  • "Blackthorn."

    Clean and utterly charming. The experience is something like a motor home, but more beautifully appointed. Apart from maybe springing for some thicker pillows and mattress, I could not fault this accommodation. But also you don't book this type of accommodation at this price expecting too much in the way of bed comfort. For couples or couples with a small child (ours is 5) it is big enough. For those with a tween or teen I might think twice. The support from the owner on local matters we needed advice on was exemplary, and the situation (a quiet and beautiful field in the country) was gorgeous. We were able to drive to the Pear Tree Park and Ride in 15 minutes and from there another 15 minutes to Oxford with prompt and easy buses. Will remember this place very fondly -- thanks Rachael.

  • "A dream getaway in the Cotswolds."

    Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful, tranquil setting. Our time there was so relaxing and connecting with to nature, my children adored exploring the land. Hosts were fabulous throughout. We will definitely return next year with friends.

  • "This stay at Blackthorn went above and beyond what I needed - some time and space for myself to write."

    In the comfort and peace of this hut in this location, I was able to write nearly 10,000 words, unheard of in my everyday busy life at home! The hut was perfect, the bed extremely comfortable with high-quality linens and duvet/pillows. Kitchen very well-supplied with everything I needed (and more). The bathroom was great too, shower a little on the less-powerful side, but I expected that seeing as I was in a small hut and not a house. The internet service was reliable. I used the swimming pond, which was blissful and such a good size - cold to get into, but very easy to stay a long time once you're in. The location is peaceful and very green. (It's on a flightpath, which didn't bother me, I enjoyed seeing the planes going over every now and then.) I went on a nice walk on footpaths leading out of the estate and back through the village where I stopped at the pub for a drink on the way. Just wonderful. I will 100% come back here for some peace and some time to myself.

  • "What a fantastic weekend away!"

  • "From the moment we arrived we were wowed with how fanatic this Shepard’s hut was, attention to detail was brilliant from the build quality and way the owner furnished it as well."

    The addition of the little fire made the hut feel very homely in a wintry outside environment. Despite it being windy and raining outside the hut was quiet and felt solid. We visited the local pub the masons arms and what a little gem that was the staff were fantastic specially Rory he engaged with us and our son and made us feel like friends/ locals. The owner provided plenty of details and recommendations for what we wanted from our holiday. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back to visit soon.
