  • "Quiet a nice lodge but smaller than the ones we normally stay in, more of a caravan feel."

While the living area was fairly spacious the bedrooms and bathrooms were small. If you had a party of six staying there was not enough seating. Only room for 5.

  • "Our inital booking was made in December 25 which showed all site facilities open and available pool etc - one of the main reasons we booked Landscove."

However we were informed in March 26 that they wouldn't be open due to redevelopment. Although the facilities at The Bay were very good and we really enjoyed them, we still had to drive there (two children under 3 we'd dispute the walking distance time provided) and there were no park facilities on Landscove as per our inital booking. A certain element of poetic licence was used in advertising for this accommodation to suggest that facilities are open on Landscove which in our view isn't a transparent way of listing and leaving it to March to inform us left us with very little other options to change sites or find other accommodation. Landscove redevelopment was known about in December 25 as per discussions with staff and it was known that we would be staying by a demolition site in June 26 at the time we made the booking. Landscove are still bending information this way with other listing's as our in-laws booked in May 26, different accommodation through a different provider and the same incorrect information was provided to them. Accommodation wise the Lodge was as per our booking. Suited our needs internally although it is looking tired in places - carpet pulling, banged and chipped corners etc. We had a leaking sink which we reported however we had to put a bowl under it for a week. Our main issue with the lodge was location. A bank of three lodges appeared to have just been placed in a very cramped site position on Landscove with vehicle parking being right by the next lodges decking area providing absolutely no privacy. In our view all of the lodges and sitting areas were the wrong way around in orientation. Following a further review of our inital booking it is again very hard to tell where the lodge is located on site. The images are taken of the decking are at a angle which in our oppinion make the outside decking space look bigger than it is and the trees less intrusive. The outside decking space is small and would only fit 6 people by standing. Its barely wide enough for a 4 table and chairs set and sitting on them as a 4 did not work as there isnt enough space. The whole outside decking of the lodge backs onto very large row of trees and as the week went on that outside space got covered with more and more bird feces and tree debris. At best this had been briefly wiped down before our arrival however we would suggest it needs rigorous jet washing once a week. With two small children obviously bird feces can be impactive, it even prevented us putting towels outside to dry. We couldn't use the decking space because of the size issue of the decking, debris, feces and privacy which was disappointing in the June heat as having good outside space was one of the main reasons initially we chose a lodge over a cottage. On a positive the site was very quite and the views of Berry head when walking around are very good. Having stopped in Brixham multiple times in various types of accommodation, price point wise the lodge is on par with some cottages we've stayed in. Although the inside space is on par we felt that in comparison the price point for this accommodation is higher than it should be. Would we stay here again - yes but that is probably more for the Landscove location and what facilities are due in the future.

BRIXHAM

Dartmouth 5 miles; Paignton 6 miles; Torquay 8 miles.

Brixham is a working fishing harbour located on the southern side of Torbay, the area known as The English Riviera, famed for its sunny mild climate all year round. The focal point of the harbour is a life size replica of The Golden Hind, Sir Francis Drake’s ship. The prettiest part of Brixham has small cottages in hilly narrow winding lanes leading to the harbour where all the activity is centred. Home to Britain’s largest fishing fleet which regularly lands their catch in the harbour, Brixham fish market sells to major restaurants in the UK. Brixham is the ideal destination for a traditional holiday with many family attractions around Torbay including two Blue Flag beaches, Paignton Zoo and many regattas and maritime events throughout the year. There are a host of safe cycle trails in the area, the South West Coastal Path and some of the best golf courses in the region. A good mix of relaxation or action, to suit all ages, where you are never far from the sea.
