  • "An excellent hire, plenty of space, well designed and well equipped."

Two points; the bi-fold door (kitchen end) is difficult to lock and took considerable fiddling to get it to lock on each occasion, and the smoke alarm in the kitchen is in a very poor position if you want to use the cookers at all (this has been mentioned before). Both of these can be addressed and shouldn't detract from my initial very positive recommendation.

  • "Really enjoyed the house."

Had everything we wanted. Think a small overflow fridge in utility would be worthwhile. Only negative was the smoke alarms. No matter how hard we tried any use of either oven (light cooking) set off the smoke alarms. Never known anything like it. Might not sound much but we have a 22 month old and was terrified whenever it went off. No matter what we tried couldn't prevent it activating.... even went off with an empty oven but when we took a baking tray out. Only complaint we have.

  • "Had a really lovely holiday at 3 The Drive, Hillfield."

The house was immaculately clean, spacious and well equipped with all you could possibly need for an enjoyable holiday. We were lucky to have such good weather and benefitted from taking an earlier break than usual with less crowds in the towns and beaches. Situated about 2 miles from Dartmouth, there's a handy park and ride for those taking a break in the high season. Dartmouth itself is handily placed south of the Dart estuary, close to Salcombe and Bigbury Bay, but with links across the river to the Torbay area. The one suggestion I could make about the house would be the addition of an overspill fridge in the utility room. We were only 7 in a house for 10, but struggled slightly with the amount of shelf space available. It's just a small point and no way spoiled our holiday.

  • "The house was perfect for what we wanted with ample space and well equipped."

We were lucky and had some great weather. This meant that we could get out and about to enjoy the area. There was plenty to do and the use of the Park & Ride in Dartmouth was easy and very good value for money. The good weather also, unfortunately, meant that the house got very hot, especially the bedrooms and we weren't able to turn the heating thermostats down (this is the sole reason for the rating for comfort). Those working on site were extremely helpful and friendly. Late Sunday afternoon one of the smoke alarms started to beep every 20 seconds indicating that the battery was running low. We called to see if there was any chance that someone could sort for us. Within 30 minutes we were told that Graham would be with us within the hour. He arrived 30 mins later and sorted the matter. Thanks to everyone for being so responsive and thanks for the use of your house, it helped a group of friends have a weekend to remember.

  • "We had a lovely stay in the house."

9 of us stayed there over Christmas and we had an amazing time. The house is spacious, beautiful, well equipped and clean. It’s worth noting that logs are not included for the fire but to be honest you do not need it, the house was very warm, so much so we had to open windows as the temperature is controlled by the owners and was too warm for us even after asking them to turn it down. It’s a short drive to Dartmouth but you can’t walk it, there’s no cross country walks, you will need a car for everything as there’s nothing around the house other than the amenities listed. This was fine though and didn’t detract from the holiday. I saw the scuffs on the walls from previous reviews, these are nothing and just where people carry bags down the stairs, not even worth mentioning. The only downside for us is that the small holding at the bottom of the hill must have lots of dogs that are kept outside and you hear these bark through the night and day. It’s a shame because other than that it would be perfect. It wouldn’t stop us from staying here again though. It’s a beautiful house and would definitely recommend

  • "Beautiful accommodation but needs some maintenance on blinds which did not work."

Problems with sinks though were fixed immediately. Needs some painting as well but all in all a lovely stay. Only issue it’s very hard to use the oven as sets the heat/ smoke sensors off immediately even if your just warming plates which is very annoying .

  • "Property was ‘clean’ however it is really in the need of decorating as lots of marks/scuffs on the walls."

The external furniture also is in need of a good jet washing down.

  • "Did not feel the property was clean enough on arrival, floors were dirty, multiple cob webs were visible and outside area was dirty with birds dropping and leaves."

The outside furniture was also needing cleaned which we had to do before using which was not acceptable. The stairwell also needs a paint. Building work in progress which was also disappointing. House had a lot going for it in terms of quality of furnishings and finishing. It was a gorgeous and spacious property but attention to detail let it down for the money.

  • "Just wow. The house was perfect for what we wanted."

Intimate enough so it felt like a cottage but big enough to disappear if you wanted to be quiet for a bit. Can’t wait to come back again.

The house was stunning, the development quiet and the location ideal as near a supermarket and not far from Dartmouth. We would certainly choose to stay here again in the future.

  • "Beautiful, comfortable and extremely well equipped house, with plenty of room for a large party."

Extremely helpful and friendly staff in reception, willing to resolve any problems. Very peaceful surroundings, but quite a long way from anywhere, you definitely need a car. Bed linen was not fresh in two of the bedrooms, and had to be changed. Sofa dirty and carpets in bedrooms needed a clean. Aside from this, we would all return here for another holiday.

  • "We had a fabulous stay."

The only thing that we can really comment on is the poor roads leading to and from the property. It was a struggle in the car and also for some of our party on motorbikes.

  • "This was a fantastic modern large house in a beautiful quiet position."

The only downside was that there was still so work being completed on the other properties and the little playground was still being built. This I’m sure will soon be completed. It is really in the middle of nowhere but this adds to the beauty. The beach and Dartmouth are accessible with a car along very narrow country roads.

  • "Originally booked June 2020 when listing stated it had a pool and play-ground."

In March I recieved an email stateing that as previously stated? these were not available. I complained to Sykes who told me their I.T. dept had checked and the change was stated at the time of booking. When I got to the property I checked with staff and was told that tge work wasn't confirmed until this February. Either Sykes avery much mistaken or they can see into the future. I should not have paid the full price for this holiday. Trust gone! no more bookings!

  • "3 The Drive was an excellent property and everything we could have wished for as a bolt hole for a family celebration, very comfortable, with quality fittings and every eventuality had been thought of."

The down side was the site itself, really nothing in the way of facilities, we had expected beautiful surroundings and being able to walk in the woodland and gardens, that the children would have the play area to use, and the village green for ball games - sadly none of this was possible because of the extensive building work taking place
