"Lovely apartment with gorgeous views."
Enjoyed a 3 night stay, very comfortable and well presented property. Gorgeous cake left by Ruth,
Thank you, Jo and I'm sorry it was so wet for you and Lola. Property Owner

"The cottage was wonderful and the location was perfect!"
We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it. Ruth was so kind and thoughtful, she greeted us on our day of arrival and left lots of yummy food and drinks for us. The dishwasher and washing machine is a great addition, we didn't have any problems using the corner sink either. The scenery from the front room is breathtaking, we'd definitely recommend going for a walk around the fields and pathways, we found Ruth's walking map very helpful. We loved meeting the sheep and horses in the local fields! Plenty of space for parking and a sweet little garden to use in nicer weather. Location was great for supermarkets/corner shops and the park and ride was only a 6 minute drive away. Would stay again in a heartbeat!
Your wonderful feedback took my breath away and thank you so much for taking the trouble to leave such positive and comprehensive comments. Property Owner

"We had a great 3 nights stay."
The cottage was light and very clean. The views are amazing even from laying in the bed. Ruth left us a lovely cake (sorry we didn't eat it) and a nice welcome bag. These little things really do make a difference. We loved it at Hillside cottage.
What lovely comments and thank you so much. Property Owner

"Positives : Nice location,lovely views ,quiet ."
Good sized TV. Eclectic styles. negatives :kitchen, sink tucked away in corner, difficult to wash up. lack of small oven trays. Oven could do with replacing. sheepskin covers on chairs & sofa bed : not sure having dogs & then humans sitting on them is very hygenic. bathroom & kitchen very small no Visitors book to leave comments. needs a bit of TLC. suggestions: jug to help fill kettle with water, pizza tray & cutter, more ovenware. Gravy jug.
Thank you for your feedback and suggestions. I would point out that the sheepskins on the chairs and sofas are for human use exclusively - no reponsible dog owner lets their dog sit on chairs in a holiday let. At Hillside Cottage, dog beds are provided for canine use. Property Owner
-
"This is a beautifully decorated upstairs apartment with far reaching rural views."
Really good bus connections to Bath which was much better than driving and parking even with dogs. The dog beds provided were great as was the enclosed garden As the listing says, the stairs are steep and challenging for an older dog. Thankyou for the milk and cake provided on arrival.
-
"Property is in a good location."
Owner was friendly and helpful and gave excellent directions. Would recommend that you use the directions from owner rather than a satnav. Looking forward to staying there again later in the year

"We really enjoyed our short stay at Hillside cottage, we came to visit Bath Spa University for an open day."
On arrival we were greeted by Ruth and the beautiful doggies and once inside the property there were biscuits and hot drink facilities available which was very much appreciated after the long journey. The bed and sofa bed were absolutely amazing and felt like sleeping on big cushions. Though it was cold due to the winter period we were advised by Ruth that we could turn up the radiators to keep warm which was lovely. There are amenities close by after a short drive to Lidl or Sainsbury's and the cottage has amazing views which makes a wonderful change to our local city views, it's also in a wonderful location for visiting either Bath or Bristol if it takes your fancy. Thank you Ruth for being so welcoming from Fran, Rob and Jorgia.

"Great holiday cottage."
Beautiful views across the countryside, and a well kept, lovely home away from away. Had all the amenities that you could ask for, and the owner left a nice little welcome package including a really nice coffee cake and some mini stollen (that we've been hunting for more of ever since, haha). Would happily stay again and would highly recommend to anyone planning to explore Bath and the rest of this corner of the country.
-
"Very comfortable, very convenient location."
The owner met us and came to see us off, and she had left tea, coffee and cake for our arrival which was a lovely touch.
-
"Really nice place, everything we needed."
Comfortable and an ideal location for our plans. Host was very nice, available and approachable. Chocolate cake was very nice too
-
"The apartment is warm and comfortable and ideally positioned for Bath, Cheddar, Wells, even Bristol if you want to drive a little further."
The owner has thought of everything, plentiful towels, cleaning materials, liquid soap etc. The bed is very comfortable, easy chairs ok but could be better! Parking space is fine but a bit tricky due to being on a steep hill. Bath Park and Ride is brilliant, about 7 minutes drive, and free if you have a bus pass! Spent 3 days of our week in Bath, lovely city.

"We found Hillside cottage to be very cosy and comfortable."
It was in a beautiful area, an excellent location to explore Wiltshire/Somerset area. The cottage was very well equipped and lots of information about the area was provided. The owner was very friendly and helpful, there was a delicious cake on arrival, which was a lovely touch and was very much appreciated.

"What an amazing find!"
Everything we could possibly need which made the place feel like home. The thoughtful gift of a lemon cake was much needed after a long journey. Couldn't have asked for a more idyllic setting. Lovely and peaceful but less than 10 minutes drive to the P&R for Bath. The best of both worlds.

"We were very excited to stay at Hillside Cottage and it certainly did not disappoint."
The cottage is situated on top of steep hill overlooking stunning views over country side with horses, sheep, pigs and chickens nearby which is delightful and peaceful. Tricky tight parking space but you get used to it. The cottage has everything you need and has home from home feel to it. There is a hilly short walk to local park, fields, shops, pubs and petrol station. The cottage is close to City of Bath which is lovely to explore. We enjoyed going to local towns, shops and Cheddar Gorge caves. It was a pleasure to stay at Hillside cottage, my Labrador enjoyed his first holiday and we would definitely like to return in future. Many thanks to Ruth. Emma, Darren & Milo

"A great place to stay in peaceful surroundings without a car."
A good walk uphill to the village for groceries and a good bus service - a daily workout. If you arrive feeling stressed then Hillside Cottage offers a restful time for restoration. Thank you for some lovely memories of rural Somerset
-
"Great, comfortable accommodation with amazing views."
Ruth was very friendly and helpful host. Highly recommended!
-
"Everything was as expected “home away from home “ however we did find that the lack of a tray for carrying stuff to the lounge was a pain maybe something for the future."
Thanks for a great week!!!
-
"Ruth was very friendly and welcoming, the apartment was very comfortable, Ruth had thoughtfully provided a lot of useful extras, which included lots of ‘doggy’ accessories."
I would definitely recommend her apartment and hope to visit again in future.
-
"This upper floor cottage is well equipped and comfortable for human and four legged friends, with access to a small and secure garden."
It situated high up on a hilly lane right next to open countryside with stunning views to greet you every morning. Where it situated provides a great base to explore locally as well as enables easy access to many key places such as Wells, Shepton Mallet and Bath. Visiting Bath was made easy & enjoyable by the Park & ride (every 15 mins) just a short drive away. Thank you Ruth for a well provided home for a week.
-
"We really enjoyed our stay at Hillside Cottage."
Such a beautiful location and we and our dogs were made to feel so welcome by Ruth.

"We enjoyed our stay at Hillside cottage."
It was extremely cosy and the owner was very welcoming in spite of our early arrival and she was only just completing her preparations . She immediately responded to our request for the use of the sofa bed and made it up on the spot. The flat is well-equipped (if anything a little over provided) but interestingly and imaginatively kitted out. The views from both rooms were splendid and the small garden provides a relaxing sitting space. Unfortunately the weather was against our making good use of it. The bonus for us was to leave the car and walk up to Peasdown to take a bus into Bath for the day and then to Wells on the following day. The part closure of the road past the property for Water Board works could have created difficulties but didn't . The property is well lit internally and the stairs have a stairgate at the top to prevent accident. All in all it was a welcome short break
-
"Our stay was so very peaceful and beautiful."
The property, region and the wonderful company of animals nearby made it very special. The owner is so inviting and very caring.
-
"We had a very relaxing stay at Hillside Cottage."
It is very quiet and peaceful. The garden was lovely and cool and we enjoyed our time in it. Ruth kindly left us a very nice bottle of wine, brownies plus tea/coffee making things and milk. We had no problems with anything. The sunrise and sunset views from the sitting room were fantastic every day and most mornings we saw hot air balloons rising over the hills. It was far too hot for us to go sightseeing but we were visiting family and we hired a barge on the canal one day and also went to the coast for a swim - perfect during a heatwave! We would love to return another time.
-
"Thank you Ruth for our lovely week at your cottage."
Everything was fabulous including the weather! Hope to come back again soon.
-
"We loved the cottage and so did our dogs."
So good to have the garden and fantastic walks from the doorstep. Very friendly owner, amazing view, good shower, comfy bed, nice and clean, very well equipped, peaceful and relaxing, great location. Some fabulous pubs nearby for food etc., great access to Bath. Was a bit worried about the space and steep stairs getting up to apartment prior to arrival but in reality neither were an Issue for us. Thanks for a lovely stay!
-
"A brilliant quirky holiday stay."
Comfortable yet homely. Amazing views from the living room and bedroom windows. Kitchen well appointed with appliances and bits’n’bobs you might of forgotten! The letting comes with it’s own enclosed well maintained garden with seating. Host very friendly and prompt with communication. Wifi excellent.
-
"Lovely cottage in very peaceful and beautiful valley with great walks for my dog from the door."
Owner was very welcoming and helpful. Park and Ride bus service into Bath was brilliant.
-
"Towels hard."
Over priced , due to owner still occupying downstairs. Hard to locate Best part was the view from the window .
-
"Ruth was really welcoming and chatted to us."
I came with my adult son as my husband was not able to come at the last minute. She immediately made up the bed in the front room as she realised we needed separate bedrooms. The views over the valley were amazing and the flat is cosy and welcoming. I would happily sat there again and recommend it to my friends
-
"Lovely cottage in a great location for exploring."
It had everything we needed and was perfect for our short family break. Would highly recommend and we will return for a longer stay.
-
"A pleasant and quiet stay, a good base to see local area and visit Bath and surrounding towns and tourist attractions."
The park and ride into Bath is only 5mins away by car and worth using if you are visiting Bath as traffic there is horrendous.
-
"Very comfortable, good vibes accommodation."
Quiet location and superb hilltop views overlooking fields and farms. Perfect size for a couple with dog (like us). Close enough to A roads to get anywhere.
-
"Excellent accommodation with all mod cons and a short walk to the village, which has an excellent bus service to Bath and a less frequent one to Wells."
Be careful if you get up at night - there are steps in unexpected places - and if you drive a 1950s Cadillac you may have trouble parking. But the cottage has stunning views, is a very comfortable place to stay, has excellent wifi, a Tv with Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime and a very pleasant and helpful landlady. If you want to eat out we can recommend The Meeting Place in the village for breakfast, lunch and snacks and, for evening dinner, Wetherspoons, in a converted cinema in Midsomer Norton.
-
"We enjoyed our stay."
The host was kind and on hand. The setting is beautiful with amazing views. It's also very peaceful. The garden is sweet and handy for sitting quietly.....just the sounds of the countryside. The apartment is very compact but has everything you might need. We found the steep steps to the first floor a slight challenge for my partner who has mobility issues and for our dog who has some arthritis. We were aware of the steps when we booked. It's just good to know. We felt the apartment was a little tired and dated, but that's simply personal taste. Very nice local walks on the doorstep too. Overall, we'd recommend here for the beauty of the location, peace and quiet and convenience to Bath, Wells and Mendips.
-
"Excellent very well presented property in a very secluded and peaceful location."
Met by owner warm friendly welcome. All amenities close at hand, Park and Ride for Bath city centre 10 minute drive or local buses.
-
"The owner Ruth was very friendly & helpful Would definately recommend a stay ..."
The owner Ruth was very friendly & helpful Would definately recommend a stay there We were warned that it was hilly, so not ideal for people with walking difficulties
-
"Hillside cottage is a lovely place."
Very dog friendly for your fury friend. Ideally located in a lovely village, easily accessible to Bath very handy for people like us visiting our daughter at university. The cottage is very well equipped, the owner left us a lovely welcome pack. Including a much appreciated bottle of wine.plus towel and poo bags for your dog incase you forget to bring them. Very dog safe garden. Very informative information file and lots of leaflets on places to visit. Overall thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend.A credit to the owner.
-
"A comfortable home with a private entrance and garden."
Beautiful, peaceful views over picturesque farmland.
-
"We were very comfortable in this accommodation and it provided everything that we needed."
The owner, Ruth lives on site and greeted us on arrival then left us to our own devices. She had thoughtfully provided milk, tea, coffee and biscuits to refresh us on arrival and a bottle of wine which went down well on our first evening. The lounge was spacious with collection of leaflets to suggest days out. The shower was good. The bed was very comfortable and there was more than enough storage space in the bedroom. Lovely countryside views from the lounge windows and plenty of places to visit within 90 minutes drive. The centre of Bath is only about 9 miles away with the Park and Ride car park conveniently only a few miles down the road which is far easier and quicker than driving all the way. There's also good walking directly from the cottage.
-
"The location , the view from the sitting room and bedroom, The flat had every facility we needed and we received a lovely warm welcome from the owner ."
-
"Lovely cottage with secluded garden."
Steep steps up to the flat, not ideal for a larger dog. I had to carry my little dog which wasn't a problem. Parking limited and somewhat tight on side of the road, ok for smaller car in layby outside. Garden fence very high so cannot see over but lovely views from the flats rear windows. Location great for Cheddar Gorge and the coast.
-
"The Cottage was amazing for its size."
It had everything that you could possibly want whilst staying in it. The owner was lovely and we even had a welcome pack on arrival, of tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and a lovely bottle of wine, which we didn’t expect. It was most welcome.
-
"The cottage is in a lovely quiet location."
Several walks are possible from the doorstep, maps provided. We had a lovely week. The owner Ruth was very helpful. She generously provided some goodies in the fridge to greet our arrival. She also came to the rescue when we got in a fight with the can opener during the week! Thank you.
-
"Lovely little flat on a hill, on the edge of a nice village Peasedown and beautiful Hamlet Carlingcot."
The flat has everything you need if you are a couple wanting to walk in the local area. Beautiful walks! Stunning views! We have an 8 month baby and have had a lovely time. Travel cot fitted in the lounge and a bumbo on the kitchen table when we ate. You couldn’t fit a high chair and two people eating, the garden is lovely all though on a slope. Bathroom is small but the double shower is great, I could have my baby in there as I showered, which is very useful! Stunning views and the sun hits the garden perfectly. Only down side is the TVs randomly loose signal at times but not for long. Glastonbury, wells, beaches north and south all about an hour and less than two, away. Locals are really friendly and all say hello. There’s no reviews recently for some reason, that I do not know Why but This flat is lovely and great for a couple (And a dog) wanting to go on local walks or Local attractions.

"The accomodation was exactly as described."
It was a fantastic place to stay. Everything we needed was there. Ruth the owner was really helpful and met us as we arrived and explained everything we needed to know. The views from the living room and the bedroom were fantastic. We stayed in the winter and the whole house house was really cozy. It is ideally suited for those wishing to explore Somerset and Wiltshire. The Georgian city of Bath is a must and is only 20 minutes away.
-
"Hillside was conveniently positioned to visit family and also visit Bath."
The apartment was warm, comfortable and clean. The host Ruth had thought of everything to tie us over with tea bags, coffee, milk and cereal. A really nice touch. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with utensils. The washer/dryer was an added bonus because the weather was awful. Having a dishwasher was brilliant too because who wants to wash up when your on holiday.
-
"Excellent really happy."
had a great break
-
"The cottage had everything we needed!"
Very dog friendly, providing beds and lots of thoughtful extras.
-
"Cottage apartment was small but had everything you needed."
It was well furnished with a comfortable bed. It was up some steep stairs but this wasn't a problem for us. We carried our little Jack Russell up as she couldn't do the stairs. We would definitely like to book again in the future.
-
"This cottage has everything needed for a comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings."
It is quirky but charming - we would happily stay there again!
-
"Lovely little place with stunning views."
Ruth made me & the dogs very welcome, and there were biscuits, milk and dog treats left for us - how lovely! Very well equipped and clean accommodation, and the garden was nice & secure for the dogs. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely use this property again - thank you.
-
"This lovely house was a pleasure to have as our base for the week."
It was initially tricky to find, but the host, Ruth came down to meet us and welcomed us into her lovely home. The views were outstanding, binoculars provided, and we enjoyed watching the birds visiting the little garden at the front. The facilities were as promised- great to have a dishwasher and washing machine too. Our dogs were made welcome with special foam beds, towels, poo bags and bowls provided! We managed to visit lots of places all within an hours drive- Bristol, Bath, Glastonbury, Cheddar gorge, Chew magna lake as well as lovely local walks from Hillside cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Somerset.
-
"Lovely quirky cottage, fantastic views and Ruth was very welcoming."
Would definitely recommend.
-
"Great base to catch the bus into Bath and avoid the traffic and parking hassle."
Four busses an hour.
-
"The wow factor with Hillside cottage was the views!"
You could see miles of beautiful countryside and wildlife and watch the graceful changing colours of the sky at sunset as well as the haze drifting down the hills. It made you feel like you were truly on holiday away from everyone and everything!
-
"Very good access to both tourist activities and also walks in the fabulous countryside."
-
"Everything was fine , we had a nice few days."
Ruth was very helpful, anything we needed she was there to help us . It was a lovely quiet place so if you want a nice piecefull break then it's ideal. We would definitely go back there .
-
"Lovely comfortable cottage with all the amenities and in a great location."
If you are interested in walking the Bath Skyline walk is a must, great views over the city. We particularly booked this location as we wanted to complete the last 20 mile section of the Kennet and Avon canal path to Bath, after each 10 mile we were able to get the train back to Bradford on Avon where we had parked our car. The trains are every hour. Bradford on Avon is very quaint and has lots of places to eat, would recommend the B.O.A. Teapot on Silver Street, the sandwiches and cream teas are a must. All in all a great week.
-
"We had a lovely stay at Hillside cottage."
The views are beautiful, the flat itself was clean and comfortable and the owner was great. Everything we needed to feel at home was provided and it was a great base for visiting Bath and the surrounding areas. I would highly recommend! The owner provides a big welcome book with information on where to visit which was great! However i don’t think it includes Lacock Abbey/Village. About 40mins drive and it was really worth a visit!
-
"We enjoyed staying in this flat."
The views were great and there are some nice walks from the door. Close proximity and easy access to Bath and it was nice to get back to the quiet and peaceful location after days out. Ruth is a great host. Attention to detail in the flat was good with a very good and welcome ‘welcome pack’. Would definitely stay here again.
-
"The villages is only a short walk away, I would go to the Red Post much better than the other."
Fish and chips were very good. Plenty of local shops and good bus service. Book your ticket on your phone it is cheaper.
-
"A very comfortable cottage with lovely views of the countryside."
-
"Due to severe weather we were two days late in arriving, The cottage was excellent, warm, comfortable and very well equipped."
Owner was very understanding and helpful. We will return to this cottage. Thank you
-
"A panoramic view onto the green, hilly landscape from almost every window and a secluded and quiet garden, this is relaxing from arrival onwards!"
-
"The location was very peaceful yet not far away from local attractions."
The cottage was cosy and comfortable and the host was welcoming. Would definitely stay again!
-
"Charming cottage with fantastic views."
Lovely owner nearby, so very handy for local info. Super location, very quiet, yet Bath just a short drive.
-
"As you approach Peasewood St John follow the cottage owners directions and not the satnav."
The distance is slightly longer but the route is easier than getting caught up in very narrow country lanes especially in the dark or at the end of a tiring journey. Cottage is located on a steep narrow hill so walkers be warned the traffic comes fast not much wriggle room to get out of the way, the same with actually driving & cycling as well. Cottage itself was very pleasant with wonderful country views including chickens in the garden not that they moved much! We had a great week cycling around, up & down Bath, Bristol & Devizes
