Beautiful island and a cottage with wonderful views and all the amenities we required. Thoroughly recommended for a stay on Mull.

The owner is available to speak to if anything is amiss (not likely!). This year he is tackling the question of recycling/sorting glass/plastic/paper etc. so good luck to him for this initiative.

Our ferry was cancelled due to bad weather but Donald was easy to get in touch with, responded quickly and gave us ideas of what we could do and an idea of the next ferry etc. The cottage itself has outstanding views (the pictures do not do it justice) with everything that you would need for your stay, plus extras, such as, washing detergent and dishwasher tablets. Plenty to do around the area and easily accessible to other parts of the island. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful views over the sound of Mull and great enclosed garden for the wee doggy to safely explore. We had a couple of great climbs up the hills directly behind the cottage. There’s loads of really useful info in the information folder kindly provided. The cottage itself is comfortable and super warm with the same amazing views from indoors. Highly recommend.

Good amenities. In an ideal situation to explore this beautiful island. The enclosed garden with uninterrupted magnificent views over the Sound of Mull was much enjoyed by us and our dog. We strongly recommend this property to anyone considering a break away in Mull and have booked again for next year.

The accommodation was warm, clean and comfortable and ideally situated to explore the island of Mull. We cycled a lot and the roads were very quiet and safe in March. The underfloor heating is a bonus and the views over the Sound of Mull much appreciated.

Perfect set up fir a week exploring Mull. Well cleaned and maintained. Some signs of wear but nothing you shouldn't expect given the location and turnover. Recommended.

We found the place clean and well maintained, comfortable bed, comfortable sofas and lovely big tv. The white goods were fairly new and good quality and most cutlery and crockery were in good condition , just a few pans which need replacing. We really enjoyed Mull, its scenery and fantastic wildlife, we would go back to the cottage again. Well done Donald for good quality holiday accomodation.

  • "Very very dirty on arrival ."

Dirty hob and grease dripping from bottom of oven. Bread crumbs on top of fridge and around microwave. All window frames and sills very dusty. Lounge window had line of either dog nose marks or toddler handprints across entire window Hard floors had not been washed or mopped as spilt drink stains all over Sofas have paint drips and marks where some touch ups had been done. Sofas well past useable state ,very uncomfortable and hard to get up from as the bases have sagged so much. Bathroom taps falling apart and strange smell in main bathroom Bed very uncomfortable and far too small. Ultimate no no was a toenail clipping under dining table!!! Cottage itself is lovely and great position. We booked for seven nights but left on the fourth morning as just kept finding more problems and dirt We will not be back to this cottage

Thank you for your feedback, our telephone number is posted in 4 places within the property and we are always on hand to help with any questions or issues at the property. There are several areas where phone signal can be obtained, there is also Wi-Fi. We've added new carpets into the property recently which we apologise if there was a new carpet smell from them. I was working up at the cottages for the 3 days you stayed at driftwood but our paths did not cross I always ask my guests to approach me if they need help with anything and after speaking with guests in our nearby property cleaned by the same cleaner, they were very happy with the cleanliness in the property, but we will feed your comments back to our cleaning team. Many thanks again for your comments. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, great views."

The cottage is in need of some TLC now after a probably very busy year. Scored comfort low as the sofas have passed their best and the double bed was very firm, might be to some people's taste but not ours. Kitchen was very well stocked with utensils. Entrance utility room was great especially on wet/windy days to get out of waterproofs. Underfloor heating was very efficient, cottage stayed warm throughout. Fenced areas were great for the dogs, they also liked watching the inquisitive sheep and ponies.

  • "A very peaceful break."

The cottage is warm and comfortable with lovely views. Visited in cold weather therefore the woodburner and plentiful supply of dry logs was very welcome. Good facilities at the cottage. Sits in a row of 4 cottages however each has fenced off gardens and privacy would be good if sitting out. Would be ideal for 2 or more families to each have a cottage. Although quite far from Tobermory the village of Salen has a very good Spar shop with a wide range of meat, fresh vegetables and local produce. Close to the Fishnish and Craignure ferries. Would recommend the Lochaline- Fishnish ferry crossing rather than Oban-Craignure, its a lot shorter (15mins) and you can stay in the car. Pleasant walks in the area. Would certainly rent this cottage again.

Thank you for bringing this to the owner's attention, and the owner has now addressed the issues raised with the cleaner. The property normally receives great cleanliness feedback, but the owner acknowledges this was not the case on this occasion. The complaint has been resolved to a satisfactory conclusion. . The cottage is amazing, very accommodating host, great size, great facilities, great location and even greater views.. However, for us there was a downside. the mattress in the en-suite room is a (very) firm ortho-mattress, so for us made it extremely uncomfortable.. sadly my wife and I ended up sleeping in the twin room..! Other than this I can not recommend this place enough..!!

  • "This was our second visit to this group of four delightful properties."

We now have stayed in Sunset and Driftwood. We chose to come to Mull again this year just so we could experience one of these cottages again. It was warm (underfloor heating) and very comfortable - a pleasure just to sit around on the one day when it rained for hours. The view is lovely, looking down over the sea. We did light the log stove a couple of times and this was very easy to manage, as we do have an open fire at home. Plentiful supply of logs in the utility area between the cottages. We had an issue with the TV when we tried to tune it in but a phone call to the owner solved this as he talked us through it. We would certainly choose one of these properties on our next visit to Mull.

About the location

SALEN, ISLE OF MULL

Tobermory 9 miles; Lochdon 12.5 miles; Ardalanish 41.5 miles.

On the Isle of Mull, the picturesque village of Salen is halfway between the main ferry terminal of Craignure and the island's capital, Tobermory. Salen boasts two hotels, an Italian restaurant and a coffee shop and hosts an agricultural show each summer. In and around Salen you can enjoy mountain biking, pony trekking, walking and bird watching. Salen is the ideal base for exploring this inner Hebridean island, whose highlights include the dramatic scenery of the Gribun rocks on the west coast, the delightful expanse of Calgary Bay and its beach and, of course, Tobermory, most recently used as the setting for the popular BBC children's series 'Balamory'. Tobermory is the main town on the island with a choice of restaurants and shops, a whisky distillery and chocolate factory - all well worth a visit.
