Very well equipped . Garden fantastic Daisy the dog loved it . Understood it was well water and safe to drink but Would have been nice to be forewarned how brown and discoloured it was . Left all the washing with a brown tint . Made having a bath like sitting in a bowl of Windsor soup ! . Had to buy bottled water for tea as it had a earthy taste . If something could be don’t about water would be perfect holiday house .Will return .

We are sorry you experienced problems with our water supply during your recent stay at the cottage. The water supply comes from a borehole some 100 foot underground and is filtered and treated with an ultra violet sterilising unit before entering the cottage. I suspect the very dry summer has allowed silt into the borehole and the caretaker will be asked to change the filter more frequently which should resolve the problem. We were pleased to read that in spite of the problems you experienced you intend to return Property Owner

A truly get away from it all cottage in the countryside. Fully equipped with all anyone would need in the farmhouse style kitchen. Outdoor furniture to relax in the garden after a busy day exploring the stunning surrounding. Comfortable furniture throughout. A beautifully wild garden that has all kinds of winged visitors. We even heard a cuckoo in the local woods. Not completely secure for dogs, but ok if your dog doesn’t look to escape all the time. I hope we can revisit one day.

Beautiful gardens and surrounding area, quiet and peaceful away from it all but so easy to access other areas like the lizard, lands End etc. Only small problem was the shower in ensuite doesn't get warm.

  • "Lovely property."

Plenty of room. Excellent facilities. The garden was a delight, The only major issues we had were the showers which were lukewarm and no matter how we tried to adjust them it made no difference. Would recommend to the owner to rectify as we have noted that others have had the same issue and it appears nothing has been done. Despite this it is a lovely cottage and we would thoroughly recommend this property and will be returning ourselves.

Thank you for leaving feedback, it is really useful to us. The owner is aware of the problem, and is waiting on a part from the plumber! - The Cornish Cottage Holidays Team Property Owner

  • "The location and layout of the cottage was perfect, it felt very homely and the kitchen was very well equipped."

Plenty of room for our family to spread out. The gardens even in February were lovely and a joy to walk around. However, there was quite a lot of white dog hair through out the property and on day 2 I hoovered the entire house and managed to clean most of it. Behind doors and in corners there was a lot of dust as well. The touch points on doors were very grime also. It may have been because the property was empty before us but it smelled uncomfortably damp. It took 3 days of constantly running the de humidifier (we found tucked away in a corner) before the environment felt comfortable. Even when the house was warm the master bedroom was still very cold. There was also no closing mechanism on the bedroom door. There were a few hours when we first arrived when the power was out (and had been for some time before) and as the water works off a pump, no running water or heat either. No one had made any effort to let us know about this before we arrived. Communication with Sykes cottages was excellent but it was a struggle trying to get the owners to understand why no power was an issue with 3 children! They’d left torches and emergency water in the kitchen with a small post it note. Would I recommend this property? Despite the issues - yes, but not as a winter holiday. It’s a unique cottage and with a little more care and maintenance it could be very special. It’s a shame the problems above overshadowed the stay.

We apologise for the inconvenience you suffered as a result of the power cut whilst visiting our cottage. Little Trevean is located in a heavily wooded area and prior to your arrival there were heavy winds which damaged trees and overhead power lines. The power supply company gave over optimistic completion times which were not met and consequently the caretaker was unable to vacuum the cottage as we do not have a battery cleaner. The central heating whilst it is oil fired needs a power supply as does the borehole pump. The caretaker was unaware that the problem had not been solved as her supply in Coverack was restored before your scheduled arrival time whilst our supply was restored sometime after your arrival. With the benefit of hindsight we accept that our communications could have been more helpful, but we were misled by the optimistic forecast of the power company. Property Owner

Numerous small flying bugs, probably cloths moths is bedrooms. Even though the fire was nice and the garden was great, the water and bug problems, together with poor decoration (evidence damp patch on the wall) result in my negative opinion.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and we are sorry to hear of the issues you experienced during your stay. The problem you describe with the water was due to a partially blocked filter and a call to the caretaker would have swiftly resolved this at the time. The Owners have stayed at the property since your visit and have not noticed any insects. The minor damp problem in the bedroom wall was caused by a defective chimney which has since been repaired and the wall redecorated. Property Owner

  • "This is a truly lovely house, we're talking "dream home" level, surrounded by stunning gardens."

The beds were comfortable, the showers were powerful and spacious, the kitchen was really well equipped. The gardens are this property's selling point though, with different areas to explore and relax in. The garden furniture is great - comfortable and portable, meaning we could move around the garden and sit in different areas chasing the sun or taking in a new view. I loved all the birdfeeders and it was lovely to watch all the birds using them. The garden is not secure though and there are places where wire fences have been trampled and flattened, a bit of a concern when you have a dog as we had to be especially vigilant, especially as the estate next door is a working farm. Otherwise this is a great property, and it was a pleasure to stay.

About the location

COVERACK

St Keverne 2.3 miles; Helston 11.6 miles; Falmouth 18.5 miles.

Coverack is a small fishing village on the Lizard Peninsula, a few miles from Lizard Point in Cornwall, the most southerly point on mainland Britain. Coverack is a beautiful and peaceful place to escape the main tourist routes and offers a beach in the sheltered bay, which is ideal for swimming, windsurfing, and kayaking, as well as shops, pub, and restaurants. Further amenities lie in St Keverne, which has a post office, shops and 2 traditional pubs. The Lizard Peninsula has many spectacular coves and beaches and is noted for its rare geology and plants. From Lizard Point there are wonderful sea views from the windswept cliffs, which provide fabulous walking opportunities along this stretch of the South West Coast Path. Inland is the market town of Helston, known for its Flora Day Festival, and in Gweek is The Cornish Seal Sanctuary, whilst approximately ten miles away is the Culdrose Airfield, where once a year the public are welcome to come and meet the Fleet Air Arm, the Royal Navy’s flying force. Coverack is ideally located for exploring The Lizard Peninsula, as well as the lovely seaside towns of St Ives and Falmouth and many other beaches and pretty villages.
