  • "Home from a week at Becket’s Barn."

What a fantastic cottage this is! After 20+ years of renting cottages in the UK I can honestly say this one is the best. A very friendly welcome to a very comfortable cottage, build by the owners themselves. A well equipped kitchen and living room. Both bed- and bathroom were absolutely top. This is a 5 star accommodation with its own cinema thanks to a very large screen with beamer.

  • "We enjoyed a relaxing holiday in the glorious Devon countryside at Becketts Barn."

The property is a sympathetically restored barn, done to the highest standards with some great views from the front balcony and was very comfortable. The added bonus of a hot-ish tub is great feature, we used it twice it didn’t ever get over 31deg even though we had been told it was set at 35… We were disappointed that the listing has not been updated because the shop has been closed for a year, which meant getting in our car for a 20 minute drive. The owners Sean and Wenna have good intentions though and he is a nice guy, an initial teething issue with the property not being ready was handled well by him. He also offered to drop us to a local pub for dinner in his vintage car which he would book on our behalf. However this also went wrong because no food was being served on the night we wished to go, we were told this with only an hours notice clearly showing the booking had not been made previously.. he did however offer to drive us out another night and try something else but we declined. Overall we are glad we stayed but for those that want a shop locally look elsewhere because the listing is inaccurate.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Becket's Barn, and it was a pleasure meeting you both. We've spoken with Sykes Cottages, who handle all our marketing and bookings. While they had updated the property summary with the correct information about the nearest shop, the 'about the location' section was unfortunately overlooked. They have assured us that this information is now accurate. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "Absolutely stunning place!"

We had such an amazing time and will recommend and come back too! Our only constructive feedback is that it was a little bit dusty in the bedroom and maybe to look into providing bathsheets rather than towels as we found the towels were a little small. Bath sheets tend to be more size exclusive. 10/10 hosting. Loved the scones when we arrived, beautiful touch. Stunning decor and scenery

Thank you for your lovely comments and we always welcome constructive feedback. We pride ourselves in our high standards and apologize for our oversight on this occasion. We will certainly look into providing guests with some larger towels and thank you for suggesting this. Do come back and visit us again soon. Property Owner

  • "The best self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in."

So much attention to detail. The weather was awful but the hosts had thought of everything to counteract this including board games and a full remote control drop down screen at the balcony doors to accommodate a projector suspended from the ceiling enabling us to watch Netflix etc (if you have an account). The bedding was top quality and the beds were so very comfortable. Fluffy towels and even dressing gowns to keep you warm when going to and from the Hot Tub. The hosts live in the cottage next door but you would never know. They have black out blinds, as does the property and, at no point did we feel that we were being watched. It's not the easiest of places to find once you get to the village as SAT Nav leads you to what appears to be a dead end but, we were so impressed with Sean, the owner, in the fact that he heard our car and came straight out to us and guided us in the right direction and then took the time to show us around the accommodation which, he has converted all by himself. He has even made the headboards for the beds himself and also the amazing railings for the spiral staircase and the balcony. The upstairs toilet is amazing..Sean has covered the walls with original Wartime Newspapers which are so interesting to read that you are likely to spend more time in there than you should...they make fantastic reading! All we can say is WELL DONE ! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! WE WILL BE BACK! Oh...and the Sunday Roast at the local is fabulous!

What lovely feedback - thank you so much. We are thrilled you loved Becket's Barn as much as we do! Property Owner

  • "We loved our stay at Beckett’s barn and the hospitality shown by Wenna and Shaun."

The barn is located in a small village with a great local pub a stones throw away, and a 15 min drive to reach Dartmoor national park for some great walks. The barn itself is perfect, it was super clean and had all the amenities you could want, plus lots of vintage touches - you can tell that a lot of thought and effort has gone into it. The hot tub is obviously a great addition which we made full use of. Lastly, the additional welcome touches provided were really appreciated. We would love to come back and stay again in future.

Absolutely stunning spiral staircase and decor. The village is very quiet and relaxing. The owners living right next door was not intrusive and we were left to enjoy the hot tub and our stay. The property was warm and cosy with the underfloor heating. If you are looking for quiet peaceful area away the hustle and bustle of daily life this is a perfect place in a pretty pink barn.

Our host Shaun was an absolute pleasure, warm, kind, friendly, unintrusive, but always on hand to assist if required. His daughters were an enormous help with the more technical aspects i.e working the projector, setting up the firestick! Thank you ladies.

It really was a home away from home. Weena and Shaun were wonderful hosts, bringing fresh plums and cheerfully gluing on the sole of a well worn running shoe. Also the ride in Shaun’s vintage car was a real treat. Everything was spotless, well thought out and welcoming. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom fitted with a very good shower. The kitchen well equipped and a had full range of cooking utensils. We particularly liked the balcony with its view over to the church. The striking of the church bell for the quarter hours and hours did not disturb us at all. The provision of a projector and screen was a lovely add on. Having logged on to our amazon account we were able to enjoy a film in the evening. Shaun and Wenna were lovely hosts and very helpful with any enquiry. The local pub, less than 5 mins walk, was really good and served lovely food on the evening we ate there. We would go to this property again.
