  • "What a fantastic place to stay."

    We absolutely loved the barn it was just so relaxing and we had everything we needed to enjoy our week's holiday. Loved the bed it was so comfortable and with luxury linen it was perfect. We had snow so lighting the log burner was a wonderful end to each day and it was an ideal place to watch the night skies as outside was very dark. Would highly recommend if you are visiting the Cotswolds. We will be returning soon.

  • "I had a pleasant stay at the Barn which is very comfortable and well equipped and with luxury quality bed linen and towels, as well as the provision of luxury toiletries."

    It is very well situated to visit the beautiful villages and countryside of the Cotswolds. There is noise from the road which is very close but it didn’t bother me too much. The verandah was a very pleasant area to sit enjoying the sunshine and garden, it would have been nice to have outdoor cushions to make the seating more comfortable. The short walk across the fields to Burford was delightful. A sign at the end of the drive might be a good idea as I drove past when I first arrived.

  • "We spent 2 nights at The Barn (Friday & Saturday)."

    It was very comfortable and cosy for a nice quiet weekend getaway, and a great place to explore the Cotswolds from. The Barn itself was perfect for 2 people; it felt luxurious and everything was of a high quality. We briefly met the owner who was super friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

  • "A great place to stay with everything you need."

    The accommodation was spot on and there was nothing that hadn’t been thought of. We noticed that Lynne and Gareth haven’t spared on the quality of the facilities in the barn and we loved that they were using products found locally.   • "The Barn was lovely, small and romantic everything we needed was there."

    The owners were helpful and kind, providing anything we required like BBQ and fuel, also recommending activities for our stay. Log Burner was amazing, for a May in England it has been very cold a wet compared to previous years so that’s helped. The stay was lovely I have no complaints. Would really recommend staying here if you’re a couple looking for a romantic getaway and want to see the English National Landscape that is the Cotswolds.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you and the cottage was so well equipped."

    Only improvements on the note of cleanliness would be that the kitchen/ sink area could do with a thorough clean. There appears to be a black residue of dusting over the fire blanket, on top of the pictures and falling onto kitchen towel and utensils. Cobwebs under the shelving housing the kitchen jugs etc. We didn’t expect the traffic noise from the busy road but again this was a minor irritant. Burford is a stunning location and your gardens and grounds so beautiful so would definitely recommend to our friends and family.

    The bed and settee are particularly comfortable. Loved the log burner. Very helpful owner, we forgot our Cotswolds guide book and Arthur provided us with an assortment. The barn is in a great location for all the Cotswolds sights.

  • "I had the most relaxing stay."

    The barn offered the total holiday feel. The layout was very well designed, even down to the roof windows for privacy. The wood burner was so efficient with march still being a little on the chill side this soon warmed the room. The host was very welcoming , showing and explaining about the area and things of interest. I would of missed out on the wildlife park had it not been for his input..I thankyou. A lovely couples retreat which I will recommend highly and will most definitely visit again. Thankyou

The property

The Barn at Westhall Cottage is a picturesque, detached, wooden building resting in the hamlet of Fulbrook, just a short walk by footpath from Burford with off-road parking, pretty gardens, and homely accommodation for two, it is the ideal base for a couple looking for a getaway to the Cotswolds.

Park up outside this delightful abode and make your way inside, discovering a fitted kitchen with a selection of amenities including cooking and washing facilities, and the ground floor also houses a contemporary shower room.

The extensive relaxed, nature-friendly garden boasts a wide range of roses, clematis and fruit trees.

The garden follows regenerative principles to maximise the capture of carbon in the soils and vegetation.

The barn has a large south facing verandah to dine alfresco, ideal for enjoying breakfast in the sunshine.

About the location

Burford

Burford is possibly one of, if not THE most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located mid way between Oxford and Cheltenham (25 mins each away) it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit.

The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits!

With little changing over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all with 25 minutes from the property.
