  • "We were looking for a quiet escape and boy did it deliver."

An absolute gem. The lodge is light and airy with all the facilities you could ask for. The location is in a lovely quiet, quaint, quintessential English hamlet! With walks in the woods directly behind the lodge and and a lovely English pub on your doorstep (although we didn't get to eat there - I would recommend booking ahead of your visit). We are definitely considering going back.

  • "We had a nice stay at Oak Cottage."

Clean and spacious. We had a problem with the double doors in the property on our first day . . One of them wouldn't lock. Informed Alison first thing Monday morning . The maintenance man couldn't come out til 8am Tuesday morning . We didn't like leaving it unlocked from Sunday night through til Tuesday morning , we had no choice but to get up early on Tuesday morning to let the workman in . We unfortunately didn't find the location very peaceful . The pub extraction fan was going all day and all night also lots of strimming and mowing just not very peaceful it's a shame . It was a nice touch having picnic tables adjacent to the lodges . We had to sit there because it was really shady on the veranda. The picnic tables lasted 48 hours of our hoilday then they were taken away for some reason . Parking was very tight . We have an estate car not sure u could get 2 cars on .

Hello Beverley I’m really sorry you were unhappy. I tried to get the builder out as soon as I could, that is the only time he had available. We do have to keep the grass down and it’s usually only for part of one day, if it was disturbing, I apologise. There are still two picnic benches on the grass, I am glad that you enjoyed them. We have only removed a couple as we felt there were too many, I wish you had contacted me further, I would have tried to help. Thank you for your feedback, it is always helpful. • "Oak Lodge is a beautiful, spacious and well-equipped place to stay in a quiet hamlet."

I stayed for a long weekend with my elderly parents. As everything was on one level and parking right outside it made our stay very easy and enjoyable. The lodge has everything you need, with plenty of space and storage. In fact we thought the photos didn't do it justice and it was much larger than expected! The kitchen and bathrooms are clean, modern and very nicely laid out. Bedrooms very elegant and comfortable with walk in wardrobes and extra bedding available. The gorgeous village pub (Glasshouse Inn) right beside the lodge is owned by the lodge owner, which serves amazing food. We actually had 2 meals there over the weekend because it was so lovely and had a fantastic menu. Lots of fish choice too. The only reason I didn't give Accuracy of listing a 5 star is because Sykes told us there were steps up to the property when I rang to ask about accessibility. When we arrived there were no steps, just a small ramp. We nearly didn't book this lodge because of this misinformation as my mom uses a walker and struggles with steps. But as we were finding it hard to find somewhere she said she'd manage. We were delighted to find there were no steps! I highly recommend this property.

A toilet roll in each bathroom no extras, no instructions for any appliances no DVDS in all a very badly equipted lodge. Pub next door does an expensive menu inside but the more basic menu you can only eat in the garden some thing I have never found before and I have worked in pubs eating in the garden should be the customers choice. For people that say they are very experienced they don't do it very well

We had great weather and so it was nice to be able to sit out on the deck and enjoy the sun. Unfortunately the adjacent pub was not open at the time we visited, but we found an alternative a few minutes drive away. About the only downside was access to the parking space, it was a bit tight to get into and not sure I'd want to try it with a large car.

  • "The lodge was well presented and in a lovely spot, but one thing was missing - information."

There was no booklet available which detailed local amenities, places of local interest, details of how to use the appliances within the lodge that we are not used to, Various appliances were not working upon our arrival - tv in the bedroom, ( somebody did call but unable to fix and never saw him again) cooker hob ( only one ring in operation) and had to contact owner for details, insuffient towels left for our use during our stay, ( this was rectified after a phone call to the owner) All these things should have been sorted and up and running prior to our arrival. Other than the above we enjoyed our stay in the area.

Washing machine would be useful if staying for more than a week. Large kitchen but most cupboards had little in them. Lovely pub and food but closed 3 days a week. Pleased we did not visit in the warmer weather as sleeping with the windows open would not be possible due to the noise of the pub kitchens extractor fan going 24/7.

  • "A very comfortable lodge, sitting outside can be a bit noisy due to the kitchen exhaust fan from the nearby pub."

Pub food was very good but closed Sunday evening and all day Monday and Tuesday. This was not a problem as plenty of small shops and takeaways at nearby villages. I would have liked a television in the master bedroom but apart from that a very nice stay at an ideal location to explore the Cotswolds, river wye and Glouscester.

  • "We had a good holiday despite niggles with accommodation."

At first one annoyance is not too bad but as week went on and others were noticed starts to really rattle. The lodge has a lot of blinds which were all very dusty , one ring out of 4 working on hob made challenge cooking , dishwasher needed rinse aid and salt so not always cleaning that well. Some of the issues I could have brought to Alison’s attention at time but for most of week we had no phone signal or internet so communication with anyone including Alison not easy . We were advised internet was area problem and not just at our premises but when wanting to research next days destinations check routes mileage etc very frustrating. We would not choose to re visit
