Sykes are a nightmare to book with and we have had problems historically, including with this visit.

Thankfully, Sandra (property owner) works with common sense and reasonability, so we contacted her directly. She was able to save our stay for us, by being flexible with the dates and refunding the difference. As for the cottage, it was immaculate. Decorated with class and style and maintained to a high standard. My only "improvements" would be to leave a spray for the kitchen sides and the beds weren't the comfiest. Overall, we loved this cottage and are very grateful to Sandra! Would recommend staying here and will likely return for longer, next year. Thanks.

The kitchen is large and has quality, modern appliances. The beds are comfortable with quality bedding. The heating system is efficient. The property is first class, highly recommend.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Woody bank, the cottage was very clean and tidy, it had everything we needed for a two week stay and provided us with a warm, comfortable base for us to explore Yorkshire and the North Pennines.

The cottage is situated the lovely village of Middleton in Teesdale which had a co-op, pharmacy, pub, butchers etc. We would also highly recommend anyone staying to visit the nearby town of Barnard castle in particular the market which is held on a Wednesday and Saturday and Eggelstone abbey. We will definitely be looking to stay again in the future.
