  • "Generally we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dairy but our scoring is reflective of things we feel let it down."

These being; 1/ considering that the Dairy is a self catering cottage there isn’t any cupboard space to store food that you take with you. 2/ the style of the settee which was made up of 5 cushions along the back made it the most uncomfortable settee that we have ever sat on. 3/ the living room was very dark because there was only one small window over the sink and we had to have the light on even during the day time All things could easily be addressed which, if in place would changed our scoring dramatically

We visited for the weekend to celebrate a 50th Birthday. There was so much attention to detail. Everything you might need was at hand. Complimentary tea, coffee etc.. with milk in the fridge and a bottle of prosecco. The hot tub was a lovely addition and was ready to use on arrival. Communication was excellent. Definitely pop up to the orchard and share the story with any young children. Highly recommended.

  • "What an amazing place to stay!"

There are four cottages at Lower Farm Cottages to choose from of varying sizes. We booked one of the smaller one bedroom cottages called “The Dairy” it was very spacious had a luxury super king size bed but it could be split into a twin and even had a Hot Tub as well! The cottage was lovely and clean and everything you could need was supplied such as beds made up on arrival, towels & tea-towels provided. Basket of essentials such as teabags, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, milk, biscuits and even a bottle of Prosecco to enjoy…… It’s set in peaceful countryside and you can hear the birds chirping around you. The Cottages are owned by Matt and his family and they live just next door. Matt made us feel very welcome and he was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is within a few minutes drive of lots of attractions such as Ice Cream Farm, Blue Planet Aquarium, New Brighton Beach, BeWildered and Chester its self or further afield to Liverpool or into Wales plus many more places. There’s also lots to do at the cottage like visiting the animals, watching the wildlife cams on the cottage tv of the birds on the feeders, the resident barn owls and more. There is also a sculpture trail/display in the orchard that guests can exclusively visit and enjoy, it tells a story of life at Lower Farm Cottages and the family the family’s dog Fudge. The trail is based on a book that has been written by the family’s friends and has now been published to raise donations for Alder Hey Hospital. We will be returning very soon and this will now be our place to get away and de-stress. Well Done Matt & Rachel all involved the cottages and the surroundings are lovely and a credit to you all and it’s a big 10/10 from us

Written instructions on how to use cooking appliances good. Have stayed other cottages where this was not available. Electricity went off one day Matt responded straightaway and fixed. Hot tub- fabulous immaculately clean and checked daily for bacteria/water quality. King size bed that converts to singles added bonus as allowed my friends to visit and stay overnight without extra charges. Pre- arranged with owners. Only one negative if u want to cook and eat in a serving dish, pyrex basin, and salad bowl would be handy. For real coffee drinkers like myself-there was no caffettiere. The property

Set amongst three other delightful terraced dwellings, The Dairy can be found in the rural setting of Cheshire, perfect for a romantic retreat with your loved one.

Step inside to find a glorious open-plan living space, with high ceilings and oak beams, this cottage holds plenty of charm and character.

Within the open-plan space there is a contemporary-styled kitchen, home to a selection of usual amenities, a dining area where you can enjoy a romantic meal and a plush sitting area where you can unwind for a relaxing evening in with the Smart TV providing entertainment.

Catch up on your sleep in the super-king-size bedroom, also benefiting from its own TV and en-suite shower room, it makes a perfect place to rest in between adventures.

Find your own private hot tub to the front of the property, where you can spend some time stargazing, or take a seat in the communal lawned garden with a chilled beverage in hand where you can observe the far-reaching country lands.

Take your time to meander through the surroundings and see if you can spot some special visitors, the owner of The Dairy has published a Children’s bedtime storybook called Fudge’s Evening Adventure, the idea from this story came after the Owners Daughter was treated at Alder Hey Childrens Hospital.

The tale follows Fudge, a miniature dachshund, as she embarks on a quest to find a cozy place to rest her head for the night.

Along the way, she encounters various animal friends on and around the family farm.

A beautiful wooden sculpture trail to accompany the story can be enjoyed by guests, all proceeds from the book will go to Alder Hey Children's Charity, to thank them for their wonderful service, the book is able to be purchased directly from the owner, and so far over £13000 has been raised for this amazing charity.

To add to the wonder there is also a carved animal bug hunt, and guests can watch the wildlife in comfort as wildlife cameras have been set up and can be viewed live in the property.

The animal adventures don’t stop there, as guests will have the opportunity to meet the animals that live onsite, and with ample space and areas for children to play The Dairy really is a great choice for animal lovers and families alike.

The Dairy is a delightful base from which to explore the North West of England with your loved one.

About the location

CHESTER

Liverpool 17 miles; Manchester 36 miles.

Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
