"We’re not large people but we found the sofas unsupportive, as well as the individual round seat whose cushion frequently slips off."
One of our party was recovering from an operation and spent more time than usual seated. The mattress on the double bed in the rear of the house had very soft edges which seemed to roll the occupants out of bed. We have stayed at the property previously and have re-booked, it’s well equipped and in a great position, the seating and beds seemed tired and let the down the otherwise excellent quality of the stay.

"The property is very well equipped, the garden is lovely and private , beautiful roses all down the wall ."
Convenient for shops and beautiful beaches and walks .We always feel at home here and have already booked for next year.

"This is a lovely cottage - definitely the best we’ve had in recent years!"
It suited us very well being close to the bus stop and the Co-op. The garden was wonderful. Our only criticism was uncertainty about what to do with rubbish/recycling as other reviews have pointed out. And the kitchen bin is very small!

"We had another brilliant week staying in Jot Cottage."
Even though we were 5 adults, there was plenty of room for us all. The weather was not as kind to us this year so we weren't able to sit out in the garden. We would certainly book this cottage in the future. It is in such a convenient position for all that Salcombe has to offer. The cottage is equipped with everything you could need. The only thing missing is any sort of recycling bins for plastic, cardboard etc.

"We had another perfect week staying in Jot Cottage."
The property has everything you need and in the perfect position for food shopping, parking and a pleasant walk into the town without the noise of the pubs at night. We have been coming to Salcombe every year for over 30yrs and have found the standard of the properties has improved beyond belief. We love Jot Cottage and will return. Sue

"We had a wonderful stay at Jot Cottage."
It had everything we needed. We loved sitting out in the garden ( a sun umbrella would have been handy..I looked in the shed but couldn't see one). The cottage was very clean and everything was in good order. It is in a great position, very handy for shops, harbour etc. The only thing it lacked was any recycling boxes or sacks. I noticed that other cottages seemed to have recycling boxes but not Jot cottage. We would certainly book Jot Cottage in the future.

"Great location , bit lacking in plates , bowls etc , very comfortable but just a bit tired , would stay again though"
-
"The wifi was very unpredictable and had to report this year and last year, the beds did not need the topper as one was so high."
No recycling which was I felt was a waste also no where in Salcombe period. Some of the furnishings look a bit dated in the bedrooms. Need a update felt in front bedroom to much furniture Apart from that had a good holiday

"We had a wonderful week in Salcombe and a very comfortable stay in Jot Cottage."
Everything we required was there, the cottage suited us extremely well so we have booked it again and very much look forward to returning in 2023. Congratulations to the owners for thinking of everything. It was the first cottage we have stayed in where the heated towel rails in the bathrooms actually worked!

"Beautiful cottage and perfect location."
If the recycling bins like the other neighbouring holiday cottages could be added would be a great addition. Wanted to have bfast outside on last day but the gardeners came at around 9 which didn't make this possible,. needs to be after 10 as made it a little uncomfortable.

"Lovely cottage, small & compact but very well laid out."
Well equipped. Would book again.

"This is a delightful cottage in a very convenient location."
Short level walk to Estuary front and shops and even closer to the Railink bus to Totnes Station, which we used. It was spoiled by a lack of care. The freezer had a note to ensure the door is properly closed: on arrival it would not close because of a build up of ice which we removed and should have been remedied before our arrival. The cottage was empty the previous week so there was plenty of time to do so. We had requested to bring forward our start date by 3/4 days but Sykes would only do this if we paid for the full week. Towards the end of the week we used the washing machine and it wouldn't open after the cycle. Nick from Coast and Country was very helpful and got it open but it needs a proper repair or replacement. Sykes are a very imperpersonal organisation. The independent Country Cottages used to more friendly and relaxed. Although they are the local people on the ground who can help, Sykes insist on dealing with phone calls remotely. The only reliable way to talk to them is to walk to their office.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jot Cottage (aided by lovely weather)."
The cottage is well located, close to lovely estuary views and the centre of Salcombe, but quiet. Everything was comfortable and clean. It took a while to find a parking space in the Shadycombe car park during the day, but it was not a problem on a weekday evening and the car park is very close to the cottage. Why take your car out anyway, once parked? There are beautiful walks locally, ferries available in Salcombe and the bus stop for Kingsbridge and Totnes is a minute's walk away. We would certainly visit this cottage again.

"Parking is a bit of an issue."
Limited spaces even with permit. Permit on the road near the cottage would be an advantage. However didn’t detract from the cottage or our stay which was lovely

"Cottage in a good location."
Very comfortable

"Jot Cottage was the perfect spot in Salcombe for our stay."
I have been visiting Salcombe for many years but never based myself in the town before. I love the atmosphere in the town, especially when the tide is high and all the people on there boats/yachts come into town to shop, eat and drink and then the tide turns and things become a little more peaceful again. Things of course were a little different this year and instead of just walking in to the wonderful pubs and restaurants, everything had to be booked in advance. Not a problem once you realised what you to do. Hats off to the very hard working staff in the pubs and restaurants because despite everything we are all going through they still made us very welcome. We had a fabulous week

"Lovely cottage in a prime location."
Clean and comfortable. A little bit noisy if you are sleeping in the front bedroom. I would just recommend that you put fans in the bedrooms as it gets very hot upstairs. Also the bin instructions are not very clear. Very enjoyable stay.
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Jot Cottage, it really is in a great location. We are sorry to hear you felt the front bedroom was noisy due to facing onto the road. As Jot Cottage is located close to the town centre there can sometimes be sounds of passing traffic, however this is rarely disruptive due to the quiet nature of the town. We have passed on your comments regarding fans for the bedrooms to the property owners for their consideration, and one of our team will ensure that the refuse instructions are accurate and clear for future guests. We hope you enjoyed your stay in Salcombe come back to the area soon. Property Owner

"We are frequent visitors to Jot Cottage and as always we found it very well appointed and comfortable."
The staff at Coast and Country were friendly and helpful, we look forward to seeing them again next year!

"The photographs of the cottage were accurate."
The cottage is well equipped and was clean and well maintained. (Some food - which we assume had been left by the previous occupants was left in a cupboard, which should have been disposed of before our arrival) Our main gripe however was the parking instructions which were not very clear. (We were led to believe the parking was literally across the road from the property when we rang to enquire. This was not the case) The parking was actually much further down the hill. When you don’t know an area, things like this can be quite confusing. We arrived on a Sunday and the offices were not open so we had no way of finding clear instructions. It was only on the following day when the office was open, we were informed we’d parked overnight in the wrong car park. Salcombe is a charming little town and the cottage is nestled in the centre, and a short walk from the harbour and shops.
Thank you for taking the time to let us know how much you enjoyed your stay at Jot Cottage. Apologies that the cupboards were not empty for your arrival – we have raised this with the cleaners to ensure this does not happen again. We work extremely hard with our cleaners to ensure each property is presented to the high standards we expect. In regards to parking, we have since updated our description to show that the parking is nearby however it is not at the property and we ensure that the parking permits have information regarding which car park to park in, depending on time of year so stop any confusion for visitors to Salcombe. We hope you visit us again in Salcombe in the future. Property Owner
