  • "We have previously stayed at this property and have already booked for next June - so that in itself speaks volumes!"

This is a very old cottage - previously the post office! It has magnificent views of the Straits from all of the windows at the back of the house! It is on the main road from Menai to Beaumaris so you do get road noise but to be honest an extra glass of wine at night and one’s sleeps through without hearing it too much! There are a couple of stairs in the property but my 94 year old father managed them easily! The small terraced area is seperate to the house - you have to go out of the front door and walk less than 10 yards to the gate and there are approximately 10 steep steps down to it! I sat out there every morning with my dog and a brew watching the heron get its morning feed on the waters edge! Yes there is a build up of algae but come on guys - what do you expect … it’s on the straits and is a welcome addition to the facilities! We had a couple of barbecues on it last year - granted the steps are steep so be cautious! It does not have direct access to the waters edge/beach… but a short 5 minute walk to the Gazelle and you can skim as many stones as you want and have a pint - sounds perfect to me! The property does require a few things doing to it and it would benefit from the carpet being replaced in the lounge (or replaced with a decent solid wooden flooring) but look this is one of the few properties where you can take your dog and you step straight into the house from the road side so yes there are a few marks but this does not take away from the comfort and serenity of this place! The bath in the main bedroom is out of this world! There is a property underneath the cottage but you do not hear anything and occasionally you may see their delightful Jack Russell running around like a mad thing! It’s a dogs life afterall !! All in all - I accept that some work is required but we love it and would recommend it all day long …

It's just beautiful. You couldn't get a better property to enjoy the stunning views of the Menai Straits. Having just returned from a weeks stay, can honestly stay we all didn't want to leave. The property is in a fantastic location for visiting Menai Bridge and Beaumaris and just a short walk to the Gazelle Pub. You can easily drive round Anglesey and visit the amazing sights. The owners of the property are very welcoming and friendly, thank you for the welcome treats were very much appreciated. We would all stay again in this property. Thank you and can't wait to return to our happy place ❤️

  • "This was our first stay here and we were unfortunately a little disappointed: Good - Comfortable beds in both rooms - Bath was really nice - Excellent views of the Menai - Good location as a base to explore Anglesey - Kitchen facilities overall were good Bad - The outdoor area is falsely advertised and doesn't specify that it is separate from the house."

You have to go out of the front door then down the steps this was not made apparent that it required going out of the property - with only 1 key and a door that locks behind you this was not convenient. In addition to this the outdoor area was unkept and did not match the photo's - the area was green with algae and overgrown, the furniture was not ready for use and was dirty. The area felt like an abandoned part of the home we have a photo to show this - A real shame this was not guest ready. - Cleanliness: The house was not at all as one would expect given the check in time was 4pm. Firstly the oven had not been cleaned and it had a piece of grease covered foil from the previous occupants who clearly had been using the same piece all weekend. The oven STUNK badly and as soon as we opened the door the smell filled the house - we needed to buy a scented candle and air freshner in order to get rid of it. This was hugely disappointing as that smell of burn, food and grease lingered for days. We took a photo of the state that the oven was left in but I cannot believe a cleaner would have left that as it was - we also had to cook ou first meal in the oven in such a state which was offputting. Secondly, the sofa's are filthy with stains all over them. I understand you cannot always replace sofa's/sofa covers due to an expense however I would highly recommend that you purchase some large throws so that the stains are fully covered up. It was quite offputting. Or invest in steaing/upholstery cleaning. Thirdly, the toilets were not cleaned fully, so bad in fact that we could smell urine around both toilets on our first day of arrival. These had not been cleaned fully at all as you would expect and required us to purchase cleaning products in order to rectify. Fourthly the general cleainless of the home. We understand that not every cobweb can be spotted and taken down but there were blatant areas that were not cleaned such as windows with dead bugs in them. You also have a set of drawers in the master bedroom with mould growing on the back of them. - Bedrooms - Master bedroom lacked a wardrobe which was very disappointing we had to hang our clean clothes over the clothes maid as the drawers had mould on them and could not be used. - Minor things: Wifi wasn't working on arrival and we needed to reset the router, it seems the connection is not the most stable though it got better over the week. The back of the TV HDMI slots are not big enough to plug in a conventional Wifi without a HDMR extender wire. We had to purchase one. Towels were a little low quality and didn't smell great from the start. Could do with spare towels and an upgrade to them is needed! Recommendations: - Bath Area: Add a small table next to the bath so you have a place to put drinks/phones. Also the bath can be very slippy if possible i'd suggest adding handles somewhere. - Decor: It's very outdated, some pictures are missing off the walls and paint work needs a refresh. Add a large wall mirror to living room to widen the space. - Recommend adding an extra light to the toilet area of the main bathroom, it's very dull in the evenings. - Add a wardrobe to the master bedroom - Add some plants (fake) to the bathrooms and other areas of the house this will contrast nicely with the decor (in particular the bath area) - Mirrors: Second bedroom has no mirror - You need some baking trays for things like pizza's - You need coasters in the living room - Buy some throws for the sofa's to cover up the stains - Sort out the cleaning issues - Tend to the outdoor area with a jet wash so that it feels ready for use! All in all if the cleanliness was addressed and the outdoor area was guest ready to use we'd have felt differently about our stay.

  • "Lovely apartment wasnt a cottage as such ."

Interior lovely etc couldnt fault . On advertising it said ( PETS YES) on payment it said one pet only, which caused problems at short notice. Also got the place coz out was all on one level and when we paid a few weeks later somebody put about outside area being down steps etc at side of property. Then sykes changed their description to ( outside area at side etc , no mention before) so although inside was lovely the outside area too my 97 yet old dad and my husband were inaccessible. Also we had to make arrangement for the other dog . So I woukdnt go back personally as it wasn't described correctly. If you don't have pets or elderly family it's a beautiful place .

  • "Fantastic view, comfortable beds."

However furnishings were grubby and stained, carpets were dirty and stained. Kitchen cupboards had sticky finger prints all over them and draw fronts had crumbs in the recesses also the microwave was dirty inside from previous use. The Fan in wet room wasn't working which left everything damp, wet and slippery for most of the day. Misleading listing of property no garden as stated just a small patio area that can only be accessed from the front of the property next to the busy main road. Fishing was also mention in the listing but this was not possible due to no access to the main garden or sea front. This property was listed as a cottage but is in fact a flat on the top floor of a 3 storey building with the owners occupying the lower floors and Garden with access to shore.

We welcome all feedback for the property and will take on board and try and fix all of the issues mentioned. However, we do not believe that the listing is inaccurate, there is no mention of fishing or access to a garden and the shore. As the description states, there is a delightful patio area which is accessed by external steps and this space is for the exclusive use of Glan Dwr Bach guests. The property is also clearly described as an apartment in the particulars. Property Owner

  • "A great little cottage, the only reason I marked down on giving full marks were that my husband and I are both age related disabled and found the settee and chairs far to low, we could not get up off them without help and had to spend all week either sitting on a dining chair or laying on the bed, Also, toilet very low, my husband could not get up from that on his own, thirdly, definitely a handrail to get up the step to the bathroom would have been a great help."

There was a small patio garden which we would have loved to spend a few hours in but again having about 8 or 9 steps to get up and down we could not manage them. Apart from that everything was fine. Plenty of equipment, all good quality the views were out of this world and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. Fine if you have no health issues, but if you do have you need a strong able body person to be able to help you.

The property is laid out in a line with big windows overlooking the Menai Strait. I felt like I was on a ship, which was ace. I imagine it being very exciting for kids. The property was nicely kept, and the bath is, as promised, amazing. Maybe one or two things could be upgraded but overall the property is nice and the view is astounding. It transformed being 'at base' into being as good as going out. However there is a busy road on the other side. You have to be super careful with dogs (and children). Amazing views and the experience was worth the money, but I didn't open the front door unless I was super sure the dog was properly harnessed and the lead double wrapped around may hand.

Needs a thorough clean/dusting. I only used the one bedroom, one with the view, a lot of dust especially in bathroom and there seems to be a problem with mould in some areas. I was on my own with my dog for most of the week so lots of rest and relaxation. The only slight downside is the cloeness to the main road and had to be careful that the dog didnt escape! The selling point online was the view of the strait from the main bathroom, which is wonderful. The shower is very good. The beds are comfortable. Owner is very helpful, sorting out WI-FI password for us. Wecloming Prosecco and cake Disappointing things: Soiled furnishings, window seat cover and armchair covers Towels have a dirty smell, despite us machine washing them Broken light pull in bathroom Dead insects in bathroom Cobwebs around blinds in sitting room Rusty radiator Scuffed skirting Dirty floor around Bath Dirty windows inside and out The cottage could be amazing with more attention to detail. It definitely isn't worth the £950 + we spent for 5 nights. It promises a bit of luxury but doesn't deliver this. Our first vist to Angelsey was beautiful despite the wind and rain. The addition of a newly fitted kitchen with full size fridge freezer and every cooking accessory we needed was a massive bonus, and the newly finished private patio was a real surprise. As others have already commented, the views from every window on the coast side of the cottage are amazing, and even when the weather wasn’t the best, we found ourselves gazing out watching the clouds and boats passing by our windows! We did not find the noise from passing traffic to be too intrusive, although the cottage is adjacent to the main road to Beaumaris. This is a small price to pay for the excellent views and really handy location for exploring the island and the nearby Snowdonia countryside. As a person who has some mobility issues, I personally found the accommodation to be excellent, with everything on (almost) the one level, and the effort the owner has put into creating the private patio is to be commended. Please mention to owners the dripping tap in kitchen - not a problem for us, at all, but I’m sure someone will complain. I’ve used Menai Holidays for years and never had a problem, they have always exceeded my expectations. This time I am far from happy that I had spotted GDB was not shaded out on the booking website, the week before we were travelling. This was resolved, eventually. I was told it had not been shaded out due to joining up with Sykes! There was absolutely not need for me to have been put in a stressful situation, the week before travel, and there still has been no formal apology. It was merely brushed off with ‘at least the property is free’. YES it should be free for me and my family as I booked and paid for it months ago. I do feel the latter should be shared with Menai Holidays themselves, as I say after years of no difficulties I feel that this blip, having merged with Sykes, and the response given is far from acceptable for such a previously professional business. I have paid a lot of money for a gorgeous property and expect a much better standard of ‘voice to voice’ customer service and a formal apology for such a basic confusion. Luckily for Skye’s and Menai Holiday GDB was not double booked!

Very comfortable plus well equipped kitchen. Would have given 5 stars if niggly things sorted, such as lose toilet roll holder, lack of loo roll on arrival (not loo obsessed, honest!).

  • "Fabulous views from all rooms, clean, comfortable and well equipped."

    Wished we could stay forever!

    Sep 2018

  • "The small cottage was everything we expected."

Well equipped ,clean and delightful. The only drawback was no outside access. We were with other family members in Glan Dwr below us and so shared the outside space with them. It would have put us off booking again if we had not had this option

  • "Stunning. Simply stunning."

    Linda CastreeJul 2018

  • "Beautiful views, but a more well fitting front door, or a door into lounge would omit road noise-especially when wet."

    Jun 2018

  • "It would have been 5 stars but the main road in front of the house lets it down"

    Debbie InghamMay 2018

  • "Marvellous cottage with fantastic views."

A layout that is quirky and different, but works very well. Very nicely equipped. An ideal location to visit Anglesey and North West Wales.

    R BartramMay 2018

  • "The cottage is charming with fantastic views."

Nicely laid out for four people. There were a few things lacking. There was no welcome package with manuals. No mirror in the shower room and no light above the mirror in the bathroom with tub. We did not mind not having a dishwasher but there was no washing up bowl and no dish washing liquid. Only a couple of tea towels and the pedal bin would not stay closed. Also, the addition of a salad spinner would be good. We loved our stay in Glyn Dwr Bach and hope this helps.

  • "What a very special place x"

    Karen WoodcockApr 2018

  • "Stunning location with fabulous views."

Cottage was nicely presented; just one or two tiny things... Neither of us could get the hob to work! Might be worth checking out as we're reasonably handy! A few cobwebs high up on the walls (I hoovered them up for you!) Other than that it was brilliant! Staff recommendations for walks & beaches were spot on; we loved Newborough beach especially.

  • "This cottage is a secret haven!"

Everything is perfect and I never tired of looking at the view of the beautiful Menai Straits. Truly magical.

    Karen WoodcockJan 2018

  • "Amazing views of the Menai strait from every window."

Lovely sized bedrooms and lay out all on one floor which made it easy having a toddler and baby. Good proximity to both Beaumaris and Menai Bridge.
