  • "Despite the supposed extra cleaning regime in place for COVID the cottage was tired and untidy."

  • "We loved the peace and quiet at this cottage and the beautiful garden."

Although there are other buildings on the site it felt as if we were the only occupants. At night there wasn't a sound. Well located with easy access to all parts of Anglesey and North Wales, it was comfortably furnished with an excellent shower. Great wifi too. We read previous reviews and took a fly spray but had no problems. There were sheep but no cows nearby. There is a new garden bench. We had a couple of minor queries which were responded to immediately by the caretaker. Would definitely return.

  • "Lovely cottage set in nice garden and totally secluded."

In summer it would be nice to be able to open the bifold doors onto the garden. Anglesey is a gem of a place and we will be back. Walking the coastal path so we will be back.

  • "The cottage was one of the best I have stayed in and the beautiful garden made it absolutely perfect."

The facilities in the cottage were superb, the bathroom in particular was five star. Peaceful surroundings ensured a very relaxing week. The variety of birds looked and sounded beautiful. I will definitely return to this magical cottage.

  • "It was a relief that the holiday went ahead as your sister company cancelled an earlier booking at another location with short notice despite the owner of the property telling me it had been withdrawn from the market months earlier!"

This caused a family holiday crisis with no time to rearrange. Sykes holidays still took payment for the previous holiday knowing it was unavailable.

  • "The cottage is in a perfect location, less than a 10 minute drive to 3 local attractions."

Views of Snowdonia can also be seen from the garden. The cottage itself was lovely, very clean and furnished beautifully. A few tips, take coat hangers as there are only two in the wardrobe and fly spray. The bifold doors on the cottage are wonderful, however due to the farm behind the cottage became full of cattle flies once the doors were opened. The bed was comfortable all appliances in the kitchen worked well, however there is a waste disposal fitted to the kitchen sink which left a sewer like smell everything we used the sink. As stated in a previous review the garden furniture leaves a lot to be desired, after reading this review we decided to take our own fold out camping chairs, this was a good decision and we were able to make the most of the outdoor space aswell, considering the inside of the cottage is furnished to such a high standard, some new garden furniture is definitely needed.

  • "Ideal location."

So close to everything. Cottage was amazing. Due to the current climate with COVID we planned to eat in every night. Better outside furniture would have been nice. We did have a couple of wonderfully hot days, so sitting in the garden to eat would have been perfect. Table & chair set was too small and could do with an upgrade. We did sit out, but not to eat. I would book this cottage again, and have already recommended it to family.

It is in a lovely secluded spot on the island and very quiet. We will be booking it again in the not too distant future.

  • "A very quiet location , light, airy and spacious but a lttle weird as it appeared to be a storage facilty for the owners LPs DVDs and very old books, along with other old artifacts."

The bed was very soft The garden was very attractive otherwise perfectly adequate for a weeks holiday

  • "Accommodation and facilities were very good."

However we had booked a 'luxury cottage stay' and unlike our experience at many other self-catering cottages were surprised there was not provision for making at least a drink when we arrived (no milk or coffee but some teabags). We had ordered groceries online to arrive later. We also had to go out to buy our own washing up liquid and dishcloth, soap and shower gel (one hand wash in kitchen). Compared to other 'luxury accommodation', and other bookings costing less, we felt a lack of welcome. We did have occasion to call the caretaker when the boiler failed. She was very prompt in calling a plumber who sorted it out.

  • "We enjoyed our stay very much but would like to note the following: After using the shower the bathroom smelled of dirty drains which lingered all week."

There was a black mould in both the shower drain (outflow) and the overflow for the washbasin. I found some Mr Muscle in the cupboard and sprayed the overflow and removed as much as I could with toilet paper but it needed a brush with bleach. The sealant around the shower base is all black with mould and could do with replacing. The toilet seat was also loose and kept slipping to one side. The mirror in the bathroom is so high I could only see the top of my head and likewise couldn't reach the window to open it as set well back in a recess behind the basin. The penalty of being 5' 2". I texted the house keeper to report smell in bathroom and suggested she brought some bleach for final clean up. There was also a leak on the kitchen tap at the junction of the neck and monobloc. Fortunately it dripped into the sink. Texted about this also to allow time to contact plumber. When we arrived there were 2 bath towels but only one face towel. I contacted housekeeper and when we got back in the evening one had been left on the doorstep -although not in a bag. There seems to be a trend to expecting a couple to share face towels which is not very hygenic. My husband was suffering with an eye infection so I definitely did not want to catch that! There was no small vegetable knife for chopping and no door mat so you could not help but bring in some wet/dirt onto the tiled floor. The table lamp on the sideboard has a dodgy connection and it was difficult to get the light to stay on. Would not pass Health & Safety. Sorry if you think we are knit picking as we really did enjoy our stay. The house is very comfy with a beautiful outlook and garden but it needs a little maintenance. Thanks very much. We loved Anglesey.

  • "Lovely cottage in convenient location for Newborough beach."

Cottage advertised with record/cassette player and this was one of the attractions so we could enjoy part of our own vinyl collection in evening. This was not there and this was reported to the caretaker and Menai office upon our arrival - no explanation or apology was given and the website was also amended to omit this during our stay. Also the cottage is in need of a deep clean for the following; - 1. Cooker hood extractor very dirty/greasy. 2. Large collection of framed pictures under bed were very dusty. 3. Mastic around base of shower cubicle mouldy. 4. Only one disposable waste bin bag provided. 5. Wardrobe drawer had mould spores and had to be cleaned.

  • "It was well thought out and appointed and it suited us."

A light airy interior with all the equipment we wanted. Also a lovely garden and views over the fields.

  • "This cottage was absolutely lovely and full of tasteful homely touches which meant it wasn't the usual bland interior of so many rentals."

The cottage was open plan, spacious and very warm - helped by the log fire. The location near Newborough beach and forest was excellent, although there isn't much in the way of places to eat on the doorstep (the excellent Marram Grass café is just down the road though). The only downsides were that the bathroom was very cold, it could do with underfloor heating; there were no clothes hangers in the wardrobe; the lighter for the fire was out of gas, so we had to go and buy a refill; the glass cooker hood needed a good clean as it was covered in grease. Minor points, but hence the 4 stars not 5. But we would definitely stay here again and would recommend this cottage without hesitation.

  • "Certainly value for money."

The property we stayed in provided everything you needed for the perfect holiday. It was very clean and exceptionally comfortable. The location was great too, giving you access to one of the most wonderful beaches on the island - Newborough.

  • "The toilet seat was faulty - I reported it on our 3rd day but no one ever came to look."

There were no cushions on the settees - I actually bought 4 but left two in the cottage. Could do with bath mat in bath and shower - very slippy. Only 1 chair outside - apart from the metal ones for the table . Everything else was very good but the settees are not very comfortable particularly when the weather is not good.
