  • "Beautiful house, perfectly equipped, with fabulous views."

  • "The Gulls view was just amazing you couldnt get any closer to the sea if you tried out of every window at the back of the property was just the sea wow."

Unfortunately the property had a lot of cob webs that were visible and hadn’t been cleaned properly. The outdoor area was very unkept I had to brush up before I let the children outside around the side by the kitchen window was completely filthy the windows all needed a good clean. We cut our stay short due to our child getting there foot caught in the decking which is rotten and it cut her foot, the lower decking area you walk on it and it just bounces which is very unsafe. Considering the property was £5000 for a week I would have expected the basics of a clean cared for property not to have to clean and be concerned about the external areas. The shower on the first floor doesn’t drain and water backs up so you have to turn it off mid shower to allow it to drain, the sofas are very marked and stained, This place could be completely amazing with some care and attention

We found it to be faultlessly clean and well maintained. We had a lovely stay

  • "The house itself was lovely and the views were amazing, but for the money we paid we did expect a 5* property and was disappointed with the cleanliness of the outside."

I had to clean the outdoor seating and table off as was covered in cobwebs and seagull poo. The glass that surrounds the terrace and the windows were dirty and covered in seagull poo. It could have done with a good clean. The pool was freezing when we got there and I did ring the local office and spoke to a young lady and was told I would get a call back but never did. Once it heated up it was lovely and we used it everyday as the weather was good. I did phone the office on Monday as we had a problem with the oven. I spoke to a very nice person called Mike who was very helpful and maintenance came out with a couple hours. The trip switch kept going when the tumble dryer was on. We were also asked to not put any rubbish out until the night before we left but you can’t be expected to keep rubbish in doors all week. I also think that mattress and pillow protectors should be changed each week as we were asked to leave them on and when stripping the beds they were not very clean. Parking should be stated as two small parking spaces. The Green Dragon in the village is excellent and a 10 minute walk for an able bodied person but we had to use car as the walk is very steep.

The views are breath-taking the villa is beautiful. We would like to thank the owner for sharing this property we lived in luxury for a week. We certainly will be booking again.

  • "We stayed for 9 nights this coat £6500 If you have booked this take a tool box for the general maintenance that needs to be done during your stay."

For that money I would expect a cleaner property, inside kitchen cupboards dirty, oven and hob have dried food all over it. Window and doors dirty, all mastic black in bathrooms. Light bulbs not working. Outside decking dirty, poo bags left by previous holiday maker, table cover in bird poo, grass needs cutting. The general maintenance is bad, slip bricks have come off everywhere but just left, main bathroom toilet flush broke, a paper clip for a chain in the sink, the fridge freezer doors don’t shut unless you push hard, washing machine trips electric every time you put it on. A ridiculous thing is that you have to call an office 8 miles away if you want to the umbrella up as they have locked it? Other things you get left 3 toilet rolls one in each toilet for 9 days? You also are advised that they have left you a bin bag for your rubbish and a spar one for you to put all the bedding and towels in on departure? Firstly a family who is staying 9 days will need more than one bin bag also all the bedding doesn’t fit in one bin bag. They also ask you to store the rubbish in the house until the night before when you should put the bag in to the bin cupboard next to the garage this doesn’t exist? Make sure you make no noise as the neighbours next door report you for anything which is strange as I have never heard a dog so noisy as there’s. We played no music just a normal family trying to enjoy ourselves. To sum up the view is lovely but the property is no way worth the money no chance. If the owner read this I would suggest that you visit the property and fix the maintenance and I would recommend getting proper cleaners in for your change overs.

  • "Our travel counsellor hit the mark with the most perfect house for my family."

The view, village and setting stunning. What has been so disappointing is how the property is being maintained and cleaned by the agent. A luxury property needs luxury care and this simply wasn't the case. The owner and the house deserve more and also when we finally got through to the agent, I was met with lack of engagement and almost annoyance at saying it wasn't clean. A faulty window was explained as 'my fault' and someone would need to come and show me if 'you can't figure it out'. Our travel counsellor did more to support than the people being paid to. She even sent us flowers for our return to apologise for it not being 100%, now that is service! The Gulls is a special property and needs to be looked after in the same vain. Pop some flowers on the table for arrival, clean it so it is sparkling, leave some local produce - cake, biscuits and some proper milk in the fridge. Those extra touches align to the price tag. The box of fake milk and a sachet of coffee represent a Premier Inn.

  • "The Gulls, what a view!"

There are a lot of wonderful things about this property, the view, a swimming pool, downstairs bedroom, sun lounger’s & very comfortable beds. However for us as a top price 5 * rental there are some areas that could be improved on. Tumble dryer tripped every time used, around the pool area no fencing with a big drop into the garden, upstairs shower blocked drain, power point cover fell off when plug taken out, on the first night the large mirror in the downstairs bedroom fell off the wall (luckily it didn’t break). Overall we had a pleasant stay but would say the current price point is too high.

  • "I stayed here with my parents, husband and 3 children."

Children's ages vary from 18 to 2 years old. The house doesn't really cater to children as there was no high chair or cot. It's not a massive deal, but if you're staying for a week, every inch of boot space counts. It's would just be nice to not have to worry about those things. There were a few bits that I wasn't overly impressed with, especially when you think of how much you're paying for the house. There were loose tiles in the shower on the top floor. The plug in the main floor bathroom was being pulled out with a paperclip because the chain had snapped. Every time we used the dryer, it tripped the electric. We needed to call the agents to help put the parasol up.

  • "Whilst The Gulls is an exceptional property in itself our stay was ruined by the poor unreliable internet connection."

We believe this should have been indicated in the property description. It kept dropping out, and sometimes for hours on end. Very disappointing.

  • "We had an amazing stay at The Gulls."

House is suitable for all family members, a few steps to negotiate if you are disabled, but we managed. Rooms spread out, with lots of space for all. Beds and bedding super comfortable and the place was very clean. Exceptional sea views from the stunning deck. Even managed time in the pool as it’s heated. Very dog friendly. Parking slightly limited but as the road is quiet, never a problem. Devon is very hilly therefore the walk into the village was up hill. Not a big deal. Would certainly stay again and highly recommend this beautiful house. Services from the agent locally was 10/10, nothing too much trouble

  • "Very happy with our stay."

We had a very relaxing week and at the same time visited sites nearby. The house is conformable all round. The facilities are very good and high quality. We didn't know how yo use the air-conditioning but we didn't ask as it wasn't too hot. The closest beach is not dog friendly (just a note for those who are hoping in a stroll to the beach). The next dog friendly beach is 10 minutes drive. The shower in the garden was broken but was promptly fixed on the Monday afternoon. There are nice pubs to a short walk, which also our puppy could cope with. The house offers few reception rooms with quiet time for members of the family. Beautiful Kingsbridge...worth to visit. Not clear the arrangement for the bin collection, but went well anyway. The neighbourhood is quiet and neighbours are lovely and friendly. Stip walk to the top/main road (not great for the less fit or someone who has mobility issues). COMMENT This house, location, setting and views are amazing. Monica

  • "What a wonderful property in a stunning location!"

We had a couple of technical difficulties early on - the parasol, and a spectacular unstoppable fountain of water from the outdoor shower. We are so grateful to Becca of C&C who arrived within minutes, climbed into a spidery hole, and stemmed the flow of water. Also grateful to her husband who sorted out the parasol. We could not have asked for more. Lovely people.

  • "A stunning location for a holiday property!"

Uninterrupted views of the sea and Blackpool and Slapton Sands beaches, the former being a 15 minute walk away for a great little breakfast on the beach. Lovely and quiet in the back garden with only the seagulls for noise. Highly recommend The Green Dragon pub and Radius 7 restaurant just a 10-15 minute walk up from the house. A bus stop 5 minutes walk from the house for a ride into Dartmouth, where parking can be problematic. Speaking of parking, we parked our two cars outside the house and only were asked to move once when I delivery lorry couldn’t manoeuvre past. Finding a parking spot near a property in Dartmouth town is a problem most of the time, so this was something we didn’t have to worry about at The Gulls. A couple of constructive points of feedback…. There were lots of garden furniture cushions yet no garden furniture to lounge on bar a good big 6 seater table and chairs (lovely to sit at over breakfast) A set of instructions for lights and heating would have been useful. There were so many light switches yet very few actually worked. We’ve stayed in Dartmouth before but a week at The Gulls was considerably more relaxing, a very comfortable, well appointed home in the stunning, quiet Stoke Fleming.

Great location. Excellently equipped kitchen and good media facilities. We had a lovely holiday and would book this property again. Only improvements I’d suggest are fixing the slats on the beds in the smaller top floor room, more sun loungers with cushions, a barbecue and a welcome pack to give an overview of the property facilities.

  • "We had a Fantastic holiday and didn’t want to leave."

I wish we could come back but know we won’t simply because, however fantastic it was, its simply not worth the money we paid. I can’t really fault anything but at that price we expected more luxury: No bbq, outdoor seat cushions but not matching, only 2 loungers for a house that sleeps 8 and the cushions were not correct for the loungers so didn’t fit . Initial impressions of the outside of the house aren’t particularly good just ok, very few coat hangers, no drawers in one bedroom. Nothing that spoilt the holiday but not luxury. It’s a very normal , practical house with a position that is fantastic but I can’t justify the cost for a view. Had to call the agents for a couple of minor issues and they were excellent and very prompt. It’s a wow view and an ok house and we had a great holiday. But it’s not priced right.

No BBQ,Outside furniture poor and very few seat cushions. The rest were filthy. No cushions at all for the 2 bed loungers. The front door kept getting stuck when opened. The cleanliness of the house was poor and sofas needed cleaning. The position, view and pool were excellent. Only one wardrobe in the whole house. No information re the area given by owner. No welcome info. We had a good time but the owner needs to improve things rather than relying on the location. Sorry Ro Hall

One of the single beds within the top floor bedroom needs slats replacing as these kept falling through. Apart from these minor points it was a great house and great trip and we would definitely revisit! The views are stunning and great location!

We felt totally relaxed and enjoyed a week of luxury, spoilt for the most insane see views and heated swimming pool this property more than exceeded our expectations. One niggly issue we had was there wasn't enough storage for rubbish with only the one bin collection and we would have benefitted from at least 1 clean there was a lot of house work to do with all the cooking etc having to be done in the property due to covid.
