"This is such a great house for a big group (we were eight) as there is so much space."
We weren’t really there long enough to make use of everything, particularly all the board games and the library of books! I found the induction hob a little fiddly although most of the others managed without too much trouble. Personally, I also found the duvet in my room (single beds) too warm in September. But these are minor quibbles and everyone had a really enjoyable long weekend, helped by the local facilities all within walking distance.

"The property was situated in a lovely area."
We found the house to be very clean and had a great deal to occupy the children in our party, with table tennis, table football and other activities available. The large living areas provided opportunity for our group of ten to enjoy various activities, both communally and separately.
-
"Great house quiet and peaceful, not far to walk to town , river and park"
-
"We had a lovely holiday, it was great that we were able to bring the full family together thanks to your large house."
-
"We had a fabulous stay in this amazing home."
Everything we could have wanted for a comfortable stay was included. The home is absolutely beautiful with stunning views over the village and countryside. Would definitely recommend and would absolutely love to stay in the future.

"We had a wonderful time at The Mount!"
Very comfortable, lots of room, a wonderful selection of kitchen equipment, books and games for both adults and children and very close to Dulverton. A great holiday!
-
"A lovely house, the setting takes some beating with glorious views."
The kitchen is extremely well equipped with every we needed and more. The front door needs a little TLC as the Yale lock has come loose . There are some great walks from the house out to several iron age forts which we enjoyed. Would definitely love to stay here again sometime.
-
"It's an interesting house, beautifully restored and in a lovely location."
There's plenty of space inside. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped and there are masses of toys, books, games and DVDs.
-
"This property is fantastic and was excellently equipped to cater for every eventuality."
The basement was a big hit with us and was a lovely space to relax in. The location was fantastic and Dulverton itself is a beautiful little village. The owner Helen, was responsive and very helpful. We will definitely be returning
-
"We have had a fantastic few days at the Mount to celebrate my sisters 70th birthday."
It is a very special property. Its location is second to none, the most amazing views! And a two minute walk into the beautiful village on Dulverton. With its lovely eateries and Thia takeaway
-
"Our favourite property in the South West for our family of 10 to stay at, ages ranging from 8 to 75+."
The Mount is a beautiful and tranquil place, but has entertainment and comfort for everyone. The location is wonderful, great views up and down the valley and an easy walk into the village (although pretty steep on the walk back!). We all look forward to staying here again in the future.
-

"Beautiful house."
Really well equipped. Lovely owners.
-
"Beautiful house with lovely views."
Comfortable and spacious. Helen was really helpful with local information and suggestions of where to go.
-
"The Mount has been the best holiday property we have ever used over the years, with so much space to spread out a group of ten adults and children."
The facilities were superb and the house ever so comfortable and what a view over Dulverton and the river Barle valley! We definitely hope to be back in the future.
-
"A wonderful village with all you could ask for and more."
The house was huge and the beds were all very comfortable. We enjoyed some great walks in the doorstep and took a drive to the beach one day. The local water sports (15min drive) we’re amazing - such friendly staff. The kids loved the table tennis, and we all loved sitting out front enjoying the views. We saw an array of wildlife including a fleeting glimpse of a red deer in the top garden. The open outlook was perfect for some stargazing, taking advantage of the dark skies area. Highly recommended.

"Beautiful house, very nicely decorated and equipped."
Beds were all very comfortable, only slight problem was the lack of a functioning sun umbrella, and as the week we stayed was a particularly hot week, it was purely by luck that one of our party was coming a day later, so was asked to bring sun umbrellas from home, which we really needed. Otherwise we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend The Mount…..stunning views.
-
"The Mount is the best large group property we have stayed in."
It is a beautiful house with lovely grounds in a stunning location and every little detail has been carefully thought through. We wanted for nothing! Will definitely stay here again.
-
"We had the most amazing long weekend at The Mount at the end of April for an early celebration of Mum’s 80th birthday."
The age range of our group of nine was from 5 to 91 and the house perfectly suited all our needs. It is beautifully appointed with everything you could possibly want, and more board games and books than I have ever seen outside of Waterstones! It is a magical place, a house in which you can’t help but make happy memories. None of us wanted to leave (there were tears!) and all of us want to return. Thank-you for creating such a special place x

"The owners of the mount have done a fantastic job a creating a wonderful holiday let."
The pictures don’t do it justice for how spacious it is for a property that sleeps 10. The amount there is to do just staying around the house in terms of games and puzzles almost makes it a shame to go out. The house is immaculate and the information provided to help settle in is informative. I’d fully recommend The Mount and wouldn’t hesitate staying there again if visiting the area.
-
"This is a really excellent house, well equipped and exceptionally comfortable, with some commanding views across to Dulverton."
The walking around the house is lovely - up and down the river - and across Exmoor. There are excellent local shops.
-
"Wonderful house with fantastic views in a great location."
A huge amount of room, well equipped, with very comfortable beds.
-
"The whole weekend was a success in every way, we all loved the house and wished we could have had a longer stay."
-
"Wonderful house in a beautiful village."
Beautiful walks right from the house and just down the hill to great shops and pubs. Very steep hill up to the house but plenty parking in the village if you couldn’t walk it!
-
"What a fabulous house."
The owners have thought of everything, from entertaining children to occupying the adults should the weather be bad. We were lucky the weather was fab the whole week.
-
"A fabulous big, old property that has been tastefully restored with everything you need and lovely views over the village."
Game tables plus board games are great for rainy days. Dulverton is a friendly, thriving village with shops & pubs all an easy walk down the hill & a good workout walking back up. You don’t need to go anywhere else as the shops cater for all you need & there are walks starting from near the house. But there is also lots of lovely places nearby to visit too.
-
"Lovely clean warm house."
Spacious and comfortable.
-
"The Mount had a lovely atmosphere it was very well renovated and equipped."
We particularly appreciated the welcome gifts. The location is excellent for exploring both locally and further afield. Dulverton was areal delight providing for all our requirements and the people could not have been more friendly.
-
"An excellent house that was well prepared in readiness for us - clean, tidy and well equipped."
Lovely location.
-
"Beautiful house with a stunning outlook."
Spent a lovely few days here and it was everything we could have hoped for. The owners even provided a room full of games to make sure our evenings were anything but quiet ! Would definitely come back.
-
"Simple: the house and the location."
-
"Apart from it being a very rainy week when we stayed at the Mount, we all thoroughly enjoyed staying there."
There were the games rooms in the basement, and huge amounts of toys, books and puzzles to keep all ages occupied whilst in the house. The views over Dulverton were wonderful and it only took a few minutes drive to get to the moors and experience the great scenery. There were nine of us staying in the house and it was large enough to get lost in, or have a quiet moment in one of the many rooms, certainly no feelings of overcrowding! Everything within the house had been very well thought out by the owners to make it comfortable.
-
"We returned to the Mount for the second year and had another super week."
-
"For half our week here, we had our family, then some friends came when family left."
We ALL absolutely loved the house, the views, and loved Dulverton. Gorgeous village with lovely friendly people everywhere we went. It was the best holiday ever, who would want to go abroad when we have this in our country. The house is just stunning, thank you.
-
"We were a mixed party of three generations."
All our day to day needs were amply catered for in this house. Some days we just stayed at "home" because it was so nice. The view from the front of the house overlooking Dulverton and the surrounding hills is beautiful. We were very lucky with the weather so every morning the front door was thrown open and we breakfasted on the front patio taking in the scenery. The Anchor at nearby Exebridge deserves a mention. Situated right by the river it allows the children to play in the water while the adults relax and the food is good too.
-
"The house is set on a hillside, with an amazing view of Dulverton and the surrounding hillsides."
It was much larger than I thought - a truly comfortable and well renovated house that accommodated two families wonderfully. Thank you for the care and attention to details, we had a perfect holiday.
-
"What a brilliant property!"
Such a good spot, so lovingly restored, and with lots of extra, thoughtful touches. The owner was very helpful with information in advance. We don't often go back to a place, as there are so many great places to explore, but we'd definitely come back here.
-
"Just a couple of suggestions."
We were 10 adults, which the house caters for, but 2 of the single beds were definitely for children, with towels to match. These beds weren’t comfortable for adults and need to be upgraded. The towels should also be adult size, when catering for adults only. Otherwise the house is beautiful and so tastefully renovated with a glorious setting...even with the weather we had! Stunning!
-
"Efficiency and honesty of Sykes on telephone."
House arrangements very clear. Wonderful house and good value.
-
"The house and facilities were lovely, the only thing that we would say is that the location on a very steep hill was a challenge and it is not an easy walk into the town for anyone who has limited mobility."
-
"Fantastic house with a wonderful view across valley, all had a great weekend, thanks."
-
"The Mount is a beautiful house in a wonderful setting on Exmore."
The house is generously equipped with high quality furnishings, equipment and kitchen needs We had 4 children ranging in age from 5 to 10 years and the play room provided them with endless fun and things to do. We felt the owners had thought of everything to make the house comfortable and a delight to spend our holiday in. We strongly recommend it and send thanks.
-
"Beautiful house in excellent village location."
Very spacious for large groups. Just need to take care with young children due to drops in small garden
-
"The house was perfect for our group of six adults with plenty of room to relax away from the group while reading a book from the extensive library or sitting in the garden, as well as great community areas for getting together."
The view across the village is beautiful. We had a couple of great evenings around the fire pit cooking sausages and marshmallows. Nearby Dulverton is a beautifully quaint village with friendly people in the local shops. The local restaurants are good and worth a visit on the nights you don’t want to cook. A small warning, the walk up to the house is pretty steep so if you’re used to flat ground it’s a shock to the system but you do get used to it after the first couple of goes. The basement rooms were great for video gaming and the sound doesn’t bleed through too much to the ground floor rooms and not at all to the upstairs rooms (if you have night owls in your group) . Minehead has great beaches, it will take at least 30mins to get there contrary to the sat navs opinion of 20mins this is because cars drive generally slower on the bendy roads (they actually should on these, so just relax and enjoy the views). All in all we had a perfect week and would recommend this house to anyone.
-
"The Mount is in a spectacular situation and the walk down to Dulverton was no problem for us OAP's."
The return journey up the hill was a little more difficult but we all managed! There are plenty nearby good walks/strolls from the house. Dulverton is also very convenient with the Bridge Inn so near! We would certainly recommend this holiday home to larger groups of friends or families ( there were 8 of us ). A wonderful area.
-
"Lovely house, the owner was fantastic."
Would definitely stay there again.
-
"Lovely spacious house, very well equipped, everything you need in kitchen, loads if toys for all ages, games, books and dvds."
Great views. Kids had a lovely time jusy playing in the house as weather was very rainy. There is garden (but steep drops so need to watch young kids playing) and a play park a few mins walk from house too. It was no problem for us but as it says in the description be aware that there is a very steep road to house. House recently renovated so nice modern kichen and bathrooms. Some furniture is a bit tired but is in keeping with house style and did not affect our enjoyment of the house and holiday. Owners very lovely and helpful.

About the location
DULVERTON
Minehead 17 miles.
Dulverton is the southern gateway to the Exmoor National Park, a small town standing between the rivers Barle and Exe, which meet further down the valley. Dulverton has some quaint narrow streets weaving between fine Victorian buildings and a three arched bridge crossing the river leading to riverside walks. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs in Dulverton and in the square is the Exmoor National Park visitor centre and art gallery, offering plenty of inspiration for exploring the vast expanse of the moor on foot, on horseback or from behind the wheel. Why not try an off road safari around Exmoor to see red deer, wild ponies and rare birds? Exmoor has been designated as a Dark Sky Reserve, where the light pollution is low and plenty of stargazing can be done. Near to Dulverton is the majestic lake at Wimblewall Country Park, the first Dark Skies Discovery Centre on Exmoor. Wimblewall is also a premier trout fishing location, and provides tuition in numerous water sports, including sailing, windsurfing and canoeing. Further afield the North Somerset coastline has sandy beaches at Minehead, picturesque harbours and plenty of wild walking around Porlock Weir. A fabulous holiday destination for all those enjoying outdoor activities, dramatic landscapes and wildlife.
Note: Spring water. Arrival after 4pm. This property has a refundable Good Housekeeping bond of £250
