  • "A cracking location for doing activities in the Llanberis area."

Grocery shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants are on the doorstep. We loved that the house was 'upside down' so you had lovely views from the kitchen and living areas. We are sure that the terrace would be a proper sun trap in the summer ( it was a bit nippy to sit out when we were there) . For walkers wanting to walk to the peak of Snowdon/Wyddfa - the Llanberis path route can be accessed easily (signposted just across the road only yards away from the front door )

  • "The property on arrival was as expected."

Clean, tidy, and as per the listing. The communication from the property caretaker was absolutely on point. She established communication about a week or so out, provided all the required information and some extra local knowledge. During our stay, we had to report an issue with the tumbledrier and she acted on this straight away. As we prepared to leave, she again spoke with us about what was required and what wasn't to allow us as easy departure as possible. Really helpful with good knowledge.

  • "Beautiful cottage and love the upside down floors!"

! Very comfortable bedrooms and view from kitchen and dining room windows was just perfect. Garden very well maintained and enjoyed the fresh blueberries from the garden. Cottage was cleaned to a high standard when we arrived. Kitchen huge. We met the caretakers when we were leaving - a credit to the owners in maintaining the cottage. Only negative is shower in main bathroom could be a power shower. Overall all, a wonderful relaxing holiday in a wonderful scenic setting and a fantastic, comfortable cottage. Will be back next year!

  • "The shower in the big bathroom was awful, really needs updating to a power shower."

We had to take it off the holder and shower by hand. The tumble dryer takes a very long time to dry clothes and isn't very energy efficient. We enjoyed our stay, the views are wonderful as is the location. The property was very clean. Dee is wonderful, she is very helpful and can't do enough to help.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Maesteg very much."

It was perfect for our party of 7. The three bedrooms that share the family bathroom are clustered together, and the two ensuite rooms are further along the corridor, which is a very convenient layout. Upstairs, the kitchen is large and well equipped, the dining room a bit of a squeeze and the lounge has seating for only 4 or 5 guests on the big corner sofa, so we used our deck chairs in there so that we could all sit together. The place was comfortable and warm, and had a good vibe. We would definitely return if we are in the area again.

  • "We loved our stay at Maesteg with three people in their 70/80 ,s it would have been better with an extra hand rail on the stairs and a toilet upstairs, the beds were the very best I slept in and it could have benefitted from an extra chair in the lounge but the property was beautiful."

The single bedroom with the en-suite needs someone taller than my 5 foot 1 to reach the shower controls.

  • "This house is an excellent base for waking with outstanding views."

The kitchen is very well equipped and having the garage/utility facilities is perfect for drying off wet walking boots etc. An extra chair in the lounge would be useful. Very good communication from the caretaker.

  • "The house was fantastic, the only thing letting it down was the unused outdoor balcony."

We brought camping chairs as we’d read other reviews but it’s a shame that such a great space is completely unused. Thanks for a fabulous stay.

  • "A great property in a great location."

Some constructive feedback: Property somewhat let down by the complete lack of garden furniture. The large roof terrace could be a good space to sit out, enjoy the much touted views, even BBQ and dine al fresco. But given the lack of outside furniture it's just a waste of space. Also only having the lawns cut once a month means the front of the property can look untidy between cuts. Also, as the property is dog friendly, guests should know that rhubarb, strawberries and blackcurrants are grown in the garden. These are a temptation for dogs (although not dangerous, they can upset tummies). Clearer guidance on recycling would also help.

  • "A fantastic property in an amazing location."

Good local facilities and easy access to Snowdonia, Anglesey etc. Lovely roof terrace with fab views - a shame there was no seating on roof - we had a couple of camping chairs with us but the area is crying out for some patio furniture. Kitchen well equipped, bedrooms spacious and a nice garden. We had 2 visits from sheep who jumped over the wall :-)

  • "A beautiful house in a beautiful place."

This 'upside down' house makes the most of the wonderful mountain scenery. Spacious, clean, well furnished, well equipped and decorated to high standard. Wood burning stove in lounge great for winter stays and roof terrace great for warmer days. Location on high street means easy walking distance and level access to a variety of shops, cafes and pubs. Lots of nearby visitor attractions and fabulous walking - lake, waterfalls, mountain and lake railways, slate museum, castle, Snowdon itself and more. Lovely well kept garden, safe for dogs and children. Very highly recommended. Our party of 7 adults had a wonderful stay.

The host was really helpful and responded quickly to any questions. The log burner was a real bonus and the beds were super comfy. Everything felt recently updated and new and an extra ‘boot room’ was great for all that walking gear. Milk in the fridge for when we arrived was an extra welcome and climbing holds above the lounge door a nice touch! We would definite stay again.

About the location

LLANBERIS

Caernarfon 7 miles; Bangor 10 miles; Betws-y-Coed 17 miles.

Dominated by the grandeur of the Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a mecca for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year, a triathlon known as the world's toughest, and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26-mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. The area is also popular for mountain biking, open water swimming and stand up paddle boarding. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 7 miles from Llanberis on the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Gardens.
