  • "Beautiful cottage."

Didn’t realise it was in hotel grounds when booked it which gave us access to hotel facilities as well. Grounds were Emma late and well maintained. We took our dog with us and there were treats water bowl and bed for her which was cute ☺️ The cottage was really clean and comfortable, the hitting was brilliant and used every day. We had a maintenance issue that was dealt with almost immediately. Hotel and bar staff were polite and courteous especially Thomas who normally does weddings but was in the bar on the night we went for food. Would definitely book again

  • "We booked the cottage for 3 couples but there are only two decent bedrooms."

The downstairs room is not fit for purpose and can only accommodate a single person it should not have been advertised for 6? The hotel website says it only accommodates 5 people. My son and his pregnant partner went home part way through the holiday due to this. The downstairs room and bathrooms smelled of damp.

  • "Lovely cottage, just a couple of small complaints."

We were a group of 6 1. There were some shortages with the cutlery and crockery, luckily the hotel staff resolved the issue. 2. There was also just a small round table and only 4 chairs in the garden, again the hotel came to the rescue with an additional small table and 2 chairs, although a larger garden table to seat 6 would have been nice allowing for outdoor dining. 3 No sunshade for hot weather (which it was) 4. Garden front and rear of property needed some TLC 5. There is also no wardrobe/hanging space or storage in the annex bedroom. bedroom.

  • "Unfortunately , despite the comments from the hotel responding to the Jan 2024 review we found all the same issues with the cottage overall was dirty and with black mould around all bathroom and bedroom windows, poorly equipped kitchen, dirty upholstery and floors insecure garden plus no standard live TV channels and a utility room/area we would never choose to use."

We raised our issues with Barry Tehrani the Operations Manager, he had believed that the January issues had been sorted but clearly they had not. He was most apologetic and has assured us that he will personally ensure that all issues will be rectified which we trust he will do. The gardens of the hotel are immaculate and hotel and staff lovely. Sadly our stay was spoiled by the issues we encountered so hopefully the substantial refurbishment that is required will be carried out promptly and a new cleaning regime and checking process brought in.

  • "The cottage was not as described."

The ground floor bedroom has a sofa bed and is in a separate locked building to the main house. The cottage was very dirty and the downstairs bathroom unusable due to damp and a foul smell. The beds were very hard and the whole cottage in general not very clean. Mould on inside of windows. The garden is not secure and dogs/children can easily wander to the grounds where there is open water. The kitchen is not adequately equipped with utensils for cooking. The main bathroom leaked dripping through the ceiling below. I would not recommend this cottage until it is refurbished and all issues rectified.

Dear Teresa. Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to let us know about your recent stay. The cottage has now undergone a full check and the mould on the inside of the window has been dealt with. I was also sorry to read that the mattress was not to your personal satisfaction and you felt it was too hard. We have taken your comments on board regarding the enclosed garden and we will put an action plan in place to rectify this. Once again thank you for your feedback and I can assure you that the issues raised have now all been addressed. Regards The Elvetham Hotel. Property Owner

  • "Hotel were very supportive and addressed any concerns we had at the property."

Overall very good, garden now fenced off and completely enclosed.

  • "I picked this beautiful quaint picturesque cottage mainly because it looked like it had a fully enclosed garden, which is hard to find when you have a dog."

Unfortunately the garden was not fully enclosed, my dog would have easily got out through a walkway that went up to the hotel and also he could have easily got through the copse of trees edging the garden. Luckily I took a stake just in case, which we had to use to keep the dog safe while enjoying the garden and hot tub. The house itself supplied most of the necessities but not coasters and table mats which I found hard when putting plates and drinks on the tables. Also in the information book it implied that you could order food from the hotel as long as you paid a tray charge but when ordering food, the restaurant said that the food would be cold if delivered so we had to go to the hotel bar to eat. The house was comfortable with an endless supply of towels and toiletries and there grounds of the the hotel were beautiful. We had an enjoyable stay. Thank you
