The hosts Janet and Pete introduced themselves when we arrived and were very welcoming. The Barn was warm and cosy. The fridge was full of local produce eggs, milk and cheese and flowers on the table. The Barn contained EVERYTHING and more you could possibly require for your stay.It was spotlessly clean and decorated to a high spec. Beautiful outlook and a perfect base to visit Bristol,Clevedon ,Wells and both Blagdon Lake and Chew Valley. Yeo Valley HQ is nearby serving great food with an amazing view. We will certainly be back to stay and recommend to friends.

The little extras that were left really were appreciated. The owners were friendly and helpful even suggesting activities for our eldest son interested in agriculture. The arrival instructions were clear and easy to follow despite arriving in the dark and the lights left on in the barn made it instantly welcoming after a long journey. The surrounding area is stunning and Bristol, Bath and Wells are within easy travelling distance for those wishing to visit. Thank you for an enjoyable break in a beautiful barn.

  • "Oxbarton barn is very well appointed, clean, tidy and comfortable."

It's positioned in a quiet rural area, backing onto fields which you are able to walk through. The garden itself is small, but can still be enjoyed. The position of Nempnett Thrubwell village means no matter which direction you enter or exit from a main road, there is about 10 minutes driving along narrow country lanes to get to the barn. This can be a challenge. Locally there is the city of Wells about 25 minutes drive away, which is quaint and has a lovely market on Wednesday and Saturday. There are little independent shops, cafes, usual high street shops and pleasant walks and tourist attractions there to explore. The city of Bristol is around 30 minutes away and Bath is about 40 minutes drive away. If you want to go to the coast, again it's not far at all as Wester Super Mare is about 30 minutes drive away. We have a 7 year old son and visited nearby attractions Puxton park, Noah's Ark zoo and went to the National Trust Tyntesfield House amongst many other things. All 3 places are suitable and worth visiting for young families and have play parks, open space, etc. Overall, this is a really lovely holiday cottage suitable for singles, couples, small families and there are plenty of places to visit and explore nearby.

  • "This was a very enjoyable stay at Oxbarton."

There was nothing that was missing from the general running of a home, loo rolls to washing powder to hand soaps and shampoo. It was, unpack your clothes and then live the holiday! The kitchen too, was well equipped, great cooker, very efficient and easy to use. The heating system in the Old Barn was excellent. The bathroom was very clean and tidy, all towels provided and shower excellent, considering it was over the bath and not a separate unit. Always the wifi is a must for my husband.....this was truly fantastic! The owners were so helpful too, good information in the property to guide you too. Lovely food and treats left for all and even dropped by to wish us a safe journey with Easter biscuits. What more could you ask? These people care about the customers, very rare in this holiday rental business.

  • "We loved Oxbarton!"

To begin with a really welcoming email from Janet and Pete a few days before we arrived. They are more than kind and helping. They decorated the house with a beautiful Christmas tree and some lovely (home-made knitted) decorations. Felt like coming home upon arrival. Some really nice extras in the fridge and our vacation was complete. Loved the woodburner, the bath and the beds with really comfy sheets! The area is beautiful with lots of things to see and do. On our departure day we had a flat tyre and they let us stay a little longer and even told us a good garage was nearby. Thank you Janet and Pete! We hope we can return some day.

  • "We had a lovely week at Oxbarton."

It was even better than the photos, spacious but cosy in a lovely, private setting. Super design of a converted barn with lots of light and views from the windows. Very well equipped, beautifully furnished, Janet and Pete very welcoming and helpful - yet discreet. Underfloor heating was a luxury though also wireless control in every room. Next to a road but very quiet - just the odd walker or horse rider or very occasional car. Lovely south facing patio area round the back looking out to the fields and another option overlooking the busy bird feeder. Everything within 20-30 minutes. Just be prepared for lots of single track roads!

  • "We had such a wonderful stay at Oxbarton Barn!"

The pictures do not do it justice, mostly because you just can't capture a feeling in a photo. The house is situated in a beautiful field, and the greenery you can see from all the windows brings such a lovely, relaxing atmosphere. The bedroom windows in particular are beautiful. The conversion has been done so thoughtfully. We made use of the access to the adjoining fields too, and the view over the nearby lake from up the hill were just lovely. Such a peaceful spot. The building had all the amenities we needed, was nice and warm (underfloor heating!) and very clean - especially reassuring during current Covid times. The local produce they'd left for us on arrival was a lovely treat too! The owners were away themselves when we arrived, but were very communicative even though we only booked with 24 hours notice, and Janet popped by later in the week to say hello (from a safe distance!) which was lovely of her. Oxbarton was also a great spot to explore the rest of Somerset from. We visited Wells, Frome, Bath, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge, the Avalon Marshes and a few local walking spots - some were closer than others, but all were within a 45 minute drive. We're not usually ones to re-visit the same place twice, as there's just too many other places to explore, but we may well come back to Oxbarton one day as it was just that lovely. Thank you so much Pete & Janet!

The cottage was of high quality and was equipped with everything you might need or want on a trip away. The surrounding area was stunning with breath taking views of the countryside and Blagdon lake. There was lots of information at the cottage on places to visit and we thought the welcome package of homemade jam, marmalade, free range eggs and milk was very thoughtful. Everything you need for a stay is provided - from luxury towels in the modern bathroom to everything you would need in the kitchen. It is comfortable, clean, well-equipped and peaceful. The underfloor heating is wonderful, hot water is plentiful and a full sized dish washer and washing machine were great. The welcome pack that was left for us was amazing and enjoyable. The owners have thought of everything and we have even bought home some ideas from there to use in our own home. The area is stunning and Oxbarton is within easy drive of Wells, Bath, Bristol, Glastonbury, Bradford-on-Avon etc and we had a chance to visit them all - there are a couple of really good grocery shops in nearby Blagdon and Churchill and loads of lovely places around to eat and drink.
