"Things people look for in their holiday accommodation include comfortable beds, plenty of hot water for showers and baths, and fast and reliable wifi."
This apartment didn’t offer any of these. As most other reviews have mentioned the apartment does offer an amazing front row seat to views of the sea and Burgh Island and is just steps away from the beach. The kitchen is well appointed with modern appliances and all the “stuff” that’s needed to self cater. But, for us, good views didn’t compensate for the fact that the beds were uncomfortably soft, we were not able to take a hot shower, and the internet was abysmal. The mattress and bedding made sleeping unpleasant. The mattresses and pillows felt very used and the fitted sheets were “piled” and quite uncomfortable to sleep on. No matter what we tried with using the hot water “boost” button, the shower went cold just after a few seconds, as such we had to resort to taking showers in the pool changing room. The internet speed varied from an extremely slow 500 kbps to a very slow 1.3 mbps. As there is little to no cell service for Three or O2 in that area, the slow internet impacted communication with family via WhatsApp or wifi calling. It also made watching shows on Netflix or freeview frustrating by periodically having to wait for the TV catch-up downloading a programme . (I would recommend downloading any shows you want to watch on your laptop before you arrive.) I have read other reviews dating back to early last year that mention the issues with the beds and Internet and, for the money it costs to stay there, I would expect something to have been done about them.

"Apart from the master bedroom lights not working intil the Tuesday and there being no shade on the balcony it was an excellent apartment."
I would suggest that the position of the reserved car park could be described by you as it took the help of the leisure manager to find it.

The property was in an Excellent position and the view was fantastic The lay out was very good and extremely well stocked compared to some places we have stayed Staff and food in the on site cafe/ restaurant were very good The only thing I found was the car park location was a little tight and a bit steep and a little way from the property But please pass on our wishes to the owners the property was excellent and made our holiday complete would love to stay again

"Sun parasol would be useful for the balcony as other apartments have them"

"There didn,t seem to be much loo roll or any tissues and the dusting and cleaning could have been more thorough."
Also the lock was broken on the main door into the building so was open all the time and the door lock on the apartment was a bit flimsy. However it was all about location whch was great. It was handy to have a landline available as the mobile reception was v.patchy as I had to phone the hospital as my partner broke her leg on the beach last Weds and had to be taken to Derriford in Plymouth where she still is after having had an operation. Ambulance ,coast guard and local farmer (ambulance stuck in sand) had to rescue her from way out on the beach. But we will be back to Bigbury soon!! Andy

"The apartment is absolutely perfect for a holiday by the sea."
The views are wonderful over Burgh Island. It is a top floor apartment but is only a few steps down from the car park , making easy access. It’s modern, clean and well equipped. I find it very relaxing to stay there!

"Can't beat the location, amazing, the staff at the little café/bar,leisure,pool were so nice and helpful."

"What a fabulous property!"
So good to have plenty of crockery and cutlery, and enough pots and pans to make a decent meal. Although the restaurant on site is excellent and the staff more than helpful. The pool is clean and a bonus to have for fun with the children. The flat is well presented and very comfortable and it was obvious to us this is a well loved holiday home for its owners with everything you need, from a book to games and binoculars to check out the amazing view. Even the wardrobe had plenty of hangers! Loved our stay and enjoyed a memorable week looking at the iconic view, walking the beautiful beach and relaxing in its magic. Thank you.

"Great position and plenty of space, good amenities."
Unfortunately our stay was spoilt by the very soft squishy beds - personally we found them very uncomfortable. We also found that the settee and armchairs seem to have been well past their best and also very uncomfortable. For these 2 reasons we wouldn’t stay at this apartment again

"Perfect!"

"Excellent apartment."
Superb views. Only a couple of issues------a walk in shower would have been very helpful as my wife is quite short & unable to get into the bath to have a shower without great difficulty. Also a 2nd room key would be beneficial------just in case. Otherwise everything was great.

"Amazing property in a wonderful location with views we couldn’t get enough of."
The apartment was clean with everything available you could think of, a real home from home. The swimming pool 45 minute slots worked well and the leisure club staff were so friendly and accommodating, we had a lovely dinner there on our last night. Overall, a 5 star holiday!

"We have stayed in this apartment probably 6-7 times now and it never disappoints, only suggestion would be to upgrade the docking system to play music, it is not compatible to newer iPhone or iPad…."
. but this did not impact on our stay and will most definitely be going back.

"The apartment is very comfortable and spacious with stunning views."
Underfloor heating makes it perfect for winter visits. Two bathrooms makes it ideal for families. Highly recommend it.

"We have stayed at several of the Burgh Island Causeway apartments - this was the first time at no."
23. Generally speaking, we had a lovely time in our favourite part of the world. Helpful Holidays as usual lived up to their name. The following are hopefully constructive comments about the apartment. * Broadband. This is woefully inadequate... we know from other apartments stays that a perfectly usable broadband service is available. It costs no more than the older services as in place at no.23. * Washer-drier. When in drying mode the unit makes a clunk every 14s that resonates around the apartment, making it unusable whilst we were there. * The fridges both have doors that do not shut properly without a firm shove - including the freezer compartment door. This meant a number of items of food had to be discarded. * There are at least two flickering bulbs around the flat - these need replacing. * There was no hand soap in the property. * The second bathroom has no towel rail - the towels at the end of the week were fairly unusable as a result. * Cleanliness - we found bits of sweetcorn on the floor of the 2nd bedroom. This doesn't bode well for how well the place had been cleaned before our arrival - a worry given the current emphasis on keeping things clean. A final note was that the cleaner turned up at around 9:15 on our day of departure and lingered in the hallway. She was also disparaging to my wife. We have always left the apartments we have stayed in as clean and orderly as we found them. We didn't need this rudeness on our final day. We had to ask her to stand outside until we left at 9:50.

View and location incredible
-
"Very well equipped apartment."
Has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. The view is amazing and the facilities 10 out of 10. We are going to be booking again soon.
-
"Excellent large well equipped apartment with a few issues ."
Glass balcony screen could do with a clean and an umbrella on the balcony would have been welcome . Also only 2 sets of towels were provided for 3 adults . Despite these minor issues they didn’t detract from a great weeks holiday

Burgh Island View Apartments
Just 20 yards from Bigbury-on-Sea's big and splendid sandy beach, looking to Burgh Island Causeway, are 29 stunning, high quality apartments, of which we let a number. Within the same building are excellent leisure facilities and a restaurant. The views over the sea to the south and west, and at low tide of a vast expanse of smooth washed yellow sand reaching to Burgh Island, are outstanding. The island's jolly pub, The Pilchard, is fun to visit (long-legged sea tractor at high tide). All the apartments, which are privately owned and individually furnished, have those sensational views, and are wonderfully light, with large, airy open-plan living/dining/kitchens and glazed doors to balconies or terraces. The smallish bedrooms, at the back (without views), have good quality en suite bath or shower-rooms. The apartment building is three-storey. Most apartments have easy access (short walk from parking and between 5 and 9 steps down to the lift). The ground floor (still high above the beach) apartments have big terraces, the first and top floor apartments have very good-sized balconies. The leisure facilities, which are free for guests to use and open from 10am every day (except Christmas Day), include a fine indoor swimming pool (40' x 20' x 4'6"), spa pool, well-equipped gym (treadmill, steps, cycles, Concept II Rower and other instruments of torture) and sauna (no children under 14 in gym or sauna). There are changing rooms, a shower and disabled loo. The Club restaurant/smart bar, is open 10am to 9pm during the High Season, reservations recommended (for all other times of the year, please contact the Leisure Centre for opening times), serves excellent food throughout the day, with a popular dinner menu which varies daily and themed evenings. You can also order meals to take to your apartment. The comfy lounging area has sofas and WiFi, and the sunny outdoor terrace faces the sea.
Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
About the location
BIGBURY-ON-SEA
Modbury 6 miles; Plymouth 12 miles.
Bigbury-on-Sea is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is ideal for family holidays. Dusted with sand and lapped by shallow waters, the beach offers safe fun for groups particularly if you’ve got children in tow. In addition, Bigbury-on-Sea beach is dotted with rock pools, so there’s plenty of entertainment for budding marine biologists. There’s also a wide and varied selection of watersports available to visitors who prefer their holidays to feature a little adrenaline rush. Windsurfing and kite-surfing are popular here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. To give you some peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury-on-Sea beach during May to September and the beach also has a first-aid room. You can even take the dog onto the beach, although they are restricted to certain areas during the summer. Bigbury’s most famous landmark is Burgh Island, which overlooks the beach itself. The island is accessible at low tide, when the waters reveal a causeway that links it to the beach. However, when the tide is in you can still reach the island by hitching a ride on the popular and unique ‘sea tractor’. Burgh Island boasts an award-winning hotel, elegant and rather genteel, it’s an ideal romantic retreat for couples. Explore the South Devon coast with its fabulous sandy beaches and its breathtakingly beautiful coastal path or simply take time to visit some of the charming estuary towns and villages dotted throughout the area, such as Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. The city of Plymouth and the wild open spaces of Dartmoor are also both close at hand.
