A fantastic cottage!

We fell in love with the views and the peace and quiet. Located within short driving distance of shops and nice places to eat. Cottage had everything we needed for a family stay.

I think we've been here 8/9 times now.

Perfect location, lovely comfortable property. A firm family favourite. The owners and staff are very prompt with dealing with any problems that should occur.

Our holidays for the last few years seem to have been finding solitude on remote islands.

As I had been rather ill over the winter, we didn't want to be so isolated this year. Looking at the map, Rhunacairn seemed to offer solitude but without the isolation. It turned out to be exactly that. So quiet, we could have been on a private island, but Oban and it's convenience, only a short car drive away. No RIBs, life jackets, out-boards and marine band radio. Just few minutes in the car! The view from the cottage was just as stunning as previous years on private islands. The golden brown seaweed, the pink of the sea thrift: beautiful! Although we didn't spot an otter we had plenty of wildlife encounters. Grey seals, red breasted merganser, great northern divers, heron, gulls, terns, ringed plover, sandpipers , oystercatchers.. The woodland offered chaffinch, goldfinch, chiff chaff, willow warbler, blackcap, song thrush, blackbirds, robin, wren, tawny owl.. the list goes on. Accomodation was very comfortable and very well equipped. Our first thought that there weren't enough towels was soon alayed when we discovered the drying cabinet! A first for us. Fantastic! The kitchen was very well appointed, and the second fridge in the utility room was surprisingly useful. The only downside was the carnivorous highland midge. Hardly a critisism of Rhunacairn! We enjoyed a very relaxing week in a beautiful location, with civilisation just a short car drive away.
