  • "The cottage is really remote, in the middle of fields, with no other buildings in sight, very peaceful."

No light pollution, ideal for stargazing! It is a working farm, wheat fields were harvested while I was there, but it wasn't long or too noisy. Lots of hares, kites, what I think were pheasants, and other wildlife. Saw a deer and bats were flying around the cottage in the evening. The cottage itself is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen really has everything you need. I loved the bedrooms on the mezzanine floors.

It was isolated but we loved it for that reason. There was abundant wildlife all around and opportunities to go for walks right from the door. Calcot Peak Barn was warm and cosy and well-equipped and if we'd needed any help, Stuart was just at the end of the phone. Highly recommended!

We're delighted to hear that you loved the cottage and also the peaceful location with wildlife and lovely walks so near by. We would love to welcome you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

It is more spacious on the inside than It appears on the outside but it is still cosy and comfortable. We had all of the kitchen equipment we could possibly need. The information provided regarding the locality was very useful, particularly the OS map which I spread out on the table and used daily to plan walks. The wildlife around the barn was a real pleasure to observe.

  • "We both had a wonderful stay at Calcot Peak Barn!"

, it truly is completely private and remote, with no other properties in sight, located amongst rolling fields and hedge rows with lovely views all around, Hares, Rabbits, Deer and of course Pheasants are easily seen around the Barn. The track to the property mentioned in other reviews is well maintained and wouldn't be an issue even in winter. The two bedrooms are are within earshot of each other and you'd need to be on very good terms if two couples were to stay, for a family or couple its perfect. Other than a small issue with the shower, which was fixed immediately, we simply cant find fault with our stay, it was bliss and we'll be back.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Calcot Peak Barn. It really does sound like you have had a truly magical stay. It is located in the most wonderful spot to escape every day life. What's more you have so many lovely places to visit and not to far away. We would love to welcome you back again in the future. Nice welcome pack consisting of milk, bread, butter, cheese, crackers, biscuits and wine. Lovely walking all around the area. We'd stay again if ever coming back to same area.

  • "Calcot Peak Barn was exactly what we wanted."

A comfortable place in the middle of nowhere with amazing views. We loved the fact we had so much outdoor space. We played cricket on the grass and watched the wildlife (hares, pheasants, deer, nesting kites) by day and stargazed on the patio at night. The lack of light pollution allowed us to see the Milky Way and shooting stars. Magical. And we were near enough to civilisation to enjoy some great days out too! There were a few plumbing issues in the Barn but that did not detract from what was a truly enjoyable and relaxing stay. I felt we really managed to recharge our batteries and lay down some unique memories there and I think that is the best tribute to a holiday home there is.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback, it's also one of our favourites, you really cant beat the amazing views and just how quiet it is. We hope to welcome you back again soon. Property Owner

  • "A very nice barn conversion in an open but secluded area of farmland."

The house is along a stony track which had a small number of large water puddles caused by recent heavy rain . We had been met by the lovely Jackie at a prearranged location about 1 mile from the accommodation. The barn is as described and Jackie had left a nice welcome pack of tea , milk , butter , bread , biscuits and wine . Views on all 4 sides were good and wildlife of numerous birds and Hares appeared , plus we are certain we saw 2 wild boar one early morning. The barn is a great base for trips to Cirencester, Cheltenham, Oxford, Stratford , Bristol and of the beautiful Cotswolds villages . Thank you Jackie .

  • "Calcot Peak Barn is a wonderful place to stay if you want beautiful rural isolation."

Situated down a private road it's surrounded by farmland and you'll have complete privacy. The barn itself was spotlessly clean and well equipped with helpful information provided. I was met by the lovely owner Jackie who was very friendly and helpful and there was a nice welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee, bread, biscuits etc. The location is perfect for exploring the Cotswolds and with some lovely walks on your doorstep. Also great for nature lovers as lots of birds, deer and hares on the farm. Lovely to wake up and sit out on the patio with a cup of coffee watching bunnies hop across the field - idyllic. The location is peaceful and isolated, so not the place if you want to be able to walk to a local pub or shops, but if you really want to get away from it all then this is the place to stay. I'd happily stay here again.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at Calcot Peak Barn. It's lovely to hear you loved the barn as much as we do, it's so quiet and a real getaway. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

About the location

NORTHLEACH

Bourton on the water 5.5 miles; Stow-on-the-wold 9.1 miles;

Northleach is just off the Roman road, the Fosse Way (A429) 8 miles north-east of Cirencester and 10 miles south-west of Stow-on-the-Wold, and about 7 miles from Burford - making it an excellent place to travel from if you're looking to visit these popular and attractive places. Northleach was at one time an important market town, celebrated throughout Europe as a major centre for the Cotswold wool trade! The fifteenth-century church of St Peter and St Paul, paid for by the wealthy wool merchants, was built with stone dug from the quarry in the town itself and what is now the Market Square. More recently the village has been used in a number of recent films, including the Casual Vacancy of 2015.

Note: The bedrooms are at opposite ends of the barn with privacy provided via heavy drape curtains from the rafters and that there is low balustrade unsuitable for young children.
