  • "What a little gem of a cottage, nice and warm when we arrived, the bottle of wine was a lovely touch when we entered the property."

Lovely and clean, everything you could need in the well equipped kitchen. Was also great that we could do our washing and try on the clothes airer that was provided. The only thing that was a little tricky was parking the car as I sometimes had to block the road to reverse in, however this very minor niggle would not stop me from 100% recommending Rose Cottage. I would definitely use again if we were visiting the area again. Many thanks

  • "Property is well maintained."

Very clean, beautiful kitchen. We really enjoyed the log burner , the cottage was lovely and warm. The only thing I would recommend is to upgrade the shower. It isn’t very powerful. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful- ordered a new mattress as my friend was having trouble with hers. Also brought a new pouffe round. Conservatory nice but need extra padding on the chairs. Overall would highly recommend the cottage. Thank you

The only criticism we have, is nothing to do with the property, but the road outside the cottage is rather noisy

Kitchen equipment a bit of a mish-mash. Enough glasses for a party but only one frying pan . No tongs. Just odd bits thrown in draws. Was clean apart from all the cobwebs. I cleaned them down .

  • "We were very surprised to find how spacious and well-furnished this property was."

Everything was high-end, and our host said, "anything you feel you might need, or can't find, contact me" It was my wife's birthday the following day, and after I asked for recommendations for a quality meal out, she suggested the Globe and then offered to book it for us. We had a great meal out, thanks to her kindness, and a really relaxing stay. Time moved on so quickly, but we truly did feel sorry to be leaving our cottage in Bream, Forest-of-Dean. Thank you, you made it for us. John and Jennifer, 02-09-22 for one week, but wished it had been two!

  • "Our visit to the beautiful Rose Cottage was nothing short of charming."

We loved the place and the people. From the well thought out kitchen, with everything you could want equipped, to the wood burning stove in the super comfortable living/dining room with modern TV and Netflix, comfortable bed, storage space for clothes, the relaxing conservatory, the well kept garden and more.... the attention to detail here is noticeable in providing as much as possible for the guests. There is so much to love about this great place to stay. It is as much a joy as Christine our host, who was very friendly and welcoming to us and a credit to providing a place we wouldn't hesitate in returning to! The private parking area is brilliant for offloading luggage and is safely out of the road. Fast broadband too which was a bonus. With beautiful surroundings, peaceful walks just minutes away and easy routes to surrounding areas, Rose Cottage comes with the highest recommendation from us. Thanks from Jill & Bob

The Lydney rd has very heavy traffic 24 hours ,so the property wasn't very relaxing & sleep difficult. Added to which there were rd works just outside!

Thank you for leaving feedback, we do have a covered washing line and also an airer to dry clothing and towels. The picture online does not show a towel rail. The property is close to a road so some associated noise may be heard, there was some road works during your stay, this was outside our control, I am sorry if this inconvenienced you. Property Owner

  • "Rose Cottage and our host were lovely."

The cottage was comfortable and the location is very good for exploring the Forest of Dean and surrounding area. The water pressure is not good upstairs if someone else is using the shower downstairs, but that was just a minor detail. Being right on the main road to Lydney would not have been my first choice but wasn't too much of an issue as the off street parking was good. There was no noise from the workshop opposite and having the sign outside made the cottage easy to find. The only issue I had whilst booking was with Sykes cottages and the very rude person we first spoke to who cancelled our original booking without consulting us even though we asked her not to and we were then left to find an alternative, which she also got wrong. Fortunately the second person we spoke to was nice and competent and sorted out the error. It does not make me want to use Sykes ever again, even though the holiday was eventually relaxing the stress beforehand was not what we needed.

We enjoyed the garden and having breakfast in the conservatory. We booked it because it was exactly what we were looking for and it was perfect as described. The only thing was the mattress felt a little soft/tired so a little uncomfortable. The area was lovely for walking. Most locally we enjoyed the Bream heritage walk and Clearwell caves.

  • "Lovely relaxing break in this beautiful cottage."

We booked at very short notice (same day!) but were welcomed graciously and everything was ready for us. The kitchen is impressively well-designed and stylish. There's under-floor heating in the living room and conservatory, and the whole cottage is warm and cosy. Very comfortable beds. The owner's family business, a granite and marble workshop, is across the yard, and good use has been made of their products throughout the cottage - polished granite and marble in every room; window-sills, fire-place, shelving, flooring, kitchen counters (of course).... Makes for an elegant and modern cottage, yet the old character is still there. Many thanks!

  • "The facilities on the ground floor were very good and well presented with Christmas decorations."

The first floor left something to be desired. The toilet was unacceptable! The toilet door would not close, the floor was very uneven and the toilet would only flush after several attempts. In no way is this property suitable for four people unless two were young children. We would not be prepared to stay here again.
