  • "Cottage was better than expected despite the rough and long farm track as the new large kitchens gave our five families meeting up plenty of space."

We were a full house with two dogs. We all enjoyed the games room. Lovely views to the fields. Good furniture and shower rooms. Very warm so heating was kept off most of the time.I left a note on a few things like could do with checking out but we all managed to prepare meals and celebrate and explore the area. Host called in to check we were happy. Was an excellent venue for large family groups.

  • "The property was excellent."

Plenty of cutlery, crockery for the amount of people the cottage can take. Also loads of towels in the cupboards. Two dishwashers and cookers was a great help when catering for so many. The cottage was one mile up a farm track so this it made it very quiet, great to get away from noise.

  • "This is the second time our large extended family group, with ages ranging from 1 to 70 plus, has stayed at Durstone Cottages."

We were made very welcome and enjoyed our stay thoroughly despite disappointing weather. The games room certainly helped to keep us entertained. Since last year the second kitchen has been upgraded to a high and spacious standard making catering for a large group much more manageable and pleasurable.

Perfect for a large group. Beautifully presented and it had everything we needed. The highlight was the games room which both the adults and kids enjoyed. We were also greeted with a lovely welcome hamper. We will definitely return.

Bedrooms were fab size for sharing, along with the long dining table was great so everyone could sit down together. The fact that it had 2 kitchens was great for cooking. The surroundings were beautiful. The property was clean. and we parked 7 cars. The owners were lovely.

  • "On behalf of the whole family who stayed at Durnstone Cottage this weekend, I am pleased to say that we all enjoyed our stay."

The space of the two living rooms kitchens and best of all the communal dining area, was a lovely place to socialise and spend time with the family. We did not have to bring any kitchen appliances of our own, nor any pillows or towels. They were all supplied for us from all the plates we needed to the toasters and urn. The amount of space provided in the cottage allowed someone to find a place of their own for some time alone if they ever needed space. The games room was popular among children and adults alike, a much go-to place for heaps of fun, as well as the sandpit and swing! It was a pleasant area to go walk the dog in and there were no disturbances. Overall, it was a spectacular place for a family reunion - Phoebe, age 11 (:

  • "Sarah the owner gave us a warm welcome."

The cottages were beautifully clean and comfortable and we were impressed by the new spacious kitchen. Small maintenance problems arising during our stay were dealt with immediately. I would recommend the property for a large family gathering with ages ranging from 0 to pensioners, including four under fives. There were several places to visit within easy reach for young families, great walking and running routes from the house with superb views, plus the Malverns and Hereford not too far away. We all enjoyed a lovely week at Durstone.

  • "Great house and location for a big family get togther Review Our extended family and friends, aged 8 to 80 really enjoyed our weekend in Durstone cottage."

It's a lovely, quiet, remote setting, but with village and bigger towns nearby. We filled the house, everyone got a bed, some with en-suite. The 2 living rooms & kitchens were really handy for such a large group. The wood burning fires were lovely, and Sarah the host was great at providing additional wood. The dining room annex fitted us all in, but a bit of a squeeze to move around. The games was great, if a little chilly, much appreciated by the teenagers (and those who wished they were!). It's a great, comfortable place where you can relax without worrying about the host "inspecting with a fine tooth comb"! We even got a thank you from Sarah for how clean we left it.

  • "The property is beautiful from the outside in terms of the building and the countryside and the owner seemed nice."

However we were 20 plus people and found it hard to be together as there were 2 separate houses so the living rooms could only accommodate 10 people each. The dining room was big enough for everyone but too narrow to move around in. Anyone could not get out if others were sitting on the benches. The 2 small kitchens were such that anyone passing by would be an obstruction for the kitchen users due to the smallness of the kitchens. We had to distribute items over 2 fridges and kitchens. Extra items had to be placed in the freezer in the games room outside which has items in it already. The saucepans were difficult to cook in due to their thinness and burning our food. The grill gave off such a bad smell that couldn't be used. General cleanliness was low. There were cobwebs and the handwashes were diluted with water. The toilet seat in one bathroom was loose and a shared ensuite bathroom had no lock in it. In one side, 8 people shared one bathroom. The games room is in a bad condition with 2 less balls in the Poole table and the cue ends were not fully in tact. The table tennis bats had the material torn off and the table looked battered though could be used. The kids enjoyed the swing hanging off the trees though. The grounds were too narrow for football games or Frisbee without the items going into the bushes, but ok to sit out in.

Thank you for your feedback and comments, it is extremely valuable for us to make sure we are maintaining the high standards we pride ourselves on. We appreciate your thoughts on the size of the kitchen, dining room and living rooms, however, this has not been an issue for any of our prior guests over the past couple of years and do apologise you felt this way. Again, we would like to apologise that you thought the kitchens were too small, we have made sure to show the full scale of the kitchen in the photographs advertised and given the size of the property we feel this is more than enough space for daily use. We pride ourselves on being very clean with having a team of 5 cleaners at the property we have never had a cleanliness comment before that has not been a positive one. We thoroughly check the property to make sure that guests are entering a clean and safe home each and every time. We take these points on board and will look to make sure that the toilet seats are all tightened down and look to add a lock to the shared ensuite. I have been to the property to make sure that the equipment in the gaming room is up to standard and can tell all balls are present for the pool table and can only think that some may have gotten stuck on the runners while you were there. We do also provide several new paddles however, we like to keep more of worse condition paddles just as extra for larger games. We would like to thank you for your time in staying with us and leaving constructive feedback for us to improve on. We do hope you had a lovely stay and hope to see you again soon. We do hope these issues did not ruin your stay and hope that all was well after we added 2 accessibility ramps for you. We do hope this made the stay at the Durstone Cottage easier for everyone who attended. Property Owner

Loved the cottages, comfortable and quaint but very well equipt, really is in the middle of just countryside which was great for us the children could play out safely. The track up is very rough as is reallly just a farm track so maybe would struggle if you had a car with a low undercarrage, our cars all managed it ok. Would deffinitely recomened for large family holiday venue.

Guest ages ranged from 4 to 69 , comprising of youngsters, teenagers and adults. Two kitchens enabled breakfast to be served to everyone at the same time. Two lounges meant the "oldies" could have some time away from the youngsters in comfort.. The games room was well equipped and a big hit. The cottage contained everything you could possibly want, from the fresh bed linen and towels to plenty of comfortable seating. The cottage was as warm as toast which was very appreciated at this time of year.
