  • "The cottage is beautifully maintained and clean."

Lovely welcome gifts were much appreciated. Very good kitchen, lots of hot water, comfortable bedroom and neat, clean bathroom. A very pretty, tranquil location, but be aware of a busy narrow road. The garden is not enclosed, so our dog remained on the lead. Also the steps up to cottage, I would say, are more than a few! Quite a job pulling suitcase up then down! The sitting area is nicely furnished with a good TV and radio, unfortunately, the seating is rather uncomfortable. I feel that in the property description on line, it should be mentioned that when the Castle closes in November, the Cafe closes too, so no catering, cream teas etc for cottage occupants, that was a disappointment!

The cottage is clean and comfortable with all modern conveniences and a lovely garden for our dog to exercise. The welcome pack was a treat and included homemade cake and fresh flowers. Do order the Sunday lunch, it's delicious. The cottage is ideally situated to explore the surrounding area, inland and down to the coast.

Can't think of any improvements. The cottage and gardens are ideal for dogs so we were all happy. Good walks nearby and lots of places to visit- only a short drive away. Particularly loved Coleton Fishacres - a National Trust house and estate.

  • "Lovely little cottage, fabulous welcome pack, had everything well thought out and spotlessly clean."

The downside, unfortunately, is the access to the property. Had I known that it was up a steep slope with three lots of uneven steps, I would not have booked. From photograph it appears to just be up the first flight of steps (I'd be ok with that), but then there was a gravel slope, more steps (thank goodness for hand rail, the first step is quite challenging), then more loose gravel on another slope before final three steps. PHEW. I'm waiting for new knee and loose bricks and walking sticks do not mix! Could do with a new settee too. Peace and quiet was fabulous,, woken each morning by a song thrush and robin - lovely. I'd certainly recommend Wisteria Cottage but would suggest the access issue is more accurately documented and highlighted as not being suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Otherwise perfect ;)

It would have been nice to know how many steps from the car park to reach the cottage, before we arrived. We left early as my husband's car was hit in the lane come back to the cottage, and we just wanted to return as this took the edge off the holiday.

  • "Lovely stay at Wisteria cottage, cosy and private nestled out in the countryside but only a 10 minute drive from the seafront."

The only thing I'd say is that on days the castle is open (Tues-Thurs) the car park is used for that, too, it can get very busy and you may struggle to get parked and there is no other parking. I think it'd be nice to have a "reserved for wisteria Cottage" space!

The owners have gone above and beyond and have thought of everything you could possibly need, very impressed. We were welcomed to some lovely home made cake which was a delicious treat after our long drive,a box of chocolates, biscuits and a bottle of wine, They even thought to put a pint of milk in the fridge which again was a very nice thoughtful touch. The cottage itself was cosy but felt bigger because of the openness of the design which gives it a nice airy and spacious feel. It’s a bit quirky and works well. For me it was a perfect holiday home. Even the wildlife was impressive, one morning a weasel ran across the lawn. My only slight criticism was that the bed felt slightly sunken in the middle,so not the perfect sleep but a new mattress would fix that. But overall we loved it ,very good stay and very well equipped ,I would happily book again next time I fancy a break in Devon.

The location along narrow lanes is tricky in places; this was compounded by water main problems that meant we had to negotiate a diversion that was not signposted. We felt that a small occasional table by the single armchair would be a useful addition. The steps do make this cottage unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems. We never saw the owners at all.
