In the centre of Ely "The Hoist" is a lovely clean and well maintained apartment with the bonus of a parking space.

We were met by Susan and she was very welcoming and helped us in with our luggage. It is a great aprtment , well laid out and very comfortable with an excellent well equiped kitchen. There was a very nice welcoming pack. The location is brilliant close to the centre of town and it is easy to get to the station.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hoist, from the personal welcome to the excellent accommodation.

It is centrally located in Ely; just a short walk from the river, the station and the cathedral. The appartment is well equipped and very comfortable.

Great central Ely location - Cathedral and shopping ( including a Waitrose) a short walk away.

Clean and cozy with a full sized fridge freezer and plenty of kitchen equipment to cook most meals. Parking space fine for a Golf but best to reverse in and watch the high curb and wall as you reverse down the slope. Thanks for the welcome pack and the warm welcome when we arrived

Great apartment, warm and friendly greeting from our host Stephen, went though everything in detail.

I had contacted him regarding parking and possible earlier entry, both which he got back to me quite quickly.. Greeted us as we arrived, show round was great. very nice man. Parking was still an issue for me, but I have a larger vehicle than most, but was okay. Cannot fault the apartment lovely, did get my steps in walking the length of the corridor from bedroom to living room, but then I have dodgy knees and it was good excercise for me.

Wonderful apartment, clean and comfortable and best of all a few steps from the centre of the city with its markets and shops.

Enjoyed shopping trips to Bury st Edmunds and Cambridge. Had lovely meals at Le spice and Ely Turkish restaurant also a good drink and a chat with the locals in the Drayman’s son. We would highly recommend this apartment as a holiday destination.

It was a lovely apartment and everything was to a very high standard.

The layout and amount of room/storage was amazing. The location is second to none and to have so much to see and do in walking distance was a real treat. We wouldn't usually book an apartment for fear of noise from above and/or below but previous reviews indicated this wasn't an issue. However, on three evenings there was a very loud TV (or similar) above which was really annoying. The parking is not pleasant, although, we realise that these last two points are out of anyone's control.

Susan and Stephen are kind and thoughtful hosts who made sure that access was easy and comfortable for us.

The property is immaculate, very well equipped and clearly managed very well. We had everything we needed and more, including a generous basket of goodies. The Hoist, with its assigned parking space, is an excellent base for exploring Ely and the surrounding countryside. Very good value too. Highly recommended.

Delighted with our stay at this pristine well equipped apartment which was ideally placed for the town centre, the cathedral and amenities.

We could not fault the cleanliness and comfort provided. Especially appreciated the white China and immaculate kitchen utensils. The owners are to be congratulated on keeping such high standards.

it is centrally located, ideal for sightseeing in Ely and beyond. We would return again if holidaying in the area, as many other renters have (great messages in the guest book) and would recommend to others. The owner met us on arrival and messaged us on to the day we left to Thank us for our stay. Definitely 5 star rating. Parking for a medium sized car only!

Lovely flat in a location which is perfect for exploring the town.

We would definitely stay there again if we return to Ely. There was one small maintenance issue which we were told of on arrival, with instruction on working around it, and which was scheduled for repair after our departure. The introductory tour by the owner was useful in this respect and for making us aware of other information. Having read the parking description and the reviews before booking, I was concerned about the size of our car, so made enquiries with Sykes, who said it would be fine. We have a Volvo V60 and it was a little too large for the space (a few inches over the boundary line), but we managed. Reversing in made leaving the space much easier.

Extremely clean and well presented property, lovely welcome pack and little extra touches, we had a lovely week week with our grandson in very comfy beds, nice to be met by the owner and no problems the whole visit, Ely is a lovely place with lots to do.

Our host was very welcoming and helpful and we spent a very enjoyable week in Ely in this clean, spacious, well equipped apartment.

Although it is situated in a good location, minutes away from shops, the cathedral and other attractions the city has to offer, we did not find noise a problem.

We had an excellent short break at the hoist.

Sue was very friendly and helped us in with our luggage on a very cold day. The flat was warm and inviting (probably the cleanest we've ever stayed at) , and the welcome pack very generous. Others have commented on the parking which could be tricky to manage. We found that the best method was to reverse in which made driving out much easier. The flat was very centrally located in Ely but not subject to any external noise. The flat itself is modern and very well appointed and maintained to a high standard. We'd certainly stay again on any future visit to Ely.

Great apartment in a great location.

Everything was spotless, the kitchen was well-equipped, the apartment was warm, and the wi-fi worked well. It’s right by the centre of Ely, yet down a quiet side street so you have the best of both worlds. An allocated parking space is a definite plus. Lots to see and do nearby including the cathedral, the museum and Oliver Cromwell’s house. The train station is within walking distance and a trip to Cambridge is quick and cheap. I’ve stayed in lots of properties this year as I’ve been travelling round the country and this has been my favourite. Highly recommended.

Lovely week away in this very well appointed property.

It's right next to the main street in Ely so you've got easy access to shops, restaurants etc. Lots of things to see and do within a short distance-we visited the cathedral as it was free entry for the weekend and I highly recommend it along with the stained glass museum which is located inside. Station is a short walk, we did a day trip to Cambridge on the train. Lovely welcome pack and it was nice having the owner meet us at the property to show us around. Only slight negative is not being able to arrive before 5 means you do hit a lot of traffic.

We were very pleased with this modern apartment in the centre of Ely.

It had everything we needed - plus a few extras - and it was very comfortable. It was brilliant being in the centre of this fascinating city with lots of interesting shops and good pubs. My husband got the train into Cambridge to wander round rather fighting with the traffic there. We recommend The Hoist highly for people who like to be "close to the action"!

A lovely well appointed apartment in a prime location.

We had a great time exploring Ely and surrounding area and only used car once as transport links are very good. Highly recommended.

Very well equipped with everything we needed. Our only gripe was we were woken very early on Sunday morning by the market people setting up.

We had a delightful week's stay at The Hoist which is situated right in the centre of the cathedral city of Ely.

It was immaculately presented and very well appointed with comfortable furnishings, full utilities and a comprehensive range of kitchen equipment, allowing preparation of a full meal if necessary. .The welcome pack was appreciated and there was good communication with the owners. Would stay there again and recommend to others.

The location is ideal as a base to visit the surrounding area and also only a minutes walk into the market square/town and riverside walks. The private car park is an added bonus

Wow!

10 out of 10 for simply everything! Perfect location, greeted like friends, lovely welcome pack and a beautiful apartment - they have used the finest furniture and fittings and the quality throughout is evident. Very helpful communications too. Once in the first floor apartment everything is on one level. We will be back as there is so much to do in the area with the beautiful cathedral, pretty riverside walks, all the shops you could need, the market just outside AND a perfect apartment!

The property was all we hoped for and more, the photographs do not do it justice.

It was light, airy, comfortable and very well equipped and maintained. Its central, yet quiet position in Ely made it perfect for taking in the sights. Sue and Steve had thought of everything to make their guests welcome, including leaving a generous welcome basket of goodies and meeting us on arrival. We noticed from the visitor’s book that several guests had revisited often - which speaks volumes. A big ‘Thank you’ to Sue & Steve.

The apartment is excellent in every way.

Opened curtains on first morning surprised that bustling street market had set up whilst we slept.

The hoist was excellent, really well equipped and in a superb location, close to everything in Ely, which is a really nice city with good pubs and restaurants.

The hosts were especially nice, we arrived early and hoped we could just park and explore Ely until check in time, but Stephen gave us a whistle stop tour of the city and let us check in early which was great, and his son Kai helped us with our bags. So we fully recommend the hoist to anyone planning a trip to Cambridgeshire.

We did hear the market being set up in the morning but the benefits were greater, it is a long while since we have been to such a wonderful market.

As warm as you want it. Car space fine for Astra/Hyundai I30 size. You need to be able to back in downhill a little but not difficult. A bit of early noise from the nearby market setting up. Very handy for the little town centre which has all you need.

The apartment is immaculately maintained and offers all the facilities we could need. The location offers a flat walk into the centre of Ely with the market place just 50 yards away! If only my car was not so big.

Very well furnished. Only 5 mins from Sainsburys, 4 mins from Aldi, 3 mins from Waitrose, 2 mins from Market Place, 10 mins from Cathedral. And a dedicated parking place. What more could one want.

The apartment is lovely - clean, comfortable, cosy and convenient.

It's beautifully furnished and provides a wonderful base from which to explore Ely and its surrounding countryside. The owners were very welcoming and extremely helpful with recommendations for places to eat. We spent a relaxing week combining reading, touring and just wandering around Ely itself. Having a different market every day in the Market Place was great - and there was virtually no noise from it. Altogether a very restful and comfortable holiday. We would definitely recommend a stay at The Hoist.

Fantastic property and a great base to discover Cambridgeshire We had a lovely welcome from Kai who met us at the property just as we arrived.

This is a very well equipped property right in the centre of Ely.Very comfy beds and plenty of hot water from the large shower. The kitchen was very well equpped and a lovely welcome basket was a nice touch. Easy parking right next to the property which was very handy as the area is double yellow lines for most of the centre. The car only moved once during the whole week of our stay as we visited places on the train which was more relaxing than driving and finding parking.There are plenty of nice restaurants in the area and all easy to walk to and 2 minutes from the centre with lots of shops and a market. We would highly recommend this property and would love to stay again. Thank-you.

Beautiful apartment ideally located in the centre of Ely.

Everything you need , The cathedral, supermarkets, restaurants, cafe's and pubs are within a few minutes walk. Riverside walks are 15 minutes walk away while further afield are NT properties Wimpole estate and Anglesey Abbey. The apartment itself is spotlessly clean ,beautifully decorated and furnished and also has its own good sized parking space. Would definitely recommend

The apartment was clean, homey, and relaxing!

Had everything you could need and more. It was so very nice they had snacks and milk already available upon check-in. Beds were soft with plenty of pillows!

Great position so close to town.

Award loading and unloading but expected that as it’s a second floor flat. Loo took 3 flushes to get loo paper flushed. That should be looked at!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the flat was clwan and well presented and a pleasure to stay in.

The kitchen is small, but we ate out throughout our stay so not an issue. I wouldn't like to cater for 4 in it though. Parking is eccentric! An adequate space, but accessed by reversing into the space at an angle and down a small but steep incline into an enclosed area. Not for the faint hearted. However, Ely boasts a number of free large car parks which are very convenient. We did have problems with a workman's van blocking entry once, but once we'd tracked him down he left.

Lovely welcome by the owners of the property and a thoughtful welcome pack.

The Hoist is very well appointed in the centre of Ely with a Waitrose only a short walk away. We had a very comfortable stay at the Hoist. Truly a 'home from home'. The parking was challenging. Initially we were arriving by train but changed our plans at the last minute (Covid-19 restrictions) as the station is nearby, giving access to several places of interest. We hope to return to the Hoist soon.

We had a relaxing break with everything literally on the doorstep, no need to use the car.

There was a problem with the TV aerial, and the owner responded very quickly, and it was fixed as quickly as could be managed.

Beautifully appointed apartment .

Everything is new and coordinated. Close to market place and a great variety of restaurants and takeaways. Welcoming owner. We had a great week . The only downside is that the car parking is a bit challenging but it became easier over the week. The booking guidance says small or medium cars only and this is certainly true.

The apartment was spotless and we felt everything had been done to make it a Covid secure environment.

The hosts were excellent when we had a Small issue with the hot water and fixed immediately. Great restaurants within a couple of minutes walk and will deffo be returning. Window in lounge overlooking town square was lovely to watch the world go by! Convenient buses to Cambridge and surrounding areas. An excellent apartment with absolutely everything you could possibly need available. A really lovely Mother and Daughter few days break. Looking forward to returning again sometime.
