  • "This flat has the best view in Lyme Regis and that’s why we have booked again for next year and we have stayed here twice before."

A brilliant location in a wonderful town. However, what has disappointed and surprised us yet again this visit is that the owners seem not to listen to or care about customer feedback. in fact their tone, if you read other comments further down this thread, is rather dismissive. People have been complaining about the sofa for years and they are right. It is dirty and uncomfortable. We and many other people for many years have been complaining that there is not a single coat hook in the property. You therefore end up hanging your belongings on backs of chairs, over picture frames or you have to have them lying on the floor in the hallway. I have sent private feedback to them about this three times but they simply do not care. it’s genuinely perplexing.

  • "Our 5th year staying so obviously we like it!"

The apartment is great and being left a bottle of wine and some coffee pods is very welcoming. Could improve: Fitted sheets were too small for double, kept coming off. No hoover. With the sand from the beach a hoover would make life much easier. We’ve even thought about buying our own for the flat!

Hello Firstly thank you so much for coming for your fifth year. Also thank you for your comments and I apologise the fitted sheets were too small. I shall advise Lyme Bay Holiday and ask them to ensure that in the future they use the correct size. We will look into getting a hoover that guests could use. We hope to welcome you again soon. • "After staying along Marine Parade for a number of years in different apartments, we were excited for our stay."

Admittedly, I was slightly disappointed in some of the facilities and comfort elements available. The bedrooms and bathroom were relatively spacious. However, we did find the main bed extremely uncomfortable (way too firm).. resulting in a few aches and poor sleep throughout the course of the week. The fact that the blinds are extremely thin (almost paper like) and are unaccompanied by curtains, the rooms are extremely bright from the early morning. Both my husband and my daughter struggled managing to sleep past 5.30am due to being unable to block out any light. This hugely impaired the week. The living area was well equipped with DVDs and games, however, the sofa was really unwelcoming and extremely uncomfortable. The cushions do not support anything, and it felt extremely worn. This resulted in a bit of a fight for the lone bucket chair of an evening when we resided back to the apartment. The rug in the living room was also disgustingly dirty, and rolling up at the corners causing a trip hazard. With the cost of the apartment, we really would have anticipated better. The kitchen would benefit with a cupboard specifically for storage of food items. As we stayed for 7 nights, items like tea, coffee, cereal, snacks, juice were essential.. however, there was absolutely no where to store these. Many things were left in bags on floors, which isn’t really the experience we were hoping for. A main concern was when we came to dispose of garbage on the upper floor. My husband went to find where the disposal was, and the door on the top floor slammed shut, locking him out on the roof terrace with no method of contacting. His phone was still in the apartment. He was locked on the roof for nearly 40 minutes and he had to climb over a fence and through a hedge to get back resulting in dirty clothes and a cut head! He had the apartment keys however none would open the top terrace door. The apartment didn’t feel particularly clean.. personally finding used hair bobbles, bracelets, clips from what I can assume was past residents. There was also no tools to clean it personally. Having an apartment opposite the beach almost guarantees sand / dirt, however no brush or hoover was available to keep on top of the mess. More than once throughout the week, I attempted to clean the floor with a dustpan, however, this wasn’t a practical option. Overall… the beautiful views of Lyme Regis guaranteed my family a nice week.. however, admittedly, most places, if not all that we have stayed in prior were better equipped than this one sadly.

Hello Thank you for your feedback. We have always found the blinds keep out the light very well. Most people find there is plenty of space in the cupboards and refrigerator but thank you for your comment. So sorry to hear your husband locked himself out of the building when he put out the garbage. The apartments are always well cleaned between bookings by Lyme Bay Holidays but I shall pass your comment on to them. The apartment remains one of the best equipped in the area and has the added advantage of a great welcome pack, macs and cool bag. And the most amazing view! Sorry to hear you were disappointed. • "Great holiday as always staying in Lobster, where the views and noise of the sea are incredible."

Just love it - however - together with many other holiday makers, we think it is time for the sofa and chair in Lobster to be replaced. So uncomfortable and grubby, it spoils the appartment. Also new towels would be good. Additionally, the welcome pack for the past 3 years has substantially diminished from previous years, but we can live with that!.

  • "The property was well appointed with everything we needed."

We were 2 friends staying and it was ideal but I think 4 would struggle. The noise from the cafe below and constant dragging of furniture was annoying and the seagulls woke us up before 4am every day. We’ve stayed in many properties in Marine Parade but this was by far the noisiest. Cracking view tho!

Thank you for your email. There are two bedrooms so plenty of room for four people but two would need to share a bed. I am surprised to hear about noise from the restaurant below having never experienced that in the past. Apologies for the seagulls making a noise I expect they were just pleased to see you. You are right, the view is amazing. Property Owner

  • "We had a nice stay in Lobster - it was very clean and the bedrooms were immaculate with comfy beds and good/clean/new bedlinen."

However, as numerous guests have been stating for the last FIVE years (please see the guest book in the property) the sofa is dreadful - old/shabby and worn out. Please do consider replacing this, as five years' of complaint with no action suggests that the reviews are not in fact being noted. We also had an issue with the heating and hot water - there was none at all on the first night. The manual in the apartment says to note the boiler instructions in the airing cupboard but there are no instructions. We logged a complaint with the out of hours services but this was not acted on - apparently there is a recurring issue with this service. The next morning, still with no heating or hot water, we had to Google the workings of the boiler and only then were able to work out what needed to be done to get it to work. This is not what we expect on a holiday - to have to research online how the boiler should work!

Unbeatable location and very nicely presented- loved the selection of books and games. Kitchen and bedrooms very well presented. A couple of points to consider: 1. The sofa really isn't comfortable and hard to relax on, an upgrade would be a great idea 2. Hooks in the hallway and on the back of bedroom doors to hang up coats and dressing gowns should be provided 3. The towels are too small and not v luxurious

  • "My friend and I very much enjoyed our 4 days spent in the Lobster apartment."

The views were spectacular, a pair of binoculars would have been an added bonus, and the property was furnished and equipped to a high standard. I had noticed in some reviews that the degree of comfort of the sofa had been mentioned, this didn't seem to be a problem although we didn't spend much time in the apartment as the weather was so glorious to sit on it for long! Perhaps a little low and too deep for me but not an issue. I was in the double bedroom and the firmness of the mattress was ideal, I couldn't have slept better. Food storage in the kitchen area was lacking slightly but we could understand how it would have been difficult to squeeze in any more cupboard space. We very much appreciated all the small touches, books, dvd's, hairdryer, iron etc and the discreet notices. Unfortunately, we didn't get round to eating in Tom's restaurant below though the menu looked very interesting, but the owner, (we assumed) was extremely friendly and helpful. Booking through Sykes was easy and they were helpful too as was the person who happened to greet us at Lyme Bay holidays when we picked up the keys. All in all it was a wonderful and much needed short break away after a very difficult time in my life. I would certainly recommend Lobster, and indeed already have to friends upon my return.

Some lovely independent restaurants, bars and shops. Enjoyed Charmouth fossil exhibition and the small village of Beer. Forde Abbey is definitely worth a visit. We enjoyed sitting next to the window in apartment watching people walk by, but we thought that the very large sofa was uncomfortable and not enough storage in the kitchen. I think we will definitely return

Hello We are pleased you enjoyed your visit. We are sorry you did not enjoy the large sofa and that you found it uncomfortable. We not your comment about storage in the kitchen. • "This is my second visit."

The location is perfect. Cleanliness 10/10 - well done housekeeping. Some milk would have been appreciated - thank you for the other welcome pack items. Quality of the towels could be better - a Bath sheet and a flannel would be nice, and a hand towel for the kitchen. Shower needs a shelf/hanger for soaps etc. Bedrooms need coat hooks or over door hangers. However you need to throw away all of the furniture in the living room and start again. The settee and chair are awful. The dining chairs are rickety and the table scratched. The mattresses are very hard but we adjusted to the level of firmness! We could not find the bin store - the keypad on the door would not open and it was not clear if the bins that were outside the other door were for Lobster. I will certainly return for a third visit as the position and views cannot be beaten. Your price was also very competitive. On my previous visit you could lock the staircase door and outer door - not any more, so we did feel that unauthorised people could access the staircase. Perhaps this is for fire regulations ? We look forward to a third visit and hope the settee and chair will be regimes in a skip.

It's great to hear that you enjoy the sea views offered by the apartment. The welcome pack and linen are provided by the owner and we have referred your comments to them. The chair has recently been replaced so should offer better comfort to guests. Following a recent independent grading assessment the property has been awarded a 4tick gold rating for quality. Location superb. Uncomfortable couch and dining set maybe need replacing. A tiny niggle was not having any coat hooks in the hall or a shelf in the shower…(could be soon fixed) Since Sykes Cottages took over we have been disappointed with the lack of little touches ie: the welcome pack..the personal touch with the dealing with staff has gone.

Thank you for your feedback. Most people find the couch and dining set comfortable and we am sorry you did not.. The 'little touches' should be the same as before Sykes Cottages took over as they come from us the owner. You should have found complimentary items including a full range of Duck Island products in the bathroom, a bottle of wine and a bottle of Hildon water in the fridge, a tub of pringles crisps, some Nespresso pods, biscuits and mints, a cool bag plus some macs and umbrellas in case of rain. There are also games, fiction and local area information and guidebooks and a selection of DVDs. Property Owner

Unfortunately, it is in need of some general upkeep, in relation to the wall under the kitchen window, where the paintwork has come off and continues to flake off on the floor. Floors are scratched/scuffed in a few places. Scratched table and worn sofa. Windows really need a good clean to help appreciate the wonderful views. Appreciate being provided with some cups/towels/bags and a working toaster, when we made LBH aware these were missing. TVs in bedrooms only had live tv (unless you potentially had a stick for other tv services eg prime/Disney.) We liked the effort of trying to be eco friendly with the soaps/dishwasher tabs. Bottle of wine in fridge was also lovely.

  • "The accommodation is in a prime position on the seafront at Lyme Regis."

The views are absolutely spectacular and the apartment is within easy reach of all amenities in the town. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the view at the rear of the property which was scruffy and poorly maintained. The bedrooms are tidy and functional; however the living area in the apartment needs some TLC. The settee and the chair were stained, the glass table heavily scratched. Additionally, the kitchen area did not live up to the description on the website The area in the bathroom that housed the washing machine was shabby and unclean and the toilet was badly stained. This made for an overall disappointing stay as standards were not consistent. It would be helpful if all properties had up to date inspections and images shown on line.
