiful tree and decorations provided by the owner. The surrounding countryside which we already knew well is absolutely stunning. We would recommend this property to anyone wishing to experience the best of Scottish hospitality.

"Ideal for our purposes as a family get together."
Spacious for four couples but had an intimacy as well. Fantastically well converted still with a farmhouse feel. Old doors and Bakelite handles

"Everything perfect, we had a wonderful stay at Rottal farm."
We were just missing a few basics in the kitchen such as tea, sugar, oil etc.
Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We are so sorry about the missing basics! We do usually have a stock in the kitchen pantry. Sounds like you had a great stay nonetheless. We hope to see you again. Property Owner

"Our stay at Rottal Farmhouse was amazing."
A wonderful basket of treats and a bunch of flowers welcomed us to the property. The house was always cosy thanks to the continuously running Aga, which was great for cooking too. The beds were so comfy that I am planning to buy the same for my home. Location is private and peaceful with many walks with the dog on the doorstep. Local makers market was a surprise bonus. Recommend the cottage for all.
Thank you for your lovely comments. Property Owner

"Everything was as described and clean and comfortable."
The AGA made the kitchen very cosy, but we would have appreciated some instructions on cooking with the AGA. There was a lovely welcome pack and 2 pints of milk supplied, and plenty dishwasher tablets. It was well equipped generally. It is quite remote, but amongst stunning countryside. We would definitely recommend staying here.
Thank you for your comments. We have ordered an Aga guide on reading your feedback. Apologies if you had any difficulties with the Aga. Property Owner

"Perfect cottage for exploring the Angus Glens."
Very comfortable house with all the facilities you require with plenty of space for evenings in,dining, cooking and space for all your boots/wellies/coats etc. Large enclosed garden with great views of the Glen and beyond. The Estate workers are very friendly and Louise is always on hand if any problems arise, but also leaves you alone to enjoy your stay. The welcome pack of local Beer,Gin,cake, chocolates and candles was much appreciated. There is no issue of being cold in the evenings with 2 log burners,Aga and very efficient heating as well of plenty of hot water. The estate is making great efforts with environmental issues which is good to see.

"Really enjoyed a family holiday for my 60th in this farmhouse of really good character."
Very nice welcome pack and a warm welcome (literally) as we walked into the kitchen with its superb AGA cooker. Very hot, controllable radiators and spacious rooms (all of them) made it a good relaxing break. We really liked the fact that this house is on a wealthy estate. A short drive up the valley provides a variety of walks in stunning scenery, including the 2 Munro's, Driesh and Mayar. Thank you all, especially Louise.
Thank you for these lovely comments Kevin and for bringing the sunshine with you! Hope to see you again.... maybe for your 70th! Property Owner

"The only downside was in the e-mailed reminder to pay the balance of the holiday 6 weeks beforehand."
The time given for this was very short, and could easily have been missed had i been away for any reason.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Rottal Farmhouse."
The Farmhouse is spacious and therefore provides plenty of room for the numbers it can sleep (max 8). The location is amazing (middle of nowhere) with stunning views all around. Walks are plentiful and the enclosed garden to allow our dog to run free was an enormous bonus. The kitchen was stocked and a great size but didn’t have enough utensils (e.g pint glasses, drinking glasses) for the number of guests staying. The boot room for boots and coats and the utility room for our dog were really helpful and helped to keep the main house less cluttered. The bedrooms were of generous proportions with plenty of storage and the beds were very cosy - we all slept soundly every night. The ensuite to one of the bedrooms upstairs had a super shower but no storage / shelf for bathroom items (eg toothpaste, toothbrushes) so nothing could be unpacked properly. The main bathroom was tired and the shower head wasn’t working well (kept falling off and spraying water everywhere). Everyday we had ample hot water and the log burners were a real treat on the odd day we needed to light them. Overall we had an excellent stay at Rottal Farmhouse and LOVED our week near Glen Clova - a magical part of Scotland. We will definitely return in the future as there is so much more to explore.

"This is the email I sent to the Rottal Estate, who I believe forwarded it to yourself."
I am writing to inform you of my dissatisfaction with the cleanliness/hygiene of our seven day stay at the Rottal Farm House from the 30th July to 6th August. Although there were a number of positives about our stay, there is a number of issues I would like to bring to your attention. Firstly, the house was not ready for our arrival. Secondly, there were a number of issues with the cleanliness/hygiene of the house, which I brought to your attention during our stay and now listing them below. Urine stains on toilets. Dirty doors, door handles, light switches and banister. Cob webs and dead insects throughout the house. Remnants of the previous guests, for example, confetti behind couch, used matches in bedside cabinet, handcream under bed, skittles under bed, tic tacs under rug in living room. Black mould on ceiling in ensuite. Dead insects in extractor fan in bathroom. Unpleasant smell in bedroom and dining room. Dust in dining room. I feel that because of the above issues, the current covid climate and we paid a substantial amount of money for our stay, I am entitled to some kind of refund. I look forward to hearing from you about the resolution of this matter. Yours sincerely Deborah Barrowman

"This was a lovely farm house in a absolutely stunning location brilliant for walking from the doorstep and in the Cairngorms."
The farmhouse was comfortable and we totally enjoyed our stay. Only one slight thing was cleanliness in bathroom which wasn’t quite clean in the bath, apart from that the rest was good and even with that it wouldn’t stop me recommending it to family and friends.Brilliant for taking your dog, very quiet location, not many people or cars, great walking in and around wonderful scenery all from a lovely comfortable house.

"Its a lovely house in a beautiful location perfect for a good break after the pressure of everyday life."
The estate staff are friendly helpful and unobtrusive. Thank you all for a lovely holiday

"Beautifully furnished, lovely location."
Warm comfortable and spacious.

"We have all really enjoyed staying at Rottal Farmhouse over the last week, the house had everything we could possibly need!"
The views from the house across and along Glen Clova were definitely a highlight, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility that the Glen has to offer. The property has an enclosed garden allowing for our dogs to be safely let off their leads. It was also a good location for us to visit other properties and castles in the surrounding area allowing for plenty of good dog walks and a chance to experience the beauty of the magnificent countryside. We highly recommend Rottal to anyone and plan to return ourselves next year.
-
"Just spent a great week at Rottal Farmhouse in the sunshine with our 3 teenage boys."
The house is beautifully furnished and decorated with different animal themes in each bedroom. It is very well kitted out and we enjoyed cooking most of our meals in the Aga and eating them in the dining room. House is also in range for supermarket home delivery. Lovely views from the house across the glen at the front and of the hills\mountains from the back. We enjoyed days out walking up Driesh\Mayar, fishing up at Loch Wharral and cycling around the loop of road between Gella bridge and Clova. Also had a meal out one evening at Glen Clova Hotel. Would thoroughly recommend a holiday in this lovely hideaway.
-
"Lovely house- very comfortable with a great location near the hillls."
We would highly recommend. We could have done with a bit more crockery and an easy method of switching the general heating on while waiting on the stoves to heat the tooms
-
"We enjoyed our stay at Rottal Farmhouse."
The property is large and well suited for a large family who wants to spread out. The enclosed garden was great for our dog as well. Nice touches like candles and a welcome cake. The beds are super comfy and having a wood burner in the lounge was a bonus, even in July! The cottage is remote, but it is ideal for getting away from it all. We recommend the walks at Glen Doll, although the car park can get busy so get there early! The Glen Cova Hotel was just open after lockdown and we had a decent meal there.

"This was our second visit to this property - and as the first we were delighted."
It is just as published - very comfy, warm, perfect location and a wonderful retreat. Yes it is off the beaten track, yes it is at least 15 miles away from anywhere which delightful. The scenery, the escapism, the beauty, the comfort all go to make it a perfect break. Would highly recommend this cottage - well worth every penny.
-
"Yes TV reception was erratic for even the basic channels although we weren't bothered that BBC or ITV were regularly unobtainable."
Vincent and his wife were very helpful with any issues. The location was stunning!
-
"Very impressed, Rottal Farmhouse was well equipped and comfortable."
All our party, including the dog, had a great time. Good location for exploring and walking. Would use the property again for a family holiday, would also recommend to friends. Well done to the owners and housekeeper.
-
"Lovely, comfortable and characterful farmhouse in a stunning location."
Perfect for our New Year family holiday. Would highly recommend, Especially loved the cosy kitchen with Aga and spacious sitting room with log burner and appreciated the comfortable beds. The only thing we felt we lacked was a chopping board in the kitchen!
-
"It would be useful to provide an inventory list as to what’s at the cottage in terms of crockery, appliances etc"
-
"Rottal Farmhouse is in the most beautiful location, Clova is just stunning."
The cottage itself is clean, warm and has an AGA, so what’s not to love! We look forward to returning again.

"The Beauty of Glen Clova and the perfect location to hill walk and see nature ..."
The Beauty of Glen Clova and the perfect location to hill walk and see nature fauna and Flaura at its best We had Beautiful weather and the cottage allowed a family party to have a reunion and perfect stay at the southern edge of the Caingorms The House was spacious and the Aga made it Home From Home The sitting room was tastefully furnished with pleasant sporting prints decorating the Walls Fishing was available from the estate and lovely to find a trust system in place to pay for the fishing taken on the Lochs No mobile phone signal was a blessing but there was internet Access at the house that allow one to keep in touch with the outside world A real get away and a lovely week at the begining of June

"Spent a fantastic weekend in Rottal Farmhouse."
Idyllic location and excellent facilities. Superbly kitted out kitchen and cosy living room were the highlights. Climbed nearby Munro's Mayar and Driesh then spent the evenings relaxing in the farmhouse. Would recommend a stay in Rottal Farmhouse to everybody!
-
"Beautiful old farm house, bit remote but we had a great relaxing holiday with kids."
Would be good If had more information regarding places to visit locally with kids/ bike trails etc. There were leaflets etc but someone with a bit more local knowledge may have supplied us with some nice places to visit. All said I still had a lovely break and house was gorgeous traditional farmhouse with loads of space.
-
"The farmhouse is beautiful and it really felt like being home from home."
I would thoroughly recommend Rottal Farmhouse.
-
"The booking process was excellent - and having used Sykes for over 5 years once again the listing, cottage and process was excellent."
The cottage was first class - absolutely loved it - sat nav post code was good. I was particularly impressed with the facilities - my only comment would be some instruction for first time users of an aga. The weather was particularly kind to us - beautiful snow the week before - one rainy day - and the rest of the week perfect ! I particularly praise the App for Sykes - it is an excellent tool and has made looking forward to the holiday so much easier and shareable.
-
"Beautiful surroundings lovely warm home WiFi didn’t meet our needs but everything else did"
-
"Very good size cottage for 8 people."
Good size family space . Great sized kitchen, which was always hot thanks to the Aga stove. Some of the rooms paintwork is a bit tired but nothing you couldn't live with. Wonderful views and walks. Maybe as an idea a secure fenced area at the front or rear for the dog would be helpful.
-
"The cottage was absolutely perfect for us."
Well equipped, beautifully decorated, warm, cosy & nicely furnished. Thanks!
-
"Absolutely beautiful house, very comfortable with everything you could want."
Gorgeous location, lots of wonderful walks.... Corrie Fee is a must.
-
"The owner was extremely helpful regarding the fishing availability."
It would have been helpful to know in advance that most of the fishing in the area is not free.

Views spectacular all round especially the snow covered Cairngorm's. Great walking from farmhouse and after a short drive further up the glen. Great to come back after walking to warm cosy farmhouse with every thing you need.

"This is a very nice, clean and comfortable cottage."
The location was perfect for us as we wanted to be away from everything for a couple of days. No phone reception for us was a bonus! We are happy to recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to get away from it all and enjoy stunning scenery. Thanks to the owners and staff for a great weekend away! We will be back.
