"We had a great week in Cornwall."
The weather was perfect all week and our accommodation at Glanmor was excellent. A very good size apartment with all facilities on tap for our enjoyment. Well recommended.
-
"Glanmor is in a great position for walking in the Fowey area."
The two ferries are convenient but you need to leave Fowey quite early in the evening to return (at least in September). The cottage is very pleasant and tastefully decorated. The bed is small for two people but otherwise comfortable. The property needs a little attention at the end of the season e.g. the bathroom door handle looks as though it may come off, there was no sign of a backdoor key. We had a very pleasant stay there.

"Lovely little apartment, really spacious, very clean, great location!"
-
"We were delighted with the property but access to unload was impossible with vehicles parked at end of street which meant we had to take all our luggage past the parked vehicles and along the street on several runs."
The corkscrew doesn't work if you take posh wine with corks! Otherwise a lovely spacious, comfortable house.

"We spent a lovely week in Glanmor at the beginning of June."
Lovely cottage, plenty of room, great beds. Situation is great, overlooking the quay. The shops and pubs are just down the road, and if you need to visit more shops and restaurants, the foot ferry to Fowey is only two minutes away. You do have to be mobile and reasonably fit as the car park is a ten minute walk away - and it is all steeply uphill! The local shops, although small are very good (particularly Kitty's Koffiji). If you like walking, we would particularly recommend the circular walk making use of the two ferries (Bodinnick - Fowey and Fowey - Polruan). To sum up - a great place to stay, recommended!

"Loved our stay here and will be back."
Lovely light and spacious apartment. Super convenient for the ferry to Fowey. Great views out of the windows, really peaceful and a lovely relaxing stay. Beds super comfy, great wet room. Well stocked kitchen. Every little thing considered. The things that could be a challenge for some is parking up at the top it’s a steep walk back up every time for the car didn’t bother us but if unfit or unable could be tough. The driving parking unloading could be a problem if not a confident driver, fine for us but could be a nightmare if your not great at reversing and negotiating tight turns. Weekly parking was £30 always had a space. Local cafe pub, bakery and shop in Polruan all great. Jam First bake great cakes! Ferry £3 per person each way to Fowey. Runs really frequently feels like a little adventure every time. Fowey is beautiful with some great restaurants, bars and pubs also lots of lovely shops. I loved this place and will be booking again it’s a gem if you want some peace by the estuary with the choice to dip in and out of busier Fowey. Also we ventured to Looe, Polperro, Mevagissey, Charlestown while staying here for drives out all lovely. Thank you was superb.

"Polruan is a unique and beautiful location with it's picture postcard cottages and steeply sloping and quaint alleys."
The view from our fisherman's cottage over the Fowey estuary was wonderful. Always something to see. I personally enjoyed the exercise and the views walking to the carpark at the top of the hill. Worth it though for such a peaceful and beautiful holiday location. Will come again.

"What an amazing place you have, we loved staying there."
Everything we needed was provided, including your lovely welcome pack. The location was amazing and looking out the window on the harbour was perfect. We also slept amazingly the bed was so comfy, we normally struggle to sleep the first few nights, but we slept like babies! Thank you for an amazing stay!
-
"Only thing would improve the cottage is to put blackout curtains in the main bedroom."
-
"Beautiful property We would definitely stay there again"
-
"This is a lovely apartment /cottage the only item missing is a black out blind in the bedroom as the light comes flooding in at 05."
30 then you can't get back to sleep for the Sea Gulls which we know can't be helped it goes with the location, but other than that spot on.

"Don't change anything it was perfect"
-
"Lovely cottage."
Great location. Clean, bright and just as described.
-
"The holiday was great, the apartment was lovely and spacious and well laid out."
It was very noisy with the boat yard being just 20m from the bed room window. generally the noise was drowned out by the 100 seagulls nesting on the boat yard roof. The rear terrace area would benefit from a good jet wash and tidy up. It seemed they had spent a lot on the finishing's in the apartment but it was let down by sink taps and shower which were rubbish, The hot water in kitchen would just trickle out. Putting this all to one side the accommodation was great. Lovely holiday.

"Been here before really enjoyed our second visit would definitely return"
-
"The apartment is fantastic, clean, spacious, very well equipped, lovely outlook."
You did mention the parking at the top of the hill. Maybe just emphasise the length and very steep incline to walk up to the car. Not easy to with mobility issues Otherwise great break
-
"Great place to stay, really lovely touches when we arrived like milk, tea, fudge, so we didn't have to rush out to the shop."
Apartment was really clean, with nice views of the harbour from the lounge and main bedroom. There is a steep walk up to the car park (which only accepts cash, and doesn't give change) but you can unload/load the car on the road of the apartment which is really helpful. Really lovely place to stay in a relaxed atmosphere.
-
"Lovely location in Polruan, much quieter than Fowey but easily accessible via the passenger ferry that goes back and forth all day."
The accommodation is very spacious and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. The main street in Polruan is very steep and long so I would say only suitable for those who are fairly fit.
-
"There was nothing you could want from Glanmor other than more time there."
Absolutely fab
-
"What a wonderful welcome, goodies left for our arrival and the facilities in the cottage we’re excellent."
Comfortable bed and clean surroundings. Would highly recommend. The harbour is just beautiful and easy to go out and explore from the cottage either by walking or getting the passenger ferry. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
-
"We had a wonderful relaxing week at Glanmor."
The apartment was immaculate, spacious, well designed and well equipped. We enjoyed the views over the estuary and the proximity to the local shops and ferry to Fowey, and fantastic walks along the coast path and upriver. We would definitely stay at Glanmor again.
-
"Glanmor offers complete comfort and facilities in its beautiful shoreline location."
Car parking to unload and load is not really an issue given the parking restrictions and the narrow roads. Glanmor being just a minute away from the local store, a cafe, bakery, two brilliant pubs and the pedestrian ferry to Fowey was ideally situated for us. Everyone in the village helps everybody, local or holidaymaker. A truly wonderful time. Watching the movements on the river and even the work in the shipyard is entertainment too.
-
"Beautiful cottage, tessa was so helpful and friendly, Highly recommended for my friends and family to visit"
-
"Cottage was spacious, clean and very welcoming with thoughtful little extras like milk, teabags and fudge ."
We will be recommending Sykes and the property to our family and friends.
-
"A lovely spacious apartment, comfortable and fully equipped, which enjoys a central position close to the harbour."
It was lovely weather so it was nice to sit out in the courtyard and relax. The housekeeper left milk and a bottle of wine in the fridge and also some Cornish tea and fudge, which was a nice touch. The boatyard just below can be a bit noisy, so don’t expect a lie in! Roads in and out of the village for a few miles are very narrow but if you drive slowly all will be well. Best to park in the square by the bus stop to unload as, if you drive up the lane to the property, you then have to reverse out as there is no turning point. Also, be aware that the car park meters only accept cash, although you can pay by PayPal. Not much in Polruan, except a couple of pubs (NB The Lugger is closed on Mondays and it’s advisable to book early as we missed out!) but there are some good walks. However, it’s easy to take the ferry over to Fowey which is bigger and busier.

"Great location overlooking the river."
Easy access to the passenger ferry and the fabulous walks to the outstanding beaches, woods, etc
-
"The cottage was extremely clean homey and very well equipped."
we loved it that much booked again three days after arriving back home 10 out of 10 THANKS
-
"Everything about the property was excellent, it was comfortable, clean and conveniently located to the waterfront and Fowey."
The welcome gifts were very much appreciated. Thank you. I was quite satisfied with the parking arrangements but the walk to and from the car park was very taxing with an uphill climb up to the car park. I feel this would be quite a problem for older people or those with any limited mobility. I feel there should be some reference to this on the property details on the website. Not withstanding, we had an excellent holiday.
-
"Lovely home and extremely comfortable, everything you would need for a great holiday."
-
"The cottage was ideally situated just off the waterfront in Polruan and made a most enjoyable stay."
The boat yard was not at all intrusive. The facilities and welcome pack were perfect and the housekeeper was also really helpful when I called about the key collection in suggesting where to go for days out. The accommodation could not have been more convenient for Fowey where we went twice. Loads of other places to visit of course and the scenery around this part of the coast is stunning. Parking by the water in Polruan is not possible , and being both rather unfit we found walking up the hill twice a day to the car park rather a challenge, but all part of the fun.
-
"Fantastic holiday home , beautiful view over the harbour."
Very peaceful and relaxing.
-
"Clean, fresh, well equipped apartment that provided the perfect base for our holiday."
Polruan is a charming village and the glorious harbour views every morning meant you couldn't fail to have a great day. The welcome pack and the friendliness of the village all added to a memorable holiday.
-
"The cottage was beautiful."
The only disappointment was the hill that you had to climb to get to the car park. The welcome package was excellent. The cottage was comfortable, clean and well equipped.
-
"If all Sykes cottages are like this then the standard is superb."
This place in Polruan has everything you may want. Anyone staying here should be aware of the long steep walk to the car park but it is great daily exercise and the views are absolutely stunning.
-
"Glanmore is a lovely cottage; it is beautifully furnished and is very comfortable."
Furthermore the location is fantastic - being a few minutes walk from the quay. There is also lovely terrace at the back. We were given a very warm welcome and a lot of support. We would love to go back
-
"We only put no to rebooking this property because of the steep hill to walk to the car park."
As we are getting older and think it's for fitter people.

About the location
POLRUAN
Polperro 6.5 miles; Looe 10 miles; Lostwithiel 10 miles.
Polruan is a small fishing village situated on a steep hill on the Fowey estuary, made famous by the author Daphne du Maurier. It remains unspoilt and retains the atmosphere of an old boat building community and has a small beach. The Polruan chain tower known as Polruan Blockhouse is one of only five known to exist in England, and is a small structure built beside a river or harbour to house the mechanism for raising and lowering a defensive chain to prevent the passage of ships in times of danger. It and the chain tower on the opposite bank of the River Fowey are the earliest chain towers to have been constructed. The village has a Post Office, local store, gift shop and pubs. A five minute ferry ride will take you to Fowey, with a range of sophisticated shops and restaurants. In August, the Fowey Regatta is a fun-filled week of activities and events, including RNLI displays, a carnival, spectacular firework displays and a display of classic yachts.
