"Fantastic cottage, an ideal location right on St Marychurch high street with all the shops."
We enjoyed pottery opposite at Poppins pottery, they even had our pots ready to take home at the end of the week, would strongly recommend. We enjoyed the wider area including Totnes, Teignmouth, Newton Abbot, Shaldon, Berry Pomeroy and Greenway. Parking was no problem only a short walk to the cottage. We will definitely be back.

"Lovely cottage fantastic location"

"A cosy cottage, immaculately clean, comfortable beds and had everything we needed for an enjoyable holiday."
We had our own car park space at no extra cost but it’s a little walk from there to the cottage ( around 2 minutes) There’s a bit of a low beam by the front door and living room which my husband who is nearly 6ft had no problems with. The jam & scones were a nice touch along with the milk in the fridge ready for us to make a drink after a long drive. Just off of the Main Street where there’s cafes, coop, Sainsbury’s and other shops. Near bygone days museum. Highly would recommend this cottage.

"Lovely house, very clean and cosy."
Very close proximity to shops, cafes, bakeries and pubs lovely little area. If you are on the taller side you may need to duck when entering the house and in the sitting room but the low beams make the house even more cosy. Internet connection is amazing if this is important to you. Did have an issue locking the front door at first as sometimes it didn't lock properly, but just need to double check door when leaving.

"Lovely property, perfect place for getting around."
St Mary church village a great place to stay. We will hopefully stay here again

"A lovely little property."
Very cosy and warm. Right in centre of precinct but very quiet as through a small alleyway. Good to be central to amenities and a very short walk to Babbacombe Downs and beach. We hope to return another time. Thank you Keith for pointing out the free parking space for the cottage.

"We didn’t want to leave, even after three weeks."
This quirky little cottage is super comfortable, in a great location. It’s down a short laneway which means it’s away from street noise, but at the same time no more than 20 metres from St Marychurch shops with excellent butcher, fresh fish shop, bakeries, cafes and multiple small supermarkets all within a few hundred metres. It doesn’t have any views and is relatively overlooked but it’s also in an excellent location for walks in the area and to access the local buses. It’s an easy walk to cliffs, beaches and Torquay is a half hour walk or short bus trip. It’s small with some low ceilings but has bags of character, is well designed and maximises space. We were a little concerned to find out the private parking was not connected to the property but in the end it didn’t turn out to be a big problem. Parking is about 50 metres away behind the main street. We only used the king bedroom which was spacious and comfy, but the second twin room looked equally good. Both have their own tv in addition to downstairs. The large bathroom had both bath and shower and with hot water from the combi-boiler, far superior to an electric shower in the cold weather. The kitchen had everything expected and the lounge was super comfortable. The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the soft lighting in the lounge which was great for relaxing or watching tv but not very good for reading for example. We enjoyed a great relaxing stay here and extended our original booking. Highly recommended.

"Hocking cottage was lovely and just as we hoped."
There are some great local shops in the high street, and an excellent cafe just a couple of doors away. Nearby are great places to visit and oustanding coastal walks. My only requests would be to have some information included in the property pack about the arrangements for refuse bins/recycling, and what to do with bed linen etc on leaving. Also some detailed information on the location of the allocated parking space would be useful. But thank you to the owner for helping me with these when I phoned for advice.
Thanks Tim will look to put the extra information in the cottages for our guests thanks again for your stay in hocking cottage and our lovely location kind regards keith Property Owner

"A beautifully restored and maintained cottage, with the addition of a parking space nearby."
The property is clean, tidy and comfortable with quality furniture and fittings. The beds were comfortable, and the bedrooms surprisingly large and bright in comparison to the lounge and kitchen, which are typical of a cottage of this age. There is no outside space or garden at Hocking cottage, but the precinct is only seconds from the front door. This holiday home is in a superb location, seconds away from the quaint pedestrianised precinct in St Marychurch. Here you have everything on your doorstep, grocer, baker, fishmongers, butcher, general stores and a myriad of cafes, pubs, and quirky little independent stores. A town full of character and friendliness. Babbacombe downs and railway, Bygones, and the Model Village are a short walk away. You could easily manage a week here without using the car. It would be great if, in future, the owners considered the addition of a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. The parking space is tight, and could be tricky for some as you are parking between metal posts with little room for error. We parked our Citroen Berlingo ok. It would be helpful if the very long grass and weeds were strimmed in and around the parking space, as it didn’t look very inviting when we arrived. You do have to carry your luggage and bags some way from the parking to the cottage which some may find difficult going back and forth. We really enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in recommending Hocking Cottage. We will definitely be returning as we loved the location. It should be noted that Bridges Cottage (accommodating 2) is next door, and belongs to the same owner. Booking both cottages would be perfect for a larger family break, or holiday with grandparents.

"Great little place, spotlessly clean, comfortable and quiet."
Nicely situated just off a pedestrianised small shopping precinct with lots of independent shops and cafes. Only thing to beware of is the parking is tight, we managed with our 5 seater but anything larger might struggle.
-
"Very nice cottage, everything you need for a comfortable stay."
Conveniently situated for shops and local attractions. Stones throw from the beautiful views from Babacombe downs. And the scones a nice touch too!

"The cottage was very well maintained and had everything you could possibly want."
The weather wasn’t good while we were there so we did have to have the heating on on occasion but the cottage warmed up very quickly. The shower and bathroom were clean and the pressure on the shower good. The only negative comment I would give was the designated parking. If you have a small car then this would probably not concern you too much. However the people staying in the other cottage found parking difficult as they had a four by four and I definitely did as I had a seven seater. There are two steel posts to navigate and the space is extremely tight especially at night. If somehow these could be adjusted all along to give more space this problem would be fixed but I am not sure if this can be done as I don’t know whose land the parking is on. The owner Keith was very kind and offered lots of information regarding the local facilities, good places to eat and also left scones, jam and cream. We were delighted. In addition there were two large Galaxy Easter eggs for my grandchildren who thought that was amazing as did I. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Very nice area, locals friendly, we felt safe, lots of different bars, restaurants and beaches to visit especially when the weather improves. Thank you Keith.

"What a delightful cottage, ideally located in St Marychurch, close to all the amenities and the downs."
The cottage was clean and had everything we needed, beds were very comfortable as well, the owner Keith was on hand on arrival and could not do enough for us, we will definitely be visiting again next year.

"Hocking cottage is a beautiful place to stay."
Not only is it everything it says it is, Keith has made it homely with the extra touches, we were delighted with the cream tea on arrival. Although quaint and cosy downstairs the upstairs is surprisingly large. All the rooms are decorately nicely and it was spotlessly clean. The location is perfect in a nice little precinct, the bakery and cafes are well worth a visit and the sweet shop was a big hit! As a family of 4 with children aged 13 and 11 it suited us and I would absolutely recommend the cottage. We would stay again in the future.
