"Beautiful house and facilities."
Perfect for people wanting to explore this area as a base. Everything you need for cooking in. All finished to very high standard.
-
"Shire View is an extremely comfortable house, spotlessly clean and everything you need for a home from home experience."
Situated perfectly for exploring beautiful Dorset.

"In general a very lovely home for the week that we all enjoyed thoroughly."
There were a few basics missing (bin liners, salt/pepper) but nothing major. Only thing was recycling? Only a black bin so everything sadly was put into that. We did borrow the neighbours green bin on the last day as felt guilty throwing away certain things. Would have loved to cooked a bbq on a couple of nights but there was not anything available however was not listed originally. The arrival hamper was very nice so thank you very much for that. Loved the town and very confident we will be back in a couple of years.

"The property was very spacious and clean."
The bathrooms and kitchen were good quality and modern. We found the beds quite uncomfortable and the pillows hard. There isn’t enough hangers in the wardrobe, 5 per person isn’t enough. It would be useful to have hooks on the bathroom doors for towels. The carpets are also getting quite worn on the stairs. Unfortunately, we had some noisy neighbours who were shouting and screaming till after midnight which wasn’t good with 2 young girls trying to get them to bed. Otherwise the location was very good and we enjoyed our stay In Lyme Regis.

"A wonderful house with everything you need."
Clean, spacious and very comfortable. Only drawback is the position, which I think should be stated in the details. At the top of a very steep hill which made it difficult to get out with my 87 year old Mum in a wheelchair

"The second time we have stayed in the property, the house is excellent but the general maintenance of the property was disappointing this time."
The fan in the oven wasn’t working , the clothes airer was broken on arrival (both reported to Sykes on two occasions but nothing done and no one got back to us. The rear lawned area was in poor condition which meant that it was not possible to sit/play on. All in all a lovely spacious house with excellent parking , just a few niggles that could easily have been resolved. Very disappointed with the lack of service/interest from Sykes cottages.

"Very nice property."
Just as described so would recommend,

"Lovely place, exactly as described."
The welcome package was just the icing on the cake, a very kind gesture and much appreciated. We would 100% recommend a stay here.

"The property was clean and relatively new."
The location and listing were generally good. We had problems with the water not draining from the shower tray in the master bedroom. I removed the inner filter a couple of times, which was not blocked, and that seemed to do the trick. Might be worthwhile having it checked by a plumber as the cause was not obvious. We could not get the towel rail in the master bedroom bathroom to heat up after the first day. Maybe a valve problem. The plastic bags supplied for the rubbish bin basically fell apart when we put much in them. The instructions on recycling in the file were not very clear. Maybe a smaller bin for recycling materials such as cans and glass would be good. The single bedroom could do with a small cupboard for hanging clothes. There is nothing apart from a few draws.

"Lovely, modern, spacious and clean property, perfectly situated to use as a base to explore the glorious surroundings of Lyme, Dorset and East Devon."
Would thoroughly recommend. Very peaceful and all the amenities you could wish for! If I was being picky, a washing line in the garden would’ve been good, as it was hard to dry four large beach towels on the airer provided but this is a minor quibble and it certainly didn’t detract from the overall holiday experience. My husband and I and our two grown up sons had a great time and really enjoyed our stay at Shire View. Thank you.

"The property was very clean and comfortable."
The blinds and shutters made the room very dark, which was an excellent option for the light summer mornings. The property had everything you would need for your holiday. It was only a few minutes drive from the coast, with a long stay car park very close which you can download an app for before you set out. Driving was preferable to walking, which there isn't much opportunity to do. All equipment in good working order, very clean. The welcome pack was a very nice idea. Might be worth taking some games, books etc with you if the weather is poor. However, this did not detract from the stay at all.

"While the property was spacious comfortable and immaculate unfortunately the location description was misleading."
The walk into Lyme Regis was dangerous with limited paths.
-
"Great holiday cottage in a rural location within easy access to Lyme Regis by car."
The layout, cleanliness and general facilities offered by this holiday let are second to none but the if considering a stroll into town then be aware that there is a very steep hill and limited footpaths along the way.
-
"A lovely big house very spacious."
Really enjoyed the location parking nearby and walking into town. Enjoyed the welcome pack which was a surprise. Very comfy firm beds and lovely sun trap garden. We all enjoyed our week here.
-
"Really nice house."
Clean, tidy and with every necessary bit of kit needed. Decent sized TV also (and access to Netflix a nice touch)! Great location to be able to walk to the town/beach.
-
"Had a most enjoyable stay at shire view."
The property is at the top of a steep hill. If you are walking to lyme regis from the cottage be aware there is no pavement for some of the way which is not ideal. We had to get a taxi to avoid walking on the road at night.

"Really enjoyed our short break at Shire View despite the awful weather."
Comfortable, clean, bright, accommodation. Very well appointed kitchen. Only negatives - didn't find the leather couches very comfortable and the TV operation needs some explanation. One other point - given the time of year and dark nights / mornings, we felt the footpath from the car-park to Shire View needs full lighting. The only saviour was the security light that operates from the end building. Maybe path lighting would help. However, we would look to make a return visit at some time in the future,

"A lovely property close to the town centre."
Spacious, clean, and perfect for what we needed, a home from home. Would definitely book with Lyme Bay holidays in future.

"Really enjoyed our stay, house was lovely and modern, clean, and well furnished, everything you needed, a real home from home."
The welcome pack was such a lovely gesture and very useful. The property was in a lovely quite spot but not too far away from the shops and beach, a bit of a climb back up the hill on foot, done it a few times but it was really easy to grab a taxi or a bus, very reasonable worth doing, the bus driver was fab he would drop us at the end of the lane! Loved our stay would not hesitate in returning or recommending to anyone

"Property was just as described, nice and clean on arrival, easy parking, well appointed with good quality pans, crockery cutlery knives etc."
A good walk form town but quiet and restful so would recommend.

"The house is exactly as shown with easy parking and a lovely garden which is a sun trap."
The bedrooms were large and facilities all in good working order. We loved the eco washing machine & the blackout blinds were really useful. It would have been nice to have an outside washing line or pegs to hold clothes onto the airer so we could pop it outside rather than having to put on the heating to dry clothes, although having 2 thermostats meant we could heat only where needed. The huge TV was great but the sofas weren't very comfy. Appreciate this is personal preference but the leather is slippery and as vegetarians, we didn't find it very nice. The biggest issue was the lack of cloths to clean with (the one provided we used for dishes so couldn't use it for household cleaning). It was unfortunate the one bottle of toilet cleaner turned out to be empty. Also the dishwasher tablets were terrible and left a white residue on all the pots which we had to rewash by hand every time. We fully endorse the eco lifestyle but the extra water consumption of rewashing probably makes these tablets not worthwhile. We also struggled to cook / reheat food in the microwave due to the lack of suitable plastic ware and lidded containers to keep leftovers stored. I should end by saying how much we enjoyed our stay and this is a great base for exploring the area. The local walks were too challenging for us but I recommend the walk to Uplyme from the end of the road (then along the river path into Lyme Regis). We really missed all the usual information leaflets provided in such properties especially as my mum doesn't access the internet, but understand why these were removed.
